I have encountered "weenies" of some sort or another is just about every hobby in which I...
Welcome. Waterloo area here. I've camped at Red Rock a couple of times recently. If you are up in this area, let me know.
Do they have an upright vertical model or just the horizontal version?
Why not use the tree and set only one post in the right spot?
Welcome to the fray. I am in the Waterloo area.
I picked up one of these for $1 the other day. When I took it apart, I could stick my finger through the side (tearing the mesh). Are they all this flimsy or did I just pick one a really cheap one?
I use a cheap Walmart tarp and just stake it down under my tarp. I think this helps keep moisture from condensing on the under side of the tarp, plus, it is nice being able to step on something...

A man of many talents. Thanks for sharing them with us.
So a toggle to hold the toggle?
Some pictures would definitely be helpful.

Great info. I no longer have to wonder myself.
I was just going to ask for a picture... lol

I love his enthusiasm. He provides great information and is entertaining to watch.
I would be interested in hearing your results.
Bonus. Always fun to find something useful.
I have a friend that uses these and thinks they are great.
I use a 3mx3m from DD Hammocks. Lots of options for setup and they are great at getting stuff to you right away.

I use a sleeve for my hammock and UQ. I like to have everything enclosed during the day, then when I get back to camp, but slide the sleeve off and you're ready to go.
It also makes it easier to...
I got mine from DD Hammocks and am quite pleased.
When I first heard about under quilts, I tried it out by hanging my woobie under my hammock with paracord. This worked pretty good and made a noticeable difference. I went ahead and got an under...

I would be interested in this as well. I am in NE Iowa.
Finally had the chance to try out my DD Hammocks Underquilt this weekend. It worked perfectly - very easy to hang and made sleeping extremely comfortable.
Have to give another shout out to DD...
Great information. Thanks!
I picked up a couple of 15 foot tow straps, 2" wide, that I use for under $10. I have whoopie slings, but a lot of times I will just start with a loop, then wrap the strap around each tree until I...
I ordered two last Friday. They were delivered yesterday (t0 the US from England). I have not yet had the chance to try it out, but it looks great and exactly what I wanted. Great company!

I'm in if these are still available.
I enjoy the wealth of information shared by others on the site. Almost everyone seems willing to help and does so without attitude.
Count me in.
Anniversary?
I see this on other forums as well. People will sign up, be active for a while, then drift away. Perhaps they have found other interests?
...or maybe they are out there haning??
Shug - I do...
I agree with mike on this. Yes, we don't need "price police", but 2x what they are selling for???
Now back to our regularly scheduled hanging...(hammock hanging, that is).
I used 2x3's for mine as I wanted a bit more support. This worked well.
I also used the angle cuts so I would not need the lashings on the legs.
I also used 1" conduit for the ridge pole - 10...
I do this with my GT SBP. Netting just hangs close to the underside of the hammock.
I hung mine full length under my hammock (paracord on the corners, ran through the biner at the end of my hammock) and this snugged up nicely to the bottom of the hammock. Made a noticeable...

Here is my Turtle Dog Stand.
I used 3x2's, which I found at the local hardware store. I felt these would offer a little more support that 2x2's and they were only about .20 more for the 8 foot...
