It greatly depends on your snow tolerance...If you don't mind snow camping/snowshoeing, there are tons of places to go. If you don't want the snow you are limited to the coast range and other low...
Hey there...
I live in the PNW and have both a SF and a hammock gear cuben hex. I feel your pain at having to make a decision between the two. Honestly, I think I would take the weight penalty...
Welcome to the area!
+1 on Oregon Hikers, Washington Trails Association, and 60 hikes within 60 miles. The Oregon side of the Gorge that was affected by the fire is closed now and will be for the...
I have a Hennessy Cub Zip with the tarp that you can have if you're willing to pay shipping. Both my kids have outgrown it but it is in good shape with original suspension. It's just taking up...
Eagle Creek is definitely the most bang for the buck as far as waterfalls go...However, it is currently closed due to a wildfire. I'm sure it will be open by your trip date though. I just don't...
A good resource is www.oregonhikers.org They have a field guide and a "find a hike" search that you can use. There is a ton of information there and, just like on this site, plenty of people...
If you guys get back up there, consider the Grouse Vista trailhead. The road to it is easily accessible with a passenger car.

Bump with price drop to 130 inc shipping. If interested, please pm me...I do not check the forums every day. As always, the first "I'll take it" takes it. Thanks
bump with price drop to $150 including shipping to CONUS
I have for sale one lightly used Gregory Whitney 95 backpack size large. This pack was used once on a two week trip through Yosemite. There are a couple of barely noticeable pitch stains on the...
I used my Atlas straps there a couple years ago with no issues...Lots of huge trees, but also lots of just trees in general, so no problems finding some of the appropriate size.
I'll take it....the BMBH
You would have to post this just as I finally decided I could ditch my atlas straps and go with Dutch 5' Kevlar straps and mule tape... ;-)
Guess I'll be packing some amsteel dogbones just in...
I started with a Hennessey Explorer deluxe. I really liked it but it was a little on the heavy side and always felt like it was a just a little too short for me (I'm 6'1"). I went to a Dream...
Just across the river in Vancouver here..
I think I hung in that exact spot at Cathedral Lake 2 years ago...amazing
I will try to make it. I get back from a two week trip to Yellowstone on the 17th so I'm not sure if I'll want to pack right back up again and head out for another trip, but I would love to meet...
PM sent...
I'll take it...PM to follow
I use 6" zing-it dogbones. I know some others use zing-it with a couple loops, I think at between 3-6" and then at 9-12" for different conditions/configurations.
Soon to be another very satisfied customer....congratulations!
I have 2 Dream Hammocks....Can't imagine you'll be disappointed
I've got one with the asym fly...how much are you looking to spend?
6'1" here and a big +1 on the 11 footers
I never use the original stuff sack...Just slide on the snake skins, fold them over to about a foot long, wrap the suspension around it to keep it bundled, then strap it to the outside of my pack..
 Dutch definitely rocks!
Congratulations...you look like a happy hammocker. Is there any such thing as an unhappy hammocker?
+1 on that...well said, Shug
Thanks for the heads up! Amsteel supply is replenished :D
Welcome from the PNW..
That looks awesome!
Hey All-
I have decided this year to try to lighten my load a bit. My previous suspension consisted of Atlas straps connected to my whoopie slings by carabiners. I bought some speed hooks not...
Never seen an XLC, but I absolutely love my 11ft Roaming Gnome...
Congrats...my first was an explorer deluxe zip too...was comfortable but just a little short. Have moved on to an 11" Dream Hammock, but you have a fine hammock there, sir.
God help me, but I'll take it...PM to follow
Probably already said, but, since you already have the equipment, try using the sleeping bags as top insulation and the pads for bottom...if it doesn't work, then you can make the investment. My...
Mmmm...let's see..It would have to be my first hammock. A HH Exp Dlx with a hex tarp. Oh wait..then I got whoopie slings. Then there were those awesome tarp flyz. Then came that amazing Dream...
I' a side sleeper and have done so successfully in both my HH explorer and my DH roaming gnome. The gnome is longer and wider and is definitely more comfy...
I love my RG...I had the same concerns about the single zippers. I just had DH add extra zipper pulls to each side and it works great. Thanks Papasmurf!
My advice would be to set it up and hang in it for a couple nights...then start tweaking it from there...who knows? you may love it just like it is. There are as many different setups as there are...
Maybe just order it as "custom work"?
Congratulations..I've been "playing around" with my setup for about a year and a half now. Every time I get it right, I see a new youtube video, post on here, or Dutch comes out with some awesome...
Welcome from SW WA
Welcome...as mentioned before, it can be an expensive hobby...but soooo worth it IMO.
Welcome...tons of great info here.
Great....looks like my kids are going to community college..
I think Dutch is leading a conspiracy to separate all of us from our money....every time I think I have everything I need, he introduces a new "must have" Come on, man...I got kids I need to put...
