I have been working through a similar concept of converting my 5x10 utility trailer to a hammock camping trailer.
Please, please, please...can't I just lay in a freaking hammock with out it being bad for my health....for gods sake people. It's more freaking dangerous driving to the trail head, drinking coffee...
Yes, it is a base camp or car camp tarp over the dining and cooking area. HUGE...ditto on the ropes, I use 50' Bluewater 4 mm to fight the stretch as a ridge line, still find myself tensioning it...
So irresponsible, they are not even using tree hugger straps to protect that window latch...
Water is rising fast. http://waterdata.usgs.gov/al/nwis/uv?site_no=02450250
Mine came in over the weekend while I was hanging in an old Wilderness Logics hammock, my son commandeered the WBBB up at Cheaha. Got back Tuesday, hung it in the yard, all concerns disappeared. Hard...
Ditto...I have the regular WBBB in multi cam, it was a waste of money when I cover it with my UQ. I just ordered the XLC and did not bother with the camo version.
Well I am in line behind you. Struggling with the purchase a bit. I've had a regular WBBB for a couple of years and love it. My wife has now commandeered it and I just ordered the XLC. At 6'0"...
They did, the link you replied to is where you order it. I bought 2 in December and have used them about 6 times. Very pleased with them.
I think the Kickstarter ended last year? May have that...
My fave, has displaced my tadpole and mac cat deluxe. It's just so versatile and not that heavy.
I usually have some sort of schedule, but don't hold on to it too hard. If I find a great camping site earlier that might be where I stop. I usually spend an inordinate amount of time fiddling with...
Have you been to Louisiana?
Ditto, porch mode. If weather is clear, I may go dbl porch mode. Love the air flow and view in the am.
That's called Force 10 wind. It is 2 stages over gale, associated wind damage is structural and uprooted trees. You have bigger concerns if the trees your are hanging from are getting uprooted. In...
I just did both of those over Thanksgiving with my daughter. Backbone is the best trail in LA. You will swear you are in the foothills of the applachians. It is about 45 mins from Kincaid and...
Yes, I have a great down pillow made by fellow HF member John Sawyer. Fleece on on side (winter) and silnylon (summer) on the other. I keep in a peak bag from 2QZQ, stay in hammock.
Hey Jazilla, I think I recommended Kincaid last year, even though I ended up bailing on the trip. I was up there over before Thanksgiving. Found another nice spot close to Kincaid it is Valentine. I...
I normally would not make this kind of post, but I hope to save you from my mistakes. Avoid the Equinox Egret tarps. I bought two of the 12x16 tarps for a front country fly fishing trip. We were...
Ditto, I am back after quite a long repreive. Updating and adding to the gear pile, new needs and just checking out the latest. I never pulled the trigger on cuben. I don't think I will either. Money...
That is a consistent problem for me when required to camp in pay sites, tree availability. I can usually make something work for a single, doubles get complicated. I just spent 5 nights in Kincaid...
Thanks, just pulled the trigger on 2 of those 7 remaining hammock stands!
Absolutely! Down here those blustery fronts come in and get us down to 40* I start thinking about my lonely 20* under quilt! But decide the 50* will be fine if I use a long sleeve tshirt. brrrrrrr!
Ditto.......
You can park next to your campsite. Now with the number of hangers going if you are sharing a spot you may have to unload and park at the trailhead.
I'm this close to blowing off the board and going to hang...I have a meeting in Port Allen that morning, if it cancels...I may just be hanging with you. I have a box of goodies for the table ready to...
I really don't want to hijack this thread but I am crazy curious. What are the restrictions on discharging said firearm? Are they going to tolerate target practice in the woods?
That sir, is why I keep coming back to this forum. Sweet anchor point, it may require longer tree straps, but it sure does look like uneducated park ranger relief to me.
Thanks.
The worst case scenario has happened, I thought I was rolling off but was re-elected to the BOD for yet another term. The installation banquet is Friday night, that's going to knock me out of the...
I'll be darned, I wasn't even aware you could bring a firearm in any national parks besides Alaska.
Is someone carrying a gun?
Would you be able to do a three tripod triangle arrangement and hang three hammocks?
Nah, not tonite anyway...ask me again tomorrow.
Nice, looks like you may have cut a few smaller trees down to serve as porch mode poles. But hey, if you are camping illegally then it's not likely anyone will notice any way right?
I'm all in, say the word I will switch tomorrow, 2", 3" or 4". I'm a rule follower, as long as everyone else follows the rules. Whatever it takes, I'm not going back to the ground. If I have to wrap...
I think there are about 5 dozen varying factors that contribute to overall temp ratings as well as personal preference. What clothes are you willing to sleep in, hat, baclava, socks, down booties,...
What page or post # has the menu or food plan for the hang? Trying to figure how I can help out. I have seen repeated random offers of contributions of food but not sure what is happening when.
I...
Sweet picture, but I would like to know why you did this? Looks like plenty of trees around, not judging, just trying to figure out why?
Hmmm, if the anachronist bails, I am all over some seconds.
Those lanterns almost look candle powered?
Tie a knot 6" from each end of the fabric?
So is this to be a nube only hang? Might want to open that up as to introduce more hangers to the product or maybe you don't...
I just completed a more than satisfactory order from Brian as have several others. Clear communication is the key. He is extremely easy to work with and very accommodating. I love my new ultra.
I...
PayPal sent for #12. Thanks
I will take the WL bug net. #12
Seems like I read somewhere, camp uphill of the trail, human nature is to look downhill.
Gee wiz guys..we're you this paranoid when you were a ground dweller...did you breakdown your tent and pack it away? Have you ever had a tent stolen? I leave a full campsite all the time. Probably...
You ain't getting a nap in that thing. Your legs will fall asleep from the pressure. Reminds me of trying to sleep in the airport. Too small of a space for the purpose.
I have just been very trusting but always leery, but very lucky perhaps. I don't want to hijack the OP's thread, but I would also like to hear how many have actually had something stolen from the...
I don't use a ridge line on my Superfly and I am pretty sure Warbonnet doesn't recommend a ridge line. On my other tarps that I do use a ride line on, it goes above the tarp. The drip lines will work...
Too long of an uncomfortable pause...swank out!
