Pitch your tarp TIGHT. As tight as you can. I've used the reflective nitize cords before on the tree tie outs of the tarp. worked just fine for me. don't know about the kelty but I crank on the tie...

Be careful up there the amount of snow can be deceiving. on a trip last year...
