if only there was a more subdued colour :)
I left one of my speed anchors at a remote campsite. thankfully I brought a spare woopie
mate, I reckon you should start simple and ease into the whole hammocking thing.
start with day hanging, grab a Dutch hammock with woopie suspension, then just hang in the back yard. you'll learn...
it's compounded by the fact I have a RidgeRunner, but I'd say at least 80% of my hangs there's another tree or bush in the way
the olive brown works for me. multicam is expensive and not that good
I like the Underground Quilts (UGQ). I have a top and bottom for my RidgeRunner. they're quality construction, warm and light weight. and with the water proof down, I have no worries about humidity
did you adjust the cords? you can vary the quilt from hanging very loose to super snug just by adjusting the cords/bungee
yeah, I have a 12 footer too. H000GE!
biggest problem I have is finding clear spacer to hang. love the coverage tho
so how does one sew this together?
yeah, super easy to patch. mine even came with a small piece of cuben tape.
fwiw, the ridge line is actually made using tape (not sewn), so tape is plenty strong
with the Aussie dollar in the toilet, I can't afford to buy another set. so I'd love to be a guinea pig :)
best gathered end hammock I've tried
quick photo of one of my leads after using original speed hooks. I think I might retire them :)
put a small hole in my HG cuben tarp on the weekend :(
and yes they're very noisy in the rain.
fwiw, the zpacks dry bag is too small
usually a lack of stock
as I said it in another thread, I find 83% is not quite right. unfortunately I haven't had a chance to experiment further as the kids kicked me out of the hammock on the weekend
hmm, I was suspecting sharp edges rather than burs being the cause, but maybe I didnt have it tight enough before loading up ?!?
fitted a ridgeline on the weekend. I think 83% or 110" may not be the best. shorter seems better.
anyway, the kids kicked me out and I didnt get much use :)
got my summer sock the other day. great piece of kit, very impressed!
now if only the kids would let me use the hammock!
used my hooks for the first time today. very nice thankyou. easily cut 300mm off my minimum hang distance
unfortunately they must have some sharp edges, as I noticed some fuzzing on the leads...
it's my leads that are frayed, not the continuous loops
mine are definitely frayed. I ran my finger over the hook but cant feel any burs ;/
when I put new suspension on my Dutch Argon, I also scraped the ground on first use.
second time around and it was just like the old suspension
ie. there's a lot of give in new unused suspension
any chance of a pic? the pics above look like a single strand of amsteel?!?
Dutch, can you confirm these hooks work fine with a Warbonnet RidgeRunner?
looks like I need to make another order!
Dutch sells Gutermann
love my Ambush, but I'm about 4" too short for your requirements
use a continuous loop on the end of the hammock.
Warbonnet attaches whoopies etc directly to the hammock and then uses a biner to attach to the tree strap, Dutch does it the other way around ie....
adutchable clip or multiple wraps takes care of small trees, and for big trees you just run the amsteel around the tree and through the loop or buckle (obviously not the weight bearing section)
the last package took 3 weeks to arrive, must have been a slow boat!
heh, I was kinda joking, and shipping to the US would be prohibitive...
fwiw, I have 6 x whoopie hooks and 4 whoopie slings, also 2 x dutch clips
add the aDutchable buckles for the ultimate in convenience
no crabs with my RidgeRunner. and because I didnt read that fine print I installed the woopie the wrong way around :/
speed hooks for a bridge hammock
and possibly a speed biner?!?
I think my head might just explode!!
ps. anybody wanna buy some "old" Dutch gear :P
I'm going to build myself some poles for my RidgeRunner using stock carbon tubes. head end 10mm OD with 2mm wall. the ferrules will be 8mm OD (also 2mm wall). foot end will be 8mm with 6mm ferrule....
ooh, looks like the design has changed slightly
got a pic?
please explain, my googling didn't show anything :)
yep, agree 100%
heh, I bought a set of buckles and whoopies a week before the new stuff was announced
I'd advertise them on here, but shipping back to the USA would suck
too much awesomeness!
just 1 question, how does a fixed line attach? is it just tied on?
yay, they finally arrived!
now to sneak in a trial run in the back yard
why would you be limited in tree selection? or are you referring to minimum needed distance??
I'm also interested to know this, as I have a 12footer
I'm going away in 3 days, so here's hoping they arrive soon
btw, is the summer version going to use ARGON 67 ?
also, another idea, slightly more belly in the centre area, so that you could cinch it up (like a girls corset). this would then reduce airflow...
I'm keen for the summer version.
Australia does get cold, but not often
