I am going to get a Hammeck Netty when I get enough nickels gathered.
Any chance you can do a quick video on your YouTube channel with the Netty....like you did with the Envy?
I know it is less complicated, but it would be nice to see exactly how it functions as well...
I figure any change is going to save weight compared to the 10' tree straps and descender ring suspension I was using.
I just pulled the weights off of websites selling the material...like Dutch.
I'm just glad you guys have the products in front of you and are willing to give accurate measurements. Thanks all.
Thank you for all the info.
I have narrowed it down to the SLD TL and the Hammeck Netty.
Really the only difference is the single lay (Netty) vs the universal lay (TL).
Materials can be the same,...
Thanks Sgt...great info.
Just quick info I came up with for my own knowledge...thought it was worth sharing.
Dynaglide 1000 lb limit 0.43g/ft
Mule Tape 1250 lb limit ...
I just saw AGG is using 1/2" muletape tree straps. Is the 1/2" width generally accepted as good tree straps... ie, not damaging the tree?
I see even a few people are using thin cordage while...
I too am interested.
Some of the cottage makers are moving to Argon and Hexon and other stuff. Others are still using "just nylon ripstop".
I'm wondering if it really makes that much difference.
After checking a little further, the Simply Light Trail Lair is the only "universal" lay hammock. All of the others you have to pick left or right lay, and they are sewn so you have to stay with...
I have a Superfly and an giving serious consideration to the Dutch tarp worms. I currently use Brandon's cordage plan.
While I obviously have not done it yet, here are my plan.
Tarp worms and...
After gathering some more info, I created this list comparing some of the more popular bug net hammocks I could find.
The Hammeck Netty was already at the top of my list after reading different...
Which hammock did you order?
I agree with you, there are a million different options. I love to tinker and customize, but inevitable the farther I get away from "stock", the less it seems to...
Is there a website that sells cordage in 100-200' lengths...that won't break the bank?
I am looking for amsteel 7/64 and dynaglide.
I learn something new every day.
Does dynaglide or 7/64 amsteel work better for tying knots?....both in terms of not slipping as well as longevity of the material.
I have a Thermarest RidgeRest pad that I am thinking about using in a single layer hammock.
I assume most folks using pads put them in a 2 layer, but I'd rather just have a single.
Interesting...I have not heard of this before.
Do you have some pictures of your setup?
One thing I learned about Hammeck Netty is that you have to choose which way you want to lay, because the net is cut asymmetrical.
It is very similar to the DH RoamingGnome, but the RoamingGnome...
I'd be interested in part of a roll of "7/64 Amsteel"....any color....if somebody wants to split off 100' or so.
Finally somebody else that feels my pain.
Being in W. Washington, we got some big trees.
My old setup was 15' straps using the ring suspension.
I am looking to create a lighter weight, (no...
Are you using tree straps?
I was looking at getting the cinche buckle suspension but I am looking to save a little weight. Figured not using anything metal would be a good way to accomplish that.
Holy cow...I think my brain has turned to mush after reading all 15 pages of this thread.
The part I am particularly seen here at 5:53 and 6:44
I am contacting you because it seems you have a number of hammocks, and may be able to shed some light for me.
I am looking for a hammock with integrated bug net.
On my list are the Hammeck...
Good idea ps22285
I keep hearing about the WBBB and its footbox. Does this differ than just a regular gathered end hammock (like DH I assume is made)?
It appears that some hammocks are actually...
Ha ha...perfect timing for me to find this thread.
I am new to the hammock thing...I am actually looking to get a bugnet hammock right now.
I'll keep an eye out and hope to make the next W.WA hang.
I didn't know about the together forum...I'll check it out. Thanks
I'd love to hear more.
I am looking for hammock with bugnet.
The WBBB, the RoamingGnome and this are on my short list.
Thanks for the insight.
From what I have seen and read, I believe everything you say. WBBB is the only hammock that explicitly mentions the shelf and footbox...these seem to really set them apart.
There seems to be quite a few options from Dream Hammock...but I have yet to hear anybody say something negative about the 10' WBBB. So far it's at the top of my list.
Now....what are the chances I...
Thanks for the info.
I forgot to mention I am 5'11"...which is right on the cusp of fitting the 10' and moving up to an 11'.
If I may be so bold...why the move from the WBBB to the Thunderbird?
I am looking to get a new hammock...one with mosquito netting built in.
The top 2 seem to be the Warbonnet Blackbird and the Dream Hammock RoamingGnome.
Has anybody used both? can you...
This does not have any "kotty mod" but you simply lay at and angle and it works for an asymmetrical lay...that is the advantage of the 11' length.
There is no bug net included, but there are many...
I have a double layer, gathered end hammock for sale...custom made by Butt In a Sling.
It has only been used on 3 occasions as I just haven't had time...
I look forward to hearing more. I have a ridgerest, and am always looking for other options. I especially like that one is 25" wide.
I paid for my on the 28th and got the shipping notice on the 3rd. Have patients, I am sure Tim is just busy.
Yes, 10% of custom stuff and 20% off pre-made stock.
Now I'm just trying to take it slow and not jump into a ProdigyX underquilt.
He says at the start of the new year he is dropping the X...
Thanks for your help....I ordered a ProdigyX 30, and got it 20% off through the sale.
Regarding sleeping pads...was the Thermarest foam pad by itself good enough?
Unfortunately that is the only pad I have for ground and hammock sleeping (to slide inside the double layer hammock).
I will probably spend more nights on the ground, so this is good to hear.
I live in the Seattle area, so as much as I want down I am going to synthetic due to the rain. I...
Have you had a chance to use the Prodigy quilts yet?
How did the 20* version work?
Would you recommend getting a warmer bag or are the ratings pretty accurate?
Question for any current owners...how does the temp rating compare the the actual warmth in said temp?
Would you go for a lower rated quilt or are they generally pretty accurate?
You have to re-purpose stuff when you live in the 'burbs.
It is a 2 layer Hiker Lite with 2x 10' webbing (also from BIAS) and rappeling rings from REI. The inside is black and the outside is grey...
Well the wait is finally over...the hammock arrived today.
Can you send me that tracking info...I have not received anything.
Shane, I look forward to the update... but no hammock today.
It is great that Brian and Shane are getting a growing list of customers, but they need to address that growing list of customers.
I am excited to get the gear and use it... I have heard nothing...
Well folks, I too am in line. I sent my Paypal on May 27th and have not gotten my hammock yet.
I finally contacted Brian, and his email stated my hammock would be in the mail at the end of...
Just sew a channel on the end and add suspension?
I am looking for a larger and heavier duty hammock for backyard and car camping use.....with kids (the killer of all gear).
I am thinking a larger gathered end hammock made of taffeta or some other...
