I appreciate the suggestion but I do not think that would meet the forum guidelines. John
Congradulations on a successful mod. Rip you have recognized the reason the SB was not designed with a non adjustable structural ridge line. Not everyone is the same. Some, if not most prefer a bit...
We still need 4 more people to sign up, so, we are going to leave this offer up a few more days and see what happens. John
I am going to try to make the hang, but it depends on scheduling. If I can make it I will bring an extra hammock for your friend to try. John
Kanguru, The Switchback can easily be used as a bivy. We should be posting some pictures of the bivy set up shortly on our website. Like they say a picture is worth , well you know. As for your...
It is a function of all the things you mention. The switchback is not a square (90 degree) cut hammock. You can of course lay in any position you choose, but the optimal lay for shoulder room would...
Sorry, My Bad!!- John
Sidewinder, The PeaPod weighs approximately 48 oz. and is available with an overstuff option for extreme conditions. If you should consider the PolarPod is more a function of build than height. Give...
Sorry guys, Dale and I have both been spending some family time for the last few days. We will be back in the shop Friday of this week. Thanks for your patience.--John
Miboso, The LHBR is about 45 inches wide to allow it to be tucked around the sides while in the hammock. I will be releasing a new version at Trail Days which will allow the user to customize the...
PLEASE GUYS!!!! Dale is hard enough to work with now, I'll never hear the end of it if you compliment him.-John :D:D:D
We should have the 1.9 in stock and ready to ship by the end of this week. Sorry for the delay, but we make them the old fashion way; one at a time :D-John
Shane, I think you will find the LH a good fit for you. I am 6' 1" and find that it lays a little flatter than the original SB. For those over 6'2", I would recommend the original SB over the LH. --...
The Shamu has a 1.1 ripstop outer cover, the IXuq does not. Yes it will work with the WBBB. Temperature ratings are a very personal thing, but most people are able to get down to the mid thirties...
Ditto on what MacEntyre said, I look forward to your review.--John
Being a bit of a gram weenie myself I understand the importance of weights being posted for our gear. Our tarps have been redesigned to better fit our hammocks and we have a new tarp to fit a light...
Thanks for the suggestion. Our web site is a bit rough around the edges, but it is a work in progress. We hope to improve it as time goes on, but right now our focus is on producing the best hammock...
Speer no tangle will soon be available on the TTTG site. We currently have a good bit in stock but the transition is taking some time. It is still available directly from Ed's site and we will...
I agree with Festus, too many variables, but just as important as your pad is a snack ( I like a candy bar) and a hot drink before bed to fuel the furnace. Have a good trip.--John
Thanks for considering the SB. Our hammock comes sewn for the spreader bars and we encourage people to make their own, but I prefer to set it up in A frame configuration without the spreaders. The...
The following is a quote from Ed's web site:" We are in the process of changing our manufacturing process.
During the transition, certain items may temporarily be out of stock; if so they will be...
Yet another welcome from Carolina:)
You do still have the only prototype of our single layer. We should be ready to offer them on the website in a couple of weeks . Glad you like it-John
This is the third year I have attended and as far as I know, there has never been a negative comment from the Rangers and the locals at the Log Cabin seem to welcome us. It is a really nice area to...
I think you may be right--The low surprised me as well- John
Darby and I will be there with our usual supply of brats and buns. We may hike in a day or two early, depending on the weather. The Grayson Highlands weather site posted a low of -13 degrees and a...
Scotty, I like the smallest fig. 9's for the netting suspension, very light and versatile. -John
I'll let Darby vote for himself but we both plan to be there.--John
Medicineman, Please see this thread http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=12005--John
Miguel, You can use the triangle shock cord set up for the net rigging if you want to vary the length of the spreader bars. We ship the hammock with the shock cord tied to the center loop, but you...
Mac, We have not tried suspending the netting from the tarp but I see no reason why it would not work with a clip or a properly placed sewn in loop.--John
Cannibal, Concerning the spreader bars, Darby prefers the bars, I set up without them for an A-frame configuration which gives even more headroom and allows you to pull your tarp in a bit tighter in...
Dutch, Darrel is right, the tieouts are located 16 in. from the long end( the hammock is not cut rectangularly) on both sides. That positioning maximizes the interior space and gives you more elbow...
Well said, I agree.
Hey Shrek, are Wilmington gals coming this time, they were a hoot?:)
Huh? Did I miss something?
Probably so since you were asleep, but I have a witness (Peter Pan) who also hung next to you at Mt. Rodgers!!! :) Look foward to seeing you...
I am going to try to attend, Darby has said he can get my hoveraround in the car :) and I do not want to miss the sounds Hooch makes in the hammock :D. Seriously, Ed is, in addition to being a great...
Neo, good to see your post-- I thought you had gone under ground :D
" With a waterproof / windproof cover underneath, I think the hammock would be a different beast altogether - Tom must've known this too, or the SS wouldn't be necessary. If a...
No one is a believer in a survival situation if it be real or contrived as this one is.
That may soon change.
Very, very nice quilt!!!
:)I much prefer synthetic over down as long as it is climashield. I use three quilts all climashield made as follows: summer- 1 layer of 5 oz, weight 20 oz.- winter- 2 layers 5 oz., weight 2lbs 4...
You might want to consider a Claytor Jungle Hammock. It comes complete with tarp (you will probably want to replace the suspension straps) for under $150.00 including shipping.
If it does not get the Cannibal stamp of approval, I think I'll pass.
I have been using the Claytor diamond for over 3 years and like them a lot, so much I have two in case the first wears out. That's about 40 to 50 days of trail use and at least that much of yard use...
Has anyone recieved the hammock? What's the deal, are they any good?
Aparently eating too much of the stuff makes one a bit touchy and humorless.
Money well spent :D
