Backer Number 8 here. My stand arrived 5 OCT 2016 sometime after 1800 EST while I was at Scouts. When I made it home at sometime after 2100 I was able to unbox and setup the dang thing in my living...
Buy a map pack from outrage GIS for Red River Gorge. It will show you all of the short little trips to take. If you plan on staying in the same spot for a couple of nights I suggest camping next to a...
Eh when your in the woods and "that bear" is hungry, he's either going to choose a bear burrito, or a bear pot-pie. :scared:
I'm just shy of 400 lbs and have a set of 1.5 inch straps from arrow head equipment. They are the greatest!!!
I use a 78 inch wide hammock and love it. I tried a narrower version and my feet keep falling off the side. I might try the 72 but I'd be losing 6 inches.
Whhooooo BUuuuudy the kickstarter is fully funded and then some. I can't wait, can't wait. can't wait.
There's always the double festival /camping combo model available. There doesn't appear to be a limited number of spots for that pledge. I was toying with that one myself. I wonder if there's a way...
Yeah I went for the camping model too. Can't wait, can't wait
Welcome aboard from Lawrenceburg, KY. It's an addiction it really is
Has anyone heard from V_Allen? I tried sending him a PM yesterday, I also tried contacting him via his website a few days ago. I had a couple of questions about the bridge hammock too. I don't want...
Dang it will it be available by March 13, 2016? I've been looking at making a stand for a bridge hammock and this would be a better option. I have to go out of state for training for my job in March...
looking at the pic it appears that they were laying on the ground. I wonder if the pole bend when they first entered the hammock, or sometime during the night.
Ctrl + 0 will put back to default zoom level.
Dagnabit!
The wife was just talking about wanting to get out and hammock camp again sometime soon, it will be her second time; This would have been the perfect opportunity. Unfortunately I'm taking...
Just using cheap straps with clip buckles from wally world, I can get mine to compress down to the size of a cantaloupe.
Welcome back. Would you say it was the "best two years" of your life so far? Sounds like it's time to start searching for a new place to hang around. :shades:
Yeah that was me. I guess I should have looked at the link before reposting it. Man I didn't know it wasn't for sale on amazon anymore. That's cool that you can still order the battery direct from...
I have the transcend EZEX travel machine. I'm not sure if my machine is faulty or if it's normal behavior but; When I breath in it has enough pressure for the initial beginning of the breath, but...
welcome to the obsession of a life time.
Count me in please.
cpap machine, mask, hose, small stuff sack that the mask and hose are stored in holds my pocket items, and a head lamp; cause I have to get up at least once a night to go weeeeeeeee.
Good luck with the P8 battery like I mentioned I have a setting of 12 and consistently can only get 10 hours use out of that battery. I guess if I was sleeping like I would with out the cpap, a five...
I'm happy that one worked out for you. I know I had a heck of a time trying to find a battery pack that was over 10 watt hours for a decent price. I was even looking into buying the raw materials and...
It's not that bad at all I would definitely recommend this section. If you start out going south from the Livingston area, exit 49 on I-75 which was once a heavily used off road area, the trail has...
Shoot if you like to sleep topless you should try getting out when you can sleep bottomless at the same time too. It is so much more comfortable.
Sorry I can't offer any tips or hints for that section of the Sheltowee Trace. I haven't made it down that far south yet. I keep hiking from livingston down to cumberland falls. I was going to offer...
I love the 5.11 tactical kilt. I have one and two more on order as I type this.
For me Kilts are comfortable and on the trail I dry out a lot quicker when wearing one. I have an overabundance of...
Arrow Head Equipment has a nice line of under, and top quilts. The synthetic ones are pretty reasonable on price as well as weight. I have the new river long and it works for me. I can even get it to...
Yes sometimes it is. Especially around the Indian staircase, and grays arch areas. A lot of the people are just there for the day to swim in the river, or day hike the trails. I've started section...
It's kind of an intersection where you go left to head towards grays arch, but instead the boys leading the troop turn right cause they can't navigate and don't wait for the rest of the troop to get...
Hey Opie,
Have you gotten back to the thread injector yet?
Hey guys I just purchased this little gem. I have a pressure setting of 12 and I can get four 7 hour nights out of it. I just used it on a recent backpacking trip last weekend and it performed...
I'm a big guy too 6'4" 375 lbs. I made myself some whoopie slings out of 1/8 amsteel. Being a bigger guy I increased the size of the rope for the popular 7/64 to 1/8, and also made the constrictor...
My first trip to any place new. I want to minimize the miles, especially if I'm not sure what the terrain is like. A topo map helps but for a first time in a new place I will limit my distance of...
welcome from Lawrenceburg, KY. I work in Frankfort. This site is the greatest.
Ahe does do custom work you could always ask them if it's possible.
Go to sheltoweetrace.com and you can look at their interactive maps, and download their topo. PDFs. I will be section hiking from I75 down to Cumberland falls starting march 28. Its only 45 miles...
You all enjoy the weekend. stay safe while hiking in the rain. I know some of those trails can be slick and muddy.
use a cheap climatek walmart sleeping bag. They are small and with an underquilt they work great.
There's a hangout scheduled for March 12-15 in RRG. KY Red River Gorge March 12 to 15 Funky-Pig-Hang
My daughter and I are also planning on a 50+/- mile backpacking trip on the Sheltowee Trace...
I love my new river long.
Not sure how it double posted so deleting the text from the second post
Last time I was on the Osborne Bend and Lost Branch we started out from where you will be finishing up your hike. It was a nice steady up hill trek, so I guess I should say enjoy the descent....
I've always considered the following for trail names:
1. They have to be given by someone else. You can't/shouldn't pick your own.
2. The name will reflect an experience that happens on the...
larks head it through the end channel. really not that different than the way the stock rope is attached on an ENO DN.
I'll take it

Offer withdrawn.
Unable to complete the transaction with seller. Have had no communication with Titobob since 9/19/2014. No money sent, no item shipped.
I believe they are there for head and foot end tie outs. You string the lines through the loops and the underquilt will stay snug to the side of the hammock.
