Guildford here, will be out walking Frensham way this weekend.
Hello from another Surrey-based hanger :)
Tarp first but if the weather is nice I'll leave it wrapped in the snakeskin while I hang the hammock.
Got out in my lowest temp so far at -1 degrees C a couple of nights ago and then woke to torrential rain. Learnt that the cold isn't a problem and that my tarp will actually keep me dry. I was...
I've moved from a Dutch CRL to Stingerz - for me they are much easier and quicker to get the tarp up with the added benefit of the mechanical advantage when putting the tarp up gets it much tighter...
Add me to the list

The hammock is a Dutchware Chameleon and the ridge pole is 4m (or just over 13ft in old money).
Hello :)
From a fellow UK'er.
Mine arrived the other day, no import duty or taxes added due to the low cost, they don't meet the threshold for the added fees. They're very tiny aren't they? :)
They look good and I'm looking...
Order placed although I'm still unclear how they work - is there a cam that rotates and grips the line?
Even though I've moved to Stingerz rather than a CRL, I keep the CRL as a back up and never...
I've just tried Stingerz for the first time today and won't be going back to a CRL any time soon. A quicker, tighter and tangle free set up and just as quick, if not quicker to adjust the tarp...
My Burrow 20 shipped today, a couple of days short of 4 weeks so great going from the HG team!
Short of a miracle it won't be with me by my overnighter on Saturday but it should be here ready for...
Hello from Surrey :)
Out of interest, how do people store their CRL. Mine is from Dutch and has a Dutch hook, two Tato connectors and a Wasp. At the moment I slide all the hardware to the end of the hook and figure of...
Time to dig this up - I ordered a Burrow 20 to go with my Incubator 0 on the 19th Oct. I was spoilt when I ordered my Incubator as it was shipped after only 16 days but the current lead time is 4 - 5...
.....and now I have I have a HG Incubator 20 on the way. That's it for the foreseeable now, although a winter tarp would be nice....
Shug, I'm just a random bloke from the other side of the pond but just want to say thanks for your videos. May your antics continue for a very long time to come.
I don't know if it's just me but I can't see any pics.
Hello folks, I thought seeing as you were all kind enough to take the time to help me out, it was only right that I say thanks and result this thread.
In the end I made a self tensioning line by...
Congrats, enjoy! :)
Mine have still not arrived after 9 days, stuck in customs for the last three :(
Brilliant, thanks all. I'm off to read about knots....
Thanks for the help all, but what is a dog bone in this context?
Hello everyone,
Apologies for this post but I know with the wealth of knowledge on here there will be a simple, obvious answer for my question.
I want to extend a couple of tie outs on my tarp...
Just received a shipping email, 16 days after order :)
Hi T1tch, another UK'er here, not been on the site long myself.
I ordered my UQ on the 21st August, I'm definitely not checking my order status twice a day......:)
This is getting out of hand :)
I recently spent the night out in the local woods - slept like a baby. No I didn't wake up screaming in my own **** but I slept soundly. This may have been due to...
Welcome from a fellow new Chameleon owner in Surrey.
Another Southerner here (Surrey).
Hmmmmm, I'm wondering if I should have gone for the 1.6 instead of the 1.0 now. I'm 6'1 and 175lbs.
That's one of the things that appealed to me about the Chameleon over the WBBB XLC - the option to order the cover at a later date.
Just FYI, there's about a week/week and a half wait for a...
I've finally pulled the trigger and ordered a Chameleon 1.0, continuous ridgeline and some Dutch bling :)
Now I just need to sort myself out with a tarp and under quilt, which for now, I'm looking...
I've been switching back and forth from WBBB XLC -> DD Frontline -> Chameleon. I wanted the XLC, delivery, customs etc (I'm in the UK) put me off so I looked at the DD. However, it's a compromise,...
Thanks for the info, have a good weekend and keep me updated on the Chameleon (and the customs charges!).
What made you go for the Chameleon over the BB XLC? The rabbit hole deepens although I'm pretty sure when I finally pull the trigger and order something, it will be the right choice.
Well, I'm having second thoughts. Really, I want a Warbonnet XLC - it seems they are very well thought out and as an 11' hammock very comfortable. The trouble is, being in the UK I get stung with...
Thanks huyettm, good luck with your future trips.
Thanks, I will take a look.
Thanks, you're right, this is a great site, I've been absorbing as much info as I can!
Hello folks,
First of all wow, I've truly entered a hammock 'rabbit hole' I got it into my mind to do a multi day walk and without ever sleeping well in a tent and seeing someone (and hearing them...
