I am still hanging around. Sorry for not participating much this year but a Columbus weekend hand sounds great to me.
Ok, so I guess I am a wuss for bailing after finding only 2-feet although I was solo.
How much snow did you guys have in Vermont? At one of my secret camping spots up in the Whites, we had 2-feet in spots. I was not a happy camper, pun intended, and did not end up staying the night.
Don't worry, you weren't the only one. Tim sent me a PM Thursday night asking if I was going this weekend. I wasn't able to check my PM's til today as I went to the Whites this weekend. I...
Can't Wait, what time do you plan on arriving on Friday? Looks like I have a 4 hour drive from Elyria.
Finally signed up on the spreadsheet, Stratton Pond area sound perfect.
Anyone know if there is any snow on the ground in the area we will be hanging? So far, the weather looks fairly decent for this weekend. I am going to really try to make it. We have no snow on the...
I am good with a fair amount of mileage but can't handle a lot of steady elevation gain. Low peaks are fine but 4K's are out for me until I get in better shape. :(
hmm, I could possibly do this. I am leaving NH for my Cleveland home on Feb. 5th but will have my girlfriend with me and would have to drop her off in Cleveland first. I may be able to attend on...
LOL, nice seal raiffnuke.
Night, any idea what kind of hike you are looking to do? Easy going, moderate, lots of elevation gain, not so much?
I do like, however, how their panel has some side buckles to give you the option to run some horizontal straps. Still loving my MMP though.
Watching the thread for more details.
15" Sawvivor - I love it, goes in the woods with me every time.

Yes sir, Shangri-La 3.
I might go back out on Saturday. I camp on private property that I have permission to use so I just left the shelter and tarp up since it was only going to be a few days.
Could you please elaborate on your MMP issues?
Took the MMP out in the woods today, probably only a mile round trip, but she fit like a glove with a full winter load out and 3L water bladder in the insulated sleeve. I'm loving it.
I posted a...
Disclaimer: No hammock, sorry.. had a bad experience last time out, weather was too nasty today to experiment so I had planned to sleep on the ground.
Today in New Hampshire, 4 to 6" of new snow...
MSR Lightning Axis, 30", actually.
I actually did not end up going out today, the wind is gusting above 40 MPH where I want to camp and I just did not feel like dealing with the wind today. ...
Just received a MMP in the mail this week and taking it out to the woods tomorrow for a winter overnight trip. Photo below is a winter load out for sleeping on the ground. Ran into some problems...
I'm a loser as I obviously did not attend as I wanted. As many of you know, I suffer from bipolar depression and social anxiety. I had landed, after three weeks out of town, in Boston later than...
Currently at CLE airport enroute to Logan. All flights look good, will be home tonight to pack up and get ready to leave in the morning.
bumping this back to the top.
Anyone one interested in hanging sometime between Dec. 16th and Jan. 3rd?
"super shelters" make winter camping a blast. I went out last Thursday and had a fire four feet from my hammock with a reflector behind the fire and another reflector behind my black hammock tarp. ...
Will I be a loser if I only bring food for myself and don't participate in the pot luck? I am returning to Boston at 11pm on the 3rd and just will not have much time to prepare other than packing my...
I don't know if I will make it myself. Pulled a muscle in my back while in Cleveland and it hurts pretty bad. Sitting at the airport now waiting for my flight to Logan. At least I was able to get...
No formal plan as I am still out of town and have not had a chance. However I do want to hang in Lincoln Woods on Sat.
Dave and Co., let's do Lincoln Woods on the 10th. I will start a thread soon. I am in Cleveland until Thursday.
Someone nominated you, I seconded, no disdains === WIN.
However, I've been sitting in a bar at the Philadelphia airport for awhile so may not be fully accurate in all facts. :D
Mr. President, feel free to arrange a pre-winter hang gear shake-out hang. :D
2.5 hour drive for me, not too bad.
Video working now, looks like a really nice area.
When I click play, it says the video is private. I can't watch it.
I support this!
So this weekend in cancelled. Sunshower and Co. were the only only ones listed. I am quite disappointed to their backing out.
I may organize another one in Lincoln Woods for the weekend of the 10th. Stay tuned.
It's very overcast here in Manchester but the Lincoln forecast for tomorrow is looking decent. Should be a great time, I am looking forward to meeting all the huskies and their owners.
Saturday:...
At this time, yes. However, I will be in Cleveland from the 1st - 8th so it may be a last minute event although I will have forum access via my phone while on the road.
Looks like no one is interested in going Friday (tomorrow) so I plan on just hanging on Saturday. I should be there pretty early since I hike so slow and not sure how I will do with my new pack...
Outstanding job for your first hang. With practice, you will become a pro at the tarp and underquilt issues. I love the photos and detailed report with GPS track. Which GPS do you have? I need a...
Around noon time today, I went for a walk in the woods and decided to bring my Night Owl hammock along so I could install a ridgeline and play with the hang some more. Mother decided to come along...
Anyone else interested? Bueller?
Dutch and Tato FTW. I will be ordering a pair soon.
Wow. My hat arrived a few days ago while I was out in the bush. I had Kat pick the colors and pattern noting only that I like dark colors. She came up with a great design, I couldn't be happier. ...
Yeah, it should be the same this weekend. Heck, they are forecasting 70F on Friday.
High around freezing and low in the low teens. I would make certain ones gear/clothing is good down to 0F. Since we are car camping, have extra blankets in the car if unsure. I know I will be...
For those unfamiliar with the area, I added a google map link to the OP.
ahh, that is a real pisser. My condolences. :(
Sounds good brother, it's a large site should be plenty of places to hang. Weather is looking nice as well.
Yes, we know brother.. you are doing winter hang planning stuffs on Sunday.
This Saturday, sunshower, her crew, and I plan on hanging at the Franconia Brook Tentsite on the East Side Trail in Lincoln Woods. It's an easy 2.6 mile walk.
Anyone else interested? If you...
