Yes, D'Tape, I remember that well. Not fondly, but well.
I figured if you would have made a noise you had at least a chance of being saved.
THAT was probably too much wind.

First and foremost:
I wish I had more time and resources to get out and hang more!
After that:
Down under quilt.
Down top quilt.

Welcome to HF from yet another ex-FL'ian.
Your trail name, got me thinking. Are you a trad bow hunter? TBoF member maybe?

R'Dog and I'Dog, West Canada's. Yes. That's where I'll, I mean we'll be, too. Spruce Lake #2. You've got the emails, no?
The more cartilage donated, the better.
FWIW. My remnants are destined...

Usually being in my presence gets one a fancy new label, like trouble maker, rabble-rouser, h#ll raiser...
It is I that have the honor when we get together. And will have to do so again....
R'Dog,
The next trip I'm headed for is the L2R trip at the end of the month. With as much sweat and cartilage as I've left out there during the previous two epic (and I do really mean epic)...
If'n you bananas don't mind being seen with the likes of me, keep me in mind for hanging out sometime.

No need for any new or special holes in your hammock. Just roll to the side, unzip, and let'r rip. Actually, this is one of the best, and most unexpected, benefits of having my Hennessy modified by...
Welcome to the disease that is hammocks.
Although he won't admit it publicly, I'm one of the others that Duct Tape has been known to hang with on occasion.

Welcome to HF's from an ex-FL'ian!

Athens, GA. Home of R.E.M., The B-52's, Pylon, The Swimming Pool Q's, Love Tractor... Lots of great stuff from that sleepy little college town!
Welcome to HF's.

Charlie,
Make no apologies for your rope hammock. This was my first hammock and have spent many, many nights in it.
No matter if cost $15, like my old, green, net hammock, or you have to take...
Welcome to the hanging madness from the eastern side of the Finger Lakes.

Another ex-FL'ian here. Escaped the madness that South FL became about a dozen years ago and never looked back. There's nothing outside of a few restaurants and the 'Glades that I miss about FL.

Mod 3 here and absolutely LOVE it.

Oooh you'll be a convert. It only takes one night of no crawly bugs, no mud, no rocks or roots, nothing but comfort.

Welcome to HF from a fellow hammock hanger that was "Made in America, with Swedish Parts." (All of my grandparents emigrated to the US.)

North Lake is the headwaters of the Black River. Not too far downstream from the dam at the outlet of the lake is a place where the river bends towards the road and there's a parking pull-off there....
Scheduling gets tough with the kids back in school, but I'm certainly up for the possibility of hanging out in the woods.

It's times like that when I turn my wife's own words around and use them on her.
When I walk in the house after work and she's standing there holding a shopping bag I know exactly what's coming...
D'Tape. Indeed we did. You know that route well, ala L2R. ;)
My daughter is still asking daily to get out before school starts. You still interested in hiking with me and two overly giddy, 13 year...
It's been February since I've been able to actually get out and camp. February! It's surprising, and a testament to my general good nature (or just being old) that the lack of woods-time had gone on...

Likewise. Incredibly small world, eh?! My tax dollars go to Camillus, my kids go to West Gennie, but my mail comes from down on Milton (Syracuse).
Yeah, D'Tape is one of the crazies, too. Crazier...
Hi Tom,
If memory serves me (and at my age it often doesn't) I believe we've exchanged emails a few years back on a volunteer group that D'Tape and myself somehow find ourselves doing backwoods...

Welcome from a former South FL'ian. (Couldn't take the ever increasing madness, bailed out just over 10 years ago)

Welcome to the addictively dangerous world of hammocking, Ian.
Careful of that D'Tape. Soon enough he'll have you hanging in the middle of winter. He's troublesome like that. ;-)

So, my fellow hiking buddy AND hammock hanger extraordinaire goes by the moniker of Duct Tape... Wonder what he'll think of this craziness. ;)

This night was particularly cold. We'd spent most that day replacing the rotting roofing, including the plywood decking you see here, om the Middle Settlement lean-to, in the Ha Da Ron Da Wilderness...
Welcome to HF from a former FL'ian (escaped in '98!). Used to surf Sebastian Inlet back in the late 70's. Was quiet back then.

You've hiked the AT, with a couple extra challenges thrown in? Your trail name shouldn't be Hiking Bear, it should be something more along the lines of, Doggedly Determined Bear, or Get Out of My Way...
D'Tape,
As requested, here's a jailhouse backer from a winter trip. Nothing better than standing in front of a wall of coals in the "middle of nowhere" Adirondacks.
