I use the zpacks medium roll top dry bag for both my TQ/UQ. Although I have a 40 degree burrow and phoenix both with 2 oz of overfill. I also use a zpacks cuben fiber pack cover.

I consider myself a warm sleeper and I went with the 40° TQ with 2oz of overstuff. I backpack and camp all year and the only time I've had to layer with some extra clothes was when the temps dipped...
I've hung from an eyebolt in the middle of a stud on two walls for the last 4-5 months and haven't had any issues. I've slept so good and am really glad I decided to hang a hammock in my bedroom.
Thanks for the comments guys. She's really excited to get her own hammock.
I cut the material at 11 1/2 foot so when I made the channels it would be right at 11 foot. Them I ran a zip tie through...
Finished my first DIY hammock for my niece. It's made of 1.5 oz rip stop nylon with 7/64th Amstel continuous loops. Her favorite color is purple so that's what I got. And now she has everything...

A little hiking/camping in the Croatan.
Looks good...I may have to break out the ol dremel a little later today.
Welcome to the good life...
Welcome from Eastern NC...I've done some hiking in Uwharrie myself. Very pretty country.
Welcome to the forum.
Welcome brother...Semper Fi!
Down 162 lbs....that definitely deserves a reward! Great job man and welcome!
Welcome from the "right" coast...
Good luck...I hope to get out there soon myself.
That is freakin awesome!!
I'll be doing the same thing shortly..thanks for the inspiration.
Thanks everyone...I was hoping that an extra ounce would allow me to get down to the mid 30's. This has helped a lot.
Welcome to the forums.
Welcome from eastern NC...
Just found this thread and am very intrigued. The ease of setup and takedown is pretty awesome and I really like that you can still have a "porch" in the rain.
I purchased this same hammock and I have to agree it's a nice piece of gear. Good construction and great customer service.
Awesome!! Thanks for the measurements...it'll save me a ton of time making shackles that are either too long or too short.
After 20 years in the Marine Corps, two ruptured disks and a bulging disk, sleeping on the ground hurt. I love backpacking and the great outdoors so much that I wasn't going to just throw in the...
Mouseskowitz, that was a great idea so today I made some soft shackles out of amsteel, which I think I'm going to use to replace the continuous loop that I was using to attach the hammock to the...
Welcome to the forums...
I bought my Lash-it and Amsteel Blue from Redden Marine and it only took 3 days to get it and the price was the best I found. I've been creating continuous loops, whoopies and an adjustable ridge...
Welcome from the coast of NC...I've always wanted to travel up to your neck of the woods.
Awesome, thanks for the replies. Maybe I'll just get the tadpole now and when my gf decides she would like to get more involved in hammock camping I'll "have" to get the big daddy...:D
Do y'all think that you could fit two hammocks under one tadpole? Or would you be brushing against the tarp?
Looking at underquilts and I'd like to keep it nice and light. I'm looking at getting a summer quilt which seem to be rated, on average, around 40*. My question is how many degrees would I gain for...
Yeah I made my own whoopies and replaced the stock suspension. Although I've been thinking of going to a soft shackle/continuous loop so I can take the suspension off quickly.
I'm gonna be swinging by REI tomorrow so I'll check them out too.
Thanks for the info.
I've been trying to decide between the Big Daddy and the tadpole. I just need to decide how much coverage I need/want.
Thanks for all the great advice. I've been replacing my more bulky gear with more lightweight and compact so I think I'll go with the 46.
You should check out a book by Andrew Skurka, The Ultimate Hiker's Gear Guide. He's also got several videos on YouTube.
Welcome from the coast of NC. I've got family in east TN and spend as much time as I can in the smokies. I'm just getting into hammock camping myself and I don't think I'll sleep on the ground, if I...
Welcome from a fellow vet. I'm also planning several long backpacking trips in the near future and personally I am trying to lower my pack weight as much as I can and still be comfortable. I used to...
Welcome to the boards...tons of very helpful people here.
Welcome from out by the coast.
I'm no expert here and haven't had too much exposure to a lot of different hammocks but I recently got an Appalachian hammock and I am more than pleased. I like it better than any of the Eno's I've...
So I'm planing on some week long or longer backpacking trips and am trying to decide which backpack to get. I really like the Osprey Exos series, either the 46 or 58...thoughts?
I actually did a DIY bug net out of some Tulle. I haven't been on the Neusiok trail yet but I've been exploring the Weetock off the 58 in the Croatan, it's a nice trail but it's hard to make a loop...
Yeah I saw a few threads about the poncho liner UQ and I may go that route till fall. Plus I've got an old poncho liner or two laying around the house.
I am pretty stoked...I'm currently turning an old sleeping bag into an under quilt until I can decide which down UQ I'd like to get.
Hey y'all I just wanted to share a pic of the first hang of my new Appalachian Hammock. I use 1" poly tree straps with arrow shaft toggles, 6' DIY whoopie slings attached strait to the hammock (I...
I just wanted to stop in and say hello.
I stumbled upon hammock camping by accident. I was searching youtube and the internet to learn how to make an alcohol stove and by chance I ran across...
