I am jealous, and would love to be out there with you! On the other hand, I would rather be here since our first will be born any day now.
Congratulations Mike! My wife and I are expecting our first child around the 28th, so excitement about that sort of thing is well understood in our home.
Alejandro was the name my classmates convinced my high school Spanish teacher to give me for use in class. 10 was the number I wore playing high school soccer. I've been using it as a screen name for...
+1000 :D That is dead on accurate. I think my wife has rolled her eyes at me more often than not lately and she's a hanger too!
I ran 5.3 miles, tutored a fellow student, and am spending the rest of the afternoon working on an assignment while day dreaming of being in my hammock and being jealous of the guy taking his family...
I know it isn't a suggestion about a hanging site (though it could be), but Miguel's Pizza! It can make for a fun little treat on the way in or out!
BTW, my wife and I are jealous!
I like it. I think my wife will too.
I'll gladly win a GT Ultralight. :D
1. So, if I have difficulty getting some by asking at a work site, does anyone know of a place in Atlanta to purchase Tyvek by the yard?
2. The last time (in the Spring) that I get to a Jo-Ann...
Thanks for all the encouragement! I am exhausted after 9 straight hours of class today. It was really fun to read your comments. I'm excited about hanging tonight, but more excited to get back to my...
Well, I am back in after my first overnight. While in the Lexington, KY area for an intensive class at seminary I decided it would be a great time to finally get between two trees for real. My...
Isn't it though!
If the buyer pays the shipping why bother caring about where it is sent?
Hairball,
Thanks for spelling that out for us newbies. I got to poking around Grand Trunk's website to try and figure it out, but they don't seem to have the same model available directly that REI...
My wife posted for me. If that's cool, it is cool. If not, that's fine. It is fun to get involved with this sort of thing. We'll get a copy one way or another at the end of the day.
Here's to you Shug!
The poor graduate student salivates. :)
I'd suggest taking some old t-shirts or sheets or something and practicing on the machine. Try to duplicate folds and hems you will need for a hammock. Every little bit will help.
I'm jealous of those sowing skills! That looks outstanding Jenna!
My wife has just suggested that I need to figure out a way to shorten the length outer cords between the end and the bed portion, and have the lengths get progressively longer toward the center...
Thanks for the reply KerMegan! It does form an M shape. Not by much, but it is an M.
I guess it isn't as easy to see from the second picture but the lay really is like an upside down U. I guess you'll have to take my word on it.
I little bit ago I asked if anyone had removed spreader bars from a Mayan hammock before. http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=36829
Well today I finally got around to it.
Here...
Keep us posted concerning how it works out for you!
I am considering removing the spreader bar from one of our two Mayan hammocks that have spreader bars. Has anyone here removed the spreader bar on a Mayan hammock before? Do you suppose it would be...
Rodwolfy,
Thanks for the thorough explanation. I can understand the concept, but am assuming it is a bit different in a nylon hammock compared to a my hand woven hammock. I have three of the...
Shane, or any other qualified individual out there...
What is this calf ridge business all about? Is there a seam that you are referring to?
Thanks,
a
Mike,
Thanks for the feedback. To answer your questions...
1. Yes, although I don't care to admit to the latter we have friends we really like that won't go any other way.
2. I...
My wife and I live near Vinings, but I am out of town for two more weeks. I would really appreciate the help in making an informed decision.
I've heard excellent things about both of these. Unfortunately, I don't know anyway to try them out before purchase.
For those who have had the pleasure to lie in both what is the tie breaker...
Syb,
Thanks for the welcome. I have enjoyed lurking for a while and even at times find all the information overwhelming. I guess I have to reel in my excitement a bit.
Bill,
I've never...
Thanks for the welcome. With infants I have also wondered about their breathing. That lead me to thinking about a Mayan, but then one has to consider little digits.
Hey there,
As graduate students my wife and I don't find nearly enough time to get out in the woods, but we are attempting to prioritize it. Last fall I decided to lug one of our Mayan hammocks...
