I would recommend a reservation, also check with what State Park you might be staying for some do not allow hammocks. Good luck for it's a crowded area.
Yes, I agree, snow cat is a must have. Just got back, over 20 feet on some summits. The good news, plenty of water.
Thank you sir..........
Is there a color patch to view of the colors the wide will be available in. Looking but can't find it. Thanks
I'm on the fence as well. Sure wish someone had slept in both and could give a comparison. Im '6'2'', 180 and could go either way but at age 64 comfort becomes an issue. Hope Dutch adds more colors,...
I'm a backer of Dutch's Chameleon and have to decide on the fabric weight. I'm 178, 6'2'' and I was leaning toward the 1.0 but am concerned about the stretch and comfort. Any ideas would be...
This is the thread I've been looking for. I'm in line for the Dutch Chameleon and am trying to decide what fabric. I'm 178 and 6'2''. I was thinking of the 1.0 but keep hearing about the stretch...
I have hung my hammocks many times at Sky Camp. Sites #5 & 6 are the best and perhaps the only. Both can accommodate several hammocks. I would be interested in a hang once it starts raining.
You might check East Bay Regional Parks, some of the parks you can hike and hang. For the Bay Area my go to area is Pt. Reyes, Sky Camp, site #5 & 6. Yes reservations are a must but a jewel...
tahoerimtrail.org Great website from the folks at Tahoe Rim Trail Association. It will answer quite a few questions. The main problem the past few years has been water, pray for rain and snow....
Have not done the thru hike but have hiked quite a few of the trails. Finding trees I don't think will be a problem. The TRT has a great web site with all the information you may need. Good luck! I'm...
Checking my calendar, yes always interested.
Winter camping or Pt. Reyes is always an option.
Have fun, wish I was going!
Aspen time, yes, very interested!
Yes, interested.
There is guy on YouTube, SacWildlife that hikes quite a bit in Desolation Wilderness, albeit on the ground, but will give you an idea of the terrain. There are plenty of trees although some areas may...
Great trip report Acacia! Yes, Greg is kind of like a celebrity but usually Thunder steals the show. Wish I could have made this one. Hopefully another one will be planned.
Thanks for the summary, sounds like it was a great time. Sorry I missed this one. Keep me posted if another one is planned.
I agree with E.A.Y.. I'm running out of hammock YouTube videos to watch.
Running way behind on post from the shoot today, so will not be able to do a day hike tomorrow. Man, I was so hoping to be on this outing. Have fun you lucky dogs and please, please, please let me...
Greg, my assignment Sunday is at noon, crap. BUT, I might see about coming up Saturday and doing a day hike with all of you. Will let you know. The weather is predicted to be perfect.
As of today I have an assignment to shoot on Sunday, however things could change.
Thanks Greg, Lake Spaulding sounds good to me, thanks for the information gathering. Knee feels much better but waiting to see if I have to work that weekend. Will keep you updated. So how is the fly...
On my calendar, although will have to see how my knee heals. Took a fall and landed on my left knee. Walk like an old man, which I am.
Count me in.
Dang! It was a great location for a get together hang.
Sounds good to me. In Fairfield.
Yep, another one. In Fairfield, East Bay.
When the campgrounds open you can hike into Desolation at Wrights Lake and Loon Lake.
Great idea, count me in. I think hiking season is going to be early this year.
Might be able to make it. Put me as tentative.
Count me in.
Sounds good!
Pt. Reyes, Sky Camp,
is always nice if the weather cooperates.
Most likely not. Planning on being in the Sierra photographing aspen. Will let you know if the plan changes.
Chofu, Class of 1970…..small world my friend. As far as quilts, I can highly recommend Hammock Gear. I own four of their products. Get outside and walk, it's beautiful..sayonara….gary

If I can get my jobs done I'm going to try to make it Saturday . Save me two trees.
And a big hello from Northern California. We have a group hang at Boggs State Forest April 4-6, come on up we would love to meet you. I'm just an old guy who got tired of crawling around on the...
It is nice to watch a true chef prepare such a culinary delight. You two put a smile on my face….thank you.
Yes, I also would like some information about camping there thanks!
UQP, one of my favorite pieces of gear. Take it on most trips unless it's warm.
2 Mountain Goats and still going strong, love them.
