I was just at Costco yesterday, and they had Packable Down Blankets, first I have seen them there.
I believe theyre 60x70, and have 700 fill. $20 each, seemed like a good deal.
What does anyone...

Congrats on the "retirement!!"
Please count me in for the draw! Thx
Size?
I have a Brazilian style hammock for hanging indoors. Seems a lot of people chose these. The cloth is quite comfortable and less chilling than poly. And it looks great.
Perfect excuse for me to bust out the sewing mach..er...Thread Injector and make myself a tarp! I have a custom treeless stand that I made for my ENO DN, and it needs a roof over it! I'm good with...
Count me in as a guinea pig! I'll make a tarp of the teal!
Last trip (Manistee River Trail) we stopped by there and got a Venison, swiss cheese, morel summer sausage. YUM. we ate well on that trip!
Plenty of places in Cadillac.

I highly recommend a stop in Dublin, to stock up on jerky at the Dublin General Store.. Granny's Kitchen is next...
Cats.
My GF's cats moved in just over a month ago. So far, we've recorded 35 mouse kills. There have been mornings that we found 4-6 mice in the drive.
This: Although, it's 8 strand for the 7/64, not 9..

I think I paid about 3.50 for a pair of these on a recent order from STP. They work great! and at that...
You could use these, or similar and then just carry AAA. But, they will get used up faster than ...
Agreed, get a nice hammock and suspension first! You will want that EVERY time that you hammock.. You probably won't always need the net.
If you want a net on the cheap, I have one made of...
I use a prussik on my Atlas straps. works great. I'd be concerned having that binder clip there... about it slipping, and about it eventually cutting or abrading the CF..
Check with dos, he had a pair offered in the PIF
I claimed the silnylon, maybe he'd like to sell them to you?
Looks awesome! I'm pretty bummed right now, we were going to do this loop among other hikes in GSMNP next week. My SO just accepted a job teaching middle school though, so we'll have to put it off...
I don't have any direct advice..yet. But I am considering either getting one of these or DIYing a similar, so I'm interested to see how you work this out.
Maybe post some photos of the setup, and...
It's a PITA, for sure, due to the stuff sack being so narrow and long, shorter and fatter would be much easier. But, it does fit!
Send me one and I'll start working on a cover design for ya! ;)
An adjustable ridgeline is your friend. Also, read a bit more into working with Amsteel.. Many knots that work well in normal lines will slip out with Amsteel. Consider making a 'Whoopie Sling'...
Hard to beat the Woot Yukon hammock w/ bugnet, if it's available.. only $20. Was just up a few weeks ago though, so it might not be for a while..

I did this... and it lasted..until I used it for the 2nd time.
That sucks! What park? I'll have to remember to avoid it or bring cable locks!
There are none left. If you read back a bit, you'll see that he ran out/was shorted, and came up a bit short on the Group Buy order, so no extras for late-comers...
Wow. I knew there were some tight rules on here... but didn't realize it was quite that strict in regards to discussion of things outside the hammock...
Just got my bundle of tape in the mail, thanks for the swap!!
Bruinfan, it's Dura-Line brand Bull-Line WP25.. 7/8" 2500# Tensile Strength polyester
mine was out last week in the backyard (no tree cover over it) when we got 4-6" of rain in 10 hours. The tarp did go slack on one side, because the lawn chair I had looped one of the guylines on...
Packard Plant? Michigan Central Station? Belle Isle? all sound like good places to hang!
What would you be interested in for trade? That's a nice kit you have there, and as much as I'd like to buy it outright, it's not going to happen...
I've used mine a few times, and had no issues getting it back into the stuff sack. I don't put stakes there though, but not due to fit, I'd prefer to keep them separate anyway. I'm sure I could fit...
they attach at the top of the CL's, everything clips onto a biner together. So I will just consider the CL as part of the hammock length then.
Cool, thanks!
So, I'm going to make an adjustable ridgeline of Amsteel for each of my hammocks.
I know the ~83% figure, so I'll probably make it adjustable for 78-88% or so(seem reasonable?).
My question...
I have a DIY one, if you are interested. I actually made a couple for my ENO DN. The first one wasn't big enough for 2 of us to use comfortably, so I made the bigger one. It's just made from...
I shopped around a bit, Dutch was by far the best deal. Granted, that was a bit ago when he had a sale, but still, his shipping prices were far lower than anywhere else. I do have a West Marine...

Excellent. Just, please don't post pics!
I do similar to this, but I use 2 independent links of chain. Works great, and is cheap!
I can get a bit of an angle in the hammock, but it is pretty narrow, so it is more of a straight on lie..
That being said, I sleep extremely well in it, and always have woken up feeling great!
This is how I do it. They are actually under 2 tarps, but thats because they are small, and neither is quite big enough, but with a bigger tarp, one would cover all..

I'm 5'10-11ish. I've been using this on several backpacking trips now and its fine for me.
I have a single layer hammock and use a cheapo CCF foam pad. I trimmed the pad down (traced a mummy shaped ThermaRest pad) and at the head and foot end, cut a 6-8" slit down the center, parallel to...
have a look at the stand I made for a music festival earlier this summer. it would probably work pretty well for you!...
So, I have a set of the Atlas straps, and for the most part, I've been able to use them as normal, i.e. wrap the end with a single loop around the tree and pass the end with many loops thru, and hang...
Is the site restriction perhaps listed from prior experience, that those are the sites that are good for hammocks, and other sites don't have good trees?
Count me in, thx!
perfect! I almost ordered some from you last week, glad I waited a bit!
This is true of the "Garage Sale' items, but not so when it comes to clearance/closeout/special buy items, these are all on the normal return policy.
I'm about to order 100' or so, it seems that Dutch has about the best price, shipped. I could go the WM route, but they're 45 min away, not worth it..
100' shipped comes to just under 25c per...
