I posted on facebook too, but great design
I think it's so cool that you guys and gals have taken this design idea and modified it and made it better! This community always blows me away!
Wish I would have had that guide..... the camera is just a cheap canon powershot. it was right around $100
Was an amazing amazing time.... the people I met were great, and it was such a...
Finally got around to getting this video up. I make these for myself and it's a benefit if others enjoy them.... with that said, there may be a part or two that are a bit long for you, but remember...
I've started a group on Facebook called Midwest Backpackers. We've got over 300 members now with s good number from MN. We do several trips a year to northern MN. A link to the group is in my...
Welcome! As for good areas around Duluth....hmmmmmm I'll have to think.....KIDDING! If you're in Duluth you're by so many great spots! The SHT starts in Duluth and camping on the trail starts just...
here is one of my older videos where I demo the WBRR on the ground.
The problem I've experienced with different fabrics is how well the side seam is sewn. If it's too far from the edge of the webbing it will try to "twist" and will put a lot more stress on the...
well I'm 6'4 and around 250ish pounds... I LOVE bridge hammocks. The WBRR is a fantastic hammock, and I highly recommend you check them out. If you're anything like me, you probably had issues with...
Thanks for watching... it was a blast and I can't wait to make the actual trip report video!
I think it was oregano....
It seems sort of sudden doesn't it.... but actually I had...
You won't be sorry.....awesome hammock!
My WL OMW with 11' ridge line closes fairly well with it.
Hikingdad here.... changed my name to Big Albino Bear and now finally I've changed it to Bic. So Bic here.... I recently got back from a fun section hike on the AT and it totally...
I'm another huge fan of Marty over at Wilderness Logics! I've purchased 4 tarps from him, and they have all arrived incredibly fast and are great quality. Out of the ones I've used I really love the...
Welcome to the forum! Great place to learn and share! Maybe I'll even see ya around at a group hang sometime!
Im flying down to GA this Friday, the 13 and will be hiking for a week on the AT. The TSA apparently doesn't allow hiking poles on the plane, so I'm looking to borrow some of anyone would be willing!...
nice looking hammock you got there :) Interested in seeing more pics of the Hammecks
I'm only going for a week...not doing the whole thing :) also, I've been married for just shy of 9 years and have 4 kids :P I think you might have me confused with Fronkey
I'm not sure what time I'm going to hit the trail yet.
I figured that it'd be a good time to have thru-hikers to keep me company.... or me keep them company :)
I'm going to be heading south from frozen Minnesota and will be hitting the AT. My plan (which isn't much of one right now) is to start at the beginning and then hike north until the...
ughhh... now you've got me wanting to spend money :P Awesome job, Dutch!
Lol sorry....that just happened. I've had that trail name going on 1.5 years now and finally just decided that it was time to make it official on HF :)
good... because I'm bringing the toaster strudels :)
I'm bringing a big pot for snow... I believe CryOTheWild usually does the same, so feel free to leave it if you want.
I use construction spikes (big long nails) that I can pound in with the back of my axe.
exactly! There is a nice flat spot right by the lake that'd be perfect for the fire.
Yeah we camped there last year, but way up the hill. I would rather hang right by the lake with easy access to water and views.
If you mean last year....My preference would be no. We were pretty far up on the hill and away from the lake. I'd like to stick close to the location on the map I provided in the first post.
I finally got around to publishing my take on the 2015 Frozen Butt Hang. The food gets crazier every year and this year was no exception.... a lot of the attendees left calling this the MN Frozen...
@jpfam I look so sad and lonely in your photo lol! It was great to meet everyone!
Thanks for offering the carpooling... hopefully some people will be able to carpool with you as the parking lot is small and if you don't get a spot there or along the road, it's a bit of a hike from...
looking forward to it.... bringing massive quantities of Toaster Pastries to share :)
doesn't look too bad with the exception of saturday... it could get kinda wet if it gets above freezing. Luckily the lows aren't too high.
May I recommend a good poop hammock :shades:
depends on the time of year for me..... right now I would say that my toilet hammock and pee extender are my favorite things. In the summer my affection transitions over to my bridge hammocks :)
Thanks for watching, and you were right, I did climb the tower again just for you :P
Each year we see people down there with their bows.... I saw bring your bow and get us some venison
post was about carpooling, but it looks like I've filled my vehicle now. Can't wait to see some old faces as well as some new!
Well I finally got around to making and uploading the video from the 4th annual Iowa hang from November 2014. Watch at your own risk... especially the ending
I live in Cambridge, MN and am either going up Thursday night or Friday morning. Anyone interested in carpooling? I'll have a truck and can through a few sleds in the back.
Just so long as we can pulk! :)
Not sure about the posts, but you can find info for trips right here on the forum :) there are also a lot of hangers in the facebook group in my signature if you're into that sort of thing...
I'm not arguing bringing gallons of water for a large group like this if you're not by water. I was simply informing that eating/drinking snow is safe
It does not....its the same as rain water. Just as long as the snow isn't yellow (hopefully we all know what that is) or pink (algae...which you don't really need to worry about in MN) you're good.
Thanks guys, but I'm guessing by where you live that there is no interest from you two? :p
Devils advocate here....snow does not need to be boiled :)
Just thought I'd throw this out there to see if there was any interest.
I live in rural Cambridge, MN along the Rum River and thought about hosting a quick overnighter on my property for people...
HA! awesome sauce! I still want to try this sometime!
I couldn't believe the negativity surrounding this idea until I realized most everyone that thinks it's disgusting or gross lives in the south! No kidding, if my coldest nighttime lows in the winter...
Welcome from another Minnesotan! We've got a lot of hangers and hangs in the area!
Inny in in :) thanks :)
