Is this like peeing in your bed?:D
Cool :D, naw, COLD
Yes, and I always need to retie one end after I sit in it & stretch it out.
Part 2 - Hennessey
I set up my hammock in the dark. It took me at least twice as long to set up as Hilleberg Soulo. I used a HH UL BP, a MacCat standard tarp set up low and tight, JRB RMS...
This is part 1 of a 2 part review
I recently took delivery of a Hilleberg Soulo (thanks Quoddy...
Thanks for the response

Congrats to you Hogn8tr.
This weeks cold front gave me an opportunity to lower my personal record to 18.5*. I used a JRB Nest underquilt, a Ridgerest deluxe, a Z-rest sideways for wings, a...
I own the nest and use it much more often than any bag. I do tend to agree with Oetzi about wanting more down. I wish I could order it or the ORM / RMS with overfill since I am a cold sleeper.
This is from the Gossamer Gear newsletter
I need some help here folks. We're going to discontinue the 1/4 inch standard, but are debating the 1/4 inch wide. The wide was brought out...
Hi Hammock Hangers,
Winter is approaching and I have been gearing up for cold weather (single digits). I am ready to upgrade my underquilt / pad.
What winter pad do you use and what R value is...
You may recall when we met at Springer last year. I had just survived my first gusty mid-upper 30* night in a hammock. I had only a fleece bag, a pad, wool sweater & stocking cap.
I have heard blood curdling screams immediately followed by Hoo Hoo Hoo Hoo.
I imagine some rodents met their maker.
You all are married, right? :D
In my closet
2. I am not sure. I always have to tighten my HH after climbing in after a new hang. This after ~20-30 nights.
3. None that I know of, except to tighten it up.
This hammock for sale didn't last long.
I didn't even get a chance to see the thread and it's gone.:(
Maybe it's time to Tie-Dye the Madcap Tarp and flashback to the 60s.:D
Then again, I may just be giving away my age.:o
Great trip report. I really enjoyed reading it. I'm glad you took your hammock and found adequate trees to hang from. Great pics too.:D
My wife & I made our 1st NW trip this...
I'm 5'-11.5". Is the HHAR too short for me?
Don't glue the pad to the inside of the bag, but try sewing in a sheet to make a pocket for the pad. This is a better approach and allows removal of the pad so the bag can be cleaned.
If anyone is interested in hiking 16 mi from Davenport Gap to Max Patch Saturday please PM me.:)
I was just trying to keep up with you, and beat the rain. Hooch & Slowhike, thanks for the offer. I'd be happy to slowdown just for the company.
Is anyone interested in hiking from Davenport Gap to Max Patch on Saturday Sept 15?
If not, would you be willing to give me a ride to either end from Hot Springs? We'll be...
My wife & I went to Oregon & Washington in early July. We hiked Eagle Creek Trail, PCT, Timberline, & Graves Creek Trail enroute to the Enchanted Valley in Olympic National Park. It was a...
Last October, I embarked on my first hammock hanging backpacking trip. Temps dropped from low 50s to mid 30s w/ 15-20 mph steady wind with no warning from the weather forecast. I was...
I love using my 8oz Gossamer Gear G5 to hammock backpack.
But, I do use a torso length Ridgerest & it makes the GG G5's frame.
The pack has a perfect lower compartment for a quilt / bag.
Place a jacket or something under your knees to elevate them. See if that helps.
Another thing to check; is the hammock level or are the feet slightly elevated? If you hang the hammock...
6 feet over,
Yes, pretty much any bag will compress. That is why people use pads &/or underquilts.
Glad that you found the Hammock Forums.
Hanging offers more than a light pack. A hammock packs much smaller than a 2 man tent. It is cooler in the summer. They are less...
It seems that WB is down again.
OK, together everyone...I do believe in WB, I do, I do....
Good Luck Attroll
Good Pics Ewker.
That's a big tree. ~9 ft dia?
The wheel looks like it belonged to a steam tractor.
Thanks for posting,
I have trouble sleeping if I over exerted myself during the day or if there are strange or loud noises about at night. Ear plugs take care of the 2nd problem.
I'm not worried about being a bear...
Way to go! You are the bandito slayer.:D
Hammocking is easy, sleeping on the ground is hard. The complications arise trying to keep warm. There are an endless number of solutions to solve that problem. Hammockers deal with conductive...
The standard works for me.
Selecting gear is the art of compromise. What is driving your decision, comfort? weight? money? Sometimes you want flexibility, so buy both the micro & the deluxe.
I am curious about the weather at LG. I was in the Nantahala area with Hikernutt, Tim, & Bobbyray. Low around 12* & wicked wind. Snow ~4-6 in & drifts on the trail up to 2 ft. I chickened out of...
Is Linville Gorge in lieu of the Foothills trail?
I'd love to join the FHT hike if it's still happening. I've canceled hikes there twice already due to hiking partner's canceling & no shuttle...
Has anyone seen or heard of any new gear for 2007 that is innovative or is a big improvement over last years offerings?
Once a gearhead, always a gearhead.
No alcohol stove posts please.
Anyone interested in selling some pythons or snake skins?
Try on a pair of oversized Sierra Design mutts over wool socks. I picked up a pair for <$25 & they compress pretty good.
I also found out that too tight socks &/or long underwear cause...
This should be the 1st entry in the hammock humor forum
I have a new MacCat standard. I used it w/ my HH BPUL 2 weeks ago, good coverage.
I used it with my LEKIs for a traditional tarp set up on the ground this week. Good protection...
This question is directed to Smee, Pan, & Jeff,
What was the most common underquilt set up problem that you saw?
I've heard of someone using 2 underquilts and still is cold at 20*, & I've...
Not enough flexibility (range) for changing conditions. Look at their ARC 3/4 w/ a down sweater / jacket.
Do you have more dreams when sleeping in a hammock than in a bed or in a tent? I sure do.
Once it was UFOs buzzing around the hammock.
Last weekend it was some dudes cutting the...
