Isn't it more like the old urethane coatings? Those were on the inside. The fabric would wet, but the coating wont help keeping it from leaking through? I guess you want to keep the fabric dry, so...

In regards to right/wrong side.
Since momentum is a DWR, wouldn't it make sense to put that coating inside. This way it will be subjected to less abrasion and hopefully as a result last longer?
