I've got one. Super comfortable. Only 18 oz. "Folds" easily enough to tie on the outside of a pack. And probably fairly easy to DIY.

I made whoopies out of 550 cord. They are braided but have the 7 strands of cord inside. Beast of a time getting them pushed through, but doable..

Ditto on the REI pole repair sleeve. These seem like they are made for hammocking. They've worked great for me. And so light.
