I grabbed a hex fly for $62 including tax and shipping. Not too bad.
If you are in Canada, you will pay the tax on top of the item as well.

Welcome, from Simcoe County, ON!
I have hung all over Ontario (Including Provincial Parks). Never had an issue with an officer. In fact in Algonquin the guys who visited our site were pretty intrigued and even got in to check it...
Please enter me too!
I would suggest that you get "real" rappel rings that are forged and not rolled. I wouldn't hang from the SMC ones. They will deform and bend under a load.
Try these ones or something similar:

Welcome to both of you from North of Toronto!
Welcome from North of TO here too!
Welcome, from Southern Ontario!
Ha! That works too. I would disinfect them before packing them with my gear though!
Fair enough, I can understand the weight issue for backpackers. I put a ton of kms on in a canoe, so weight is not my biggest worry. I have even used the straps end to end to line my canoe through...
I see that most people here use 1" or 1-1/2", but I like the wider webbing. Sometimes, as you know, some of the old thick bark around here can be quite coarse so I like the extra holding surface the...
As you are in Ontario, you can also just head to Princess Auto, if you have one in your area. They always have a multitude of strapping (tow straps, come-alongs etc.) I use polyester webbing from...

Thanks for the response. I was thinking that since the bag already had the shape basically right, I could trim down the middle portion to contour on the top edge of the hammock and just shock cord...
Hello,
I have been reading up on everything in this forum and it has been a great resource. I have an idea to make a UQ from a cheap barrel bag that I saw is on sale. Since we are coming up to...
I guess just tying a simple taut line hitch is out? I have always tensioned my tarps this way and never had an issue. The figure nines seem a little expensive for what they are. I put some plastic...
Ha! Thanks!
Just got back from the French River Voyageur Channel on a three day paddle.
Here is my first hang ever just north of the channel.
