    The taper should have half the strands removed in intervals. I go 2 strands at a time, about a half inch apart. It creates a much gentler transition that way.

    I've been reading lots here and most folks suggest the suspension hang at a 30 degree angle to horizontal. Check out this thread for a great drawing of a typical setup....
