i'm 6'5, 380, and the hold me fine, never hit the ground yet!
for me, below 70 and i am using a underquilt, which you can vent if needed. I have a 3 season 30degree set from arrowhead that i use down to about 40, and if it is going to be in the 30s, i use my...
i don't want to read the whole thread, so i am not sure if it has been said, BUT, one of the advantages on an ENO DN is that it has the pocket already attached. I drop my kimber ultra carry 45 in...
O-H-I-O
Welcome from buckeye country!
I on the otherhand don't use a ridgeline, i just eyeball it, never had a problem. But I use whoopieslipngs on the ends, so it makes it real adjustable. As far as rope for tying out the tarp, i use...
for me personally, all i use is the setup you have. I tend to pitch my tarp seperate from the hammock and net. when i used the bug net this weekend, all i did was hang the hammock, run the supplied...
yeah bib, i had absolutely NO issues whatsoever
no, i can't play on weekends except for sundays. plus its just way too hot. i will see yall in late september.
having switched over to hammocks 2 years ago, last night was the first chance i have had to use a bugnet. i hate summer camping as it is too hot, but i had to make an appearance in the woods...
i have 2 eno dn's and i am a huge fan of hammockgear quilts, good people, good product. and i would recommend going with full length quilts.
if it was me, i would just use a 20 set and vent if needed. if it gets bitter cold, wear all your clothes to bed.
I am not a DIY guy, so i bought 2 texsport hammock stands. they come in 6 pieces, are made of tubular metal, supports my 375 lbs, and for only $60 each, it made life easy. even used one last night in...
if you are not going to spend the money on a quality top quilt, i would just use a marmot 15 trestles bag. they can be found for about $89. But eventually you will want a top quilt, of which i would...
just requested to be added. I need to find some people who don't work mon-fri 9-5....need some hanging friends....
I had a nx-250 and loved it. i tend to find myself in nasty weather...cold/windy/bad storms,etc.... i ended up selling it to ballonatic who wanted it to hike the AT. I miss that hammock, but for me,...
is anyone able to stay sunday night? I can come up on sunday and even stay til tuesday if anyone wants to....really any sunday-tuesday works for me
I have had 2 keltys, i have been nothing but pleased with them. So for those on a budget, i would recommend the kelty noahs tarps
2 things come to mind,
1st: if you are hiking in an area known for fog, you may want to skip the down and go to synthetic. I picked up a synthetic set fairly cheaply (in the greater scheme of...
not that everyone didn't already say it, but definately an UQ
i am a big fan of the kelty tarps. they are cheap - $50-65 depending on size, are good quality, and have lots of tie-outs. good bang for the buck. my kelty noahs 12 can be set up in an a-frame...
i used the kelty noahs 12 for 2 of us to hang under. it was awesome, and cheap.
anyone interested?
in southeastern ohio, there is a network called the twin valleys or twin creeks metro parks. there is a network where you can do up to 44 miles of hiking. it may save you from having to drive 6 hours...
Hey everyone, I am looking to get some peeps together to do a sunday-tuesday hang. I am the oddball who works all weekends, but some of you said that with a couple of weeks notice, you might take off...
I just use climbing rated lightweight carabiners
yes, we do want to "lick it". us ohio folks are kinda wierd. Jenny and adam, you need to drink some beers in celebration. You guys are awesome folks and glad I can call you my friends. Whether its...
I went a slightly different route, I bought a steel hammock stand made by texsport. Its kind of shaped like a banana. It was about $70 (I bought 2). I can take it down, move it, whatever, and it...
,looks like the pack has been taken off my hands
mike, is it big enough for you (width wise)? my buddy mac wants a top quilt but is concerned it isn't wide enough.
PM me.
its called the recon butt pack...from fox
the pick is of the basic pack, but i added the fox brand lumbar pack molle, and the butt pack.
any other questions, let me know
dont have a pic, but it is USGI issue, large main compartment, zippered lower compartment, SAW pouches on the outside (will swallow just about anything), plastic external frame, meant to carry lots...
FS, army deployment pack, excellent shape, added hard to find butt pack, and also the recon lumbar pack via molle attachment. Color is ACU green.
Asking $100 or willing to trade possibly an ENO DN...
I would love to win, plus I am 1/4 irish!
To Steeler Nation......
One Word.........

I use hammockgear's 0 degree custom wide and long quilts. I have another set from another mfgr, but the quality in the hammockgear is second to none, plus i love the head closer snap idea.
i say go cheap with the eno dn. i started expensive, bought the clarks nx250, but it turned out it didn't fit me right. switched out to an ENO dn, and it is great. added a bugnut later (which i still...
I have the 12 and love it, the 16 would be great for two hammocks in a frame with closed doors mode. the 12 is great for one with closed doors, or 2 in diamond formation. i love the kelty noahs...
i can't make crap. but you guys are awesome for doing this!
I like the looks of it, would be interested in a "big papi" sized version
haven't been on the ground since i discovered hammocks
i recommend the burrow....just contact them and have them make it a little wider for you. thye custom made m some quilts xtra wide and xtra long
it depends on if you are a cold or warm sleeper. Having the extra clothes should be fine, worst case scenario if you get to cold, put on your rain gear, it will act as an additional windblock/warmth...
I just liked you... Tom Botkin
I will keep in touch and see about a sunday/monday gig...i appreciate the flexability. i was lamenting tonight that even though my food cart business is doing well, i can't get out weekends because...
i can head towards cleveland too, i just don't know any of the trails up there....you would have to take point if I come north.
mike, i have done the north loop, good hiking, now i want to do the south. you available any sun/mon/tuesdays?
hey guys, i know you think i am AWOL, but my business doesn't really allow me to take weekends off.
I am looking for anyone who can hang sunday/monday/tuesdays.
I am looking to do more...
at 6'5, 375, i use the eno dn and it is very comfortable. it is a great, basic, comfy hammock, especially for big dudes. when you get into quilts, call adam at hammockgear and tell him you want the...
hammockgear, without a doubt
