Ok. Where are the trip reports? I need my vicarious hammock fix!
For those of you finding this old thread, I am sad to say that Boggs Mountain Demonstration State Forest is closed until further notice, due to the recent (Sep 2015) wildfire in that area.
Thank you everyone for your kind comments.

Yes, friends....
Thanks, Brucie! I've already put together several-many add water meals in anticipation of more ricks and vegetation in my near future!
I think it is too dry already. There were 2 that I swatted. No one else reported any.
Thanks!
Wow! I've never even hiked that high. Someday ...

Yep. You missed it.
Unless you were one of the 4 wise, timely, intelligent, and stunningly good-looking attendees.
We missed all the rest of you. Sad face.
I (again) didn't take a single...
I should be there around 1pm Friday.
Despite today's wind and rain, the forecast for the weekend looks GREAT! Low 40s to mid 60s.

You are welcome! At least the glasses didn't land in any itchy plants!
You're welcome! I've already transfered the Groundhog stakes to the 'current gear' box!
Naw, I wandered around camp munching Fritos and chatting.
Oregon!! Hrmp. Have fun, we will miss you!
A simple overnight in Lassen National Forest: McClure trail from the High Trestle trailhead, then to the north fork of Antelope Creek. High 70, low 40. 2000 feet above sea level. I did this same trip...
We love to help! Looking forward to meeting you!
At home I tunnel under the covers, with just a carefully placed gap for air.
But hammocking, I just wear a fleece balaclava over my wool watch cap and that satisfies my need for burrowing.
Sounds good, you three. I'm excited!
I use a fabric bucket to carry water back to camp, then pump from it. Also means I can't drop my filter in the river. You could make a bucket out of waterproof fabric, I suppose.
Welcome! And hope to see you at the Biggs hang in April!
Sure. I've done that. Two poncho corners were tied off to the tarp's suspension and the other two to the stakes. Extended the windward side of my tarp just enough to keep the peskiest breezes off
Yes, I realize this is a backpacking thread, but just in case someone does not find the long thread started by Dangler, I'm hosting the SIXTH Nor Cal hang at Boggs Mt State Demonstration Forest near...
For those looking for a non-backpacking hang in northern california, I'm hosting the SIXTH Nor Cal hang at Boggs Mt State Demonstration Forest near Clearlake the 2nd weekend of April. See my sig line...
I've used a JRB Winter tarp (10' by 11') sometimes with a 10ft ridge and sometimes with an 11'. I usually haul it along when I think there will be a lot of pesky wind to block.
I usually wrap URL tags around them, but that's not the way it works now, I guess. It looks like the site automagically turns them to links.
Who Knew?
Thank you for the report. I enjoyed it!
I love my Blackbird hammock also. I keep meaning to add a foot rest to it, but every time I think to put one on, I end up napping instead.
When you were...
The sock is great! I slept out in a friend's backyard a few weekends ago (too many bodies in the house for my introverted self (house party)) and the sock served the additional function of keeping...
I used to have links to my hiking blog, Youtube channel, and more importantly, any upcoming hangs I'm hosting (link to the trip planning thread).

I frequently end up curled up on my side in the very middle of my hammock. Although sometimes I have dreamed of a circular underquilt, my 3/4 underquilt seems to do the trick. I use triangle...
I rely on my Triangle Thingies. I use them with a 3/4 length differentially baffled underquilt that can slide on the shockcord suspension. They really help keep the UQ up on my shoulder. Without...
An extra bit of thin strong line, like what I use for my tarp ridgeline. I have used to to make my tarp ridgeline longer when the only two useful trees were Very large and Very far apart.
I've used...
My shoes go on the ground, with the laces loosened and the tongues pulled out, ready for the midnight shrubbery search (they are easy to slide into set up like that.)
My windshirt, fleece vest,...
The next one is April 2015. Here's the brand new shiny thread!
