Hi everyone - it's been a minute since our last hang, but I recognize several suspects who'er gonna show up.
Room for two more?
Greetings...wish we could hang out with ya'll - another time. We'll be at the Len Foote Hike Inn for a couple of days right after the hang, plan to take a nap in the hammocks. Miss seeing everyone.
We had a good time, glad the raffle was a success.
Look forward to seeing the Detail Man. Still in the bee biz?
Look forward to returning to Hot Springs. We'll see you there!
I'm bein' jealous up in heah, wish I could make it. BF's a sweet spot.
Are any of you going to Hot Springs in September?
Welcome from GA, south of the gnat line.
DeSoto is nice. I'll be at the FLA hang, but will keep an eye out for future GA confabs.
Never too late to sign up, so Joanna and I will see everyone Friday.
I was looking forward to seeing the gang old and new, but it ain't-a gonna happen this time. Hope everyone has a great time.
Bumpety-bump.
Looking forward to seeing all.
My GF and I were in the area a few weeks ago and spent a fantastic Saturday at Grayson Highlands pavilion for the 20th annual flat-top guitar competition they have there - if you like top-shelf...
It's like loaning money - if you take the plunge, do so with the understanding you may never get it back...
It'll be good to be seen :)
Hey mate, what a generous offer. Looks like there's something for everybody. Calendar marked!
Might check WB; it's been discussed there in times past. I spent NYE on Springer several years ago - about 15 souls and some hangers, too.
Can't make it this time old4hats, but I'll see you at...
Welcome from south GA.
Hey, any talk of a hang in GA, NC or SC this winter?
Welcome from south of the gnat line. Passed thru your fair town Sunday (spent long weekend near Unicoi Gap).
Ditto what old4hats said.
I've had one for a year or so. It's best for boiling water only, but it works fast. The titanium is a good bit stiffer than the aluminum I have on my old caldera cone pot kit. If all you want is...
We visited Cumberland Island (GA) this weekend. Didn't spend the night, but did spend the day traipsing around. The campgrounds are full of live oaks that are primo hanging sites, close to the beach...
I was there last week of September, and the grass was about chest-high all the way to the top, but it was great.
I'm up for a winter Foothills hike.
If you go, why not report back about it. I'm too far away but would be interested in what-all's there. Maybe another time.
I received a winter full-length UGQ Zeppelin recently, and my skinny self was toasty at 29* last week (rated to 0*, though). For sure I'm no expert but it's a great piece, and the workmanship looks...
I went about 5 years ago, there were about a dozen people. Marta and her husband were there, and a hammocker, Diamond Digs; can't recall other names. One guy was starting his thru next morning.
Thanks for posting the pics. It was a pleasure hiking with you pros. I hope to return there for another go. AThiker93 picked out perfect hang sites, and one evening he sniffed out a spot that...
Chiming in a little late on this, just to say it was good to see some early arrivals Friday as dakotaross, 93athiker and I stopped by the campsite for a minute as we embarked on a walk along the...
:laugh:Whatever you say, grannypat
No worries, you'll fit right in.
Welcome from south of the gnat line. I'm sure there'll be a hang or two this winter - see ya there!
Has anyone been to BF lately? At the last hang, I think the Burrell's Ford Rd/FS 708 sign was down - the road was unmarked.
..............................
Hope you and your daughter join us; that would make five.
Last year kk4df and I set up down the slope away from the tents at Woods Hole shelter and snoozed right through when a bear paid a...
It was mentioned earlier, but here's a bump - dakotaross and I are hiking the Foothills Trail for a couple of days, so anyone interested in joining, c'mon. dakotaross has the itinerary, so maybe...
Lucked up recently at the Hot Springs raffle and won a Goosefeet down pillow with a stuff pocket to fill out if needed. Super light.
Welcome from south GA.
The sign-up / raffle sheet is now on the 1st post.
Can the spreadsheet be placed where it's easier to find for adding names, items and raffle info? Kinda buried in the thread.
Can't wait for Hot Springs and a break from the heat!
I'm in. Thanks, TATO.
Woof!
.....
Neat - distribution is almost a perfect bell curve.
Not quite where you want to be but fairly close, and you can stretch/shorten the distance - Standing Indian loop? Safe parking, views (Albert Mt tower), plenty of water, lotsa trees!
You gonna let him out so he can come over by the fire?
Similar thing happened to me and my son, PHE (pre-hammock era) in a state park.
A ginormous hornet crawled all over his yellow tent one evening, would not scram, even made his way inside. Maybe...
Thanks to whoever has the right connections and got a full moon for the hang.
floorman, a hike in sounds good.
You're welcome at 411; as of now, 4 people, but one might bring a couple turtle dog stands. I can't remember how many trees but it should be fine.
Me too......
PackBacker drove Pod and me to Max Patch and we left his car there, then the next day Pod drove back and they retrieved it. Plan was to spend the night but we made pretty good time so finished in a...
Welcome from a Jax native (Troop 41).
