Thanks but want to have a hole in ground where the post can be moved an capped for mowing. PVC in hole, galvanized 2.5-3" fence pipe above gound, 6-7 ft high
Any plans out there?
I need a hammock stand that is removable, ground based stand. Any plans out there. Search, too many hits to sort.
When the Blackbird was first introduced, Shug used to say he put gear in the foot box, thats what I do (Soft gear)with feet on top. But he thought his lay felt better when his feet were on the...
I echo everyone else congrats on your success and your new place! Hope its still in lanc too....
Its not a bad place to start. It was my first hammock and I still get it out when I want a more rigid feel to the hang. Its made of a very durable ripstop nylon but not stretchy like parachute silk....
Will have to check call schedule when it comes out then. Thanks for the invite. Pretty windy up there (N. MI) isnt it?
I have a Suzuki 1500 Intruder if it matters...
Its spreading, motorcycle camping sounds like a lot of fun. Just got mine where I can depend on it. Like to join you guys some time...
Good job Stormcrow! Always there for friends and hammock gear lovers everywhere.
The state campground on the south side of South Bass Island (Same island as Put-in Bay) used to be ideal for hammocks. some sites right on the water... Got to get there on a Thurs or early Fri as I...
What about the waist belt size and torso length?
Is the space (Expanded bottem) between the molly for a hydration bag? e.g. peregrine w/ hydration option
Great trip report michigandave and the dealing with the temp conditions. Good time of the year for hiking. Been to Shawnee on a 9.0 mi loop, which is close to Zaleski and it its very "Hilly" too. Lol...
The Claytor JH was my first hammock. I bought 4, 4 years ago but my impression was and is it is a very high quality product. (material and sewing.) They are all still in service to a firefighter as...
Welcome Tubadude, from Pickerington hanger.
I lurked for quite a while too...
I'll take one!
With suspension
Welcome Joel from Pickerington...
Lots of nice people here willing to share what they know.
Looks like you had fun! This is one of the very first things children should be taught about the woods because it could save their life!!! When lost, they most often times die of exposure before...
Never had a SOG knife but Love my Spyderco Endura, $75.00 and my Persistance, $26.00, (On amazon), their new line that is a high carbon steel (easy to sharpen, wicked sharp, full grind) that is a...
I have both hammocks and my Traveler (1.7 Single) is definitely more comfy and less confining. I too plan on getting "The Hug" bug net from Arrowhead Equip.
But I would keep the WBBB (1.7 Dbl) for...
Not had that problem yet but thanks for the heads-up.
I've had several "Buckle incidents" especially the Welded Triangle (Separated at weld) but also the satin Bison brand (Good quality but made for...
Congrats Dutch on your 10,000 units!
You fill demand with quality products at affordable prices and inspire many to do the same.... Don't stop, keep them coming!
You are one of many that make this...
Welcome Trevor! Great group of guys and gals here. Lots to learn if you will only ask when you have questions and use the resources on this great site.
Many are ultralight hammockers so I'm sure you...
I bought the Snoring Bear pillow (And the larger version) early in my hammock experience. While the SB pillow was only meant to support the back of the neck, (According to Paul) the larger is my fav,...
Check out Paul at www.arrowheadequipment.webs.com for Derick's "The Hug" bugnet (~$38.00). Very UL and functional. Only covers head and torso assuming you already have lower body coverage with TQ or...
I have a WBBB 1.7 dbl layer and at Brandon's suggestion I got 1/16" Microcel and cut it to my body shape (Shoulders to knees) to slip in between layers. It is very packable, light, blocks any wind...
Hearing the beating wings of a flight of geese flying low and rabbits playing in a light rain chasing each other, jumping over the other...
Rocking slow rejuvinates me in about 30-45 min.
I use the orig JH tarp and I find that it covers well and if I knew there was going to be rain with gusts expected, I would 1) Choose a site with natural wind protection. 2) Be very wary of...
I'm in Pickerington, OH and there's lots of Piney Woods out here.
Cost of hotels just makes stealth camping more practical... Just hit a McDonalds, wash up with some wipes and you're good to go,...
I have them on mine too, works good
Good for extending a too short tarp line too
Minimum of 15 feet (2 feet on either side) to allow for adjustments. The 30 deg angle of the straps to the hammock is pretty standard for max comfort. If you get the best comfort level, "Twang" the...
You really have a knack for adapt, improvise and overcome don't you!
I would have done a "Shake-down" trip in the backyard or close-by site where much of the problems would have been discovered...
Niteze makes a 6 inch heavy duty "Twist-ties" that work great.
Used to use thick, postal rubber bands but found they don't store for long periods very well.
Niteize makes some 3 and 6 inch heavy duty "Twist-ties" that work well in keeping the mess neat and tangle-free. Longer ones work better on polypro straps. Found them at Walmart and ****'s SG.
They...
Great Gift for a "Hanger". A treasure from your kids for sure...
Wish I had a place in the house to have a nap in the Traveler.
I agree with Rip, it wasn't intended for a winter UQ but a "spare" in 3S environment if needed. Haven't done an overnight with it but I would agree with high 30s. Certainly packs smaller (Major...
I actually requested Adam (Hammock Gear) make a Burrow as you described so that I could have a "Dual use" TQ. Contact him to go over the particulars but basically went with a footbox that is closed...
I also bought the 3 sheets of 1/16" minicel at the recomendation of Brandon. (Good insulation for the thickness) They were on Clearance but shipping a killer. Light, packable and if needed can be...
I found an alternative to arrow shafts, the black nylon? plastic insert to my generic thermal paper roll. They are about 4" long and 1/3" in diam. and fairly thick-walled.
Cool to find uses for...
Welcome Paul from a fellow Central Ohio Buckeye. I agree Shug's videos have taught me a lot too. So many more resources (And a lot of nice people) than just a year and a half ago...
Remember as...
The reason most people cut the pads down is because the less stiff pads bunch up at the waist area. If this doesn't bother you (Or you want it to take up less space) then you're set!
I think the...
I bought the 3 sheets of 1/16" (Last summer) because it was on clearance for $7.99 w/ few blemishes. I don't see the 1/8" on the site but you can double it or combine with your 1/4 " Evasote. If you...
Great review RockChucker30. GG pad is good quality stuff. Better to have more clothes than you need than to Have to sit up all night by the fire with your sleeping bag around you... (No pics, it...
Phoenix is a great name, Congrats Cranky Bear!
I'm waiting for a gram weenie to say they use epoxy-coated stir sticks... :)
You already know this but I like the original name, "CrowsNest" and if you had a vote, I bet it would win... (It could still be a contest, just let your customers decide) If the original name wins,...
After switching to Whoopie slings to reduce weight I wanted a light toggle. First used Al tent stakes, then cut up some Al thick-walled kids arrows. Now I am using the dreaded Carbon-fiber arrow...
No failures here yet (And I routinely swing in my hammock) but just like CF flyrods, there are different wall thickness for the "Weight " of the rod. So you can't make a blanket statement about CF...
Love my JH with the Whoopie Slings. SOOooo much lighter and takes up less room than standard or polypro webbing. Got some 5-6 mm diam carbon-fiber arrow pieces if you'd like to try it to further...
"I, O"
