Did you use polyester thread?
Plus i've always been under the impression that the hammocks were always more for hiking than car camping. A hammock is a light solution to comfortable sleeping which is perfect for hikers and leave...
I guess what I'm really looking for is the shape of the inner shell. Once I get the inner shell made I can make all other cuts based off it. Is Risk's hammock sock the same shape as the PeaPod?
You could always wire up 4 AA/AAA's in a series for the usb fan. It would slightly increase the output of the fan, and depending on what type of battery you use, would probably increase the fan's run...
Well, the one I have designed is going to be pretty different. I was just looking for the inner shell dimensions as a basis for making my beginning fabric cuts, as I have never seen a PeaPod in real...
Anybody happen to know the dimensions and/or shape of the inner shell of the speer pea pod? Any info would be great. Thanks.
The dye is a silicon base so it naturally repels water once it sets. It repels water quite fine, but you'll lose a little bit of color when you rinse it the first few times. You can also lose a...
I figured I'd also say most JRB's and the Potomac are both specifically designed for the Hennessy Hammocks although they can be used for other systems. I also hear that the Snugfit is a very well...
They're probably only good to around 70 pounds of pressure so I wouldn't trust them except on maybe a gear hammock or a VERY small child's hammock.
Maybe, it helps the matress conform to the curve of the hammock better.
That Lake Moraine is quite awe-inspiring. You just don't see mountains like that around here...

It probably was a very humanized deer then. Usually wild deer hate to be near humans. They'll even avoid the lingering smell of humans who've been in an area recently.
Well the only thing I can think of that would fit that height in that area would either be a young deer or a bear. The deer would never get that close, especially at night, and bears don't stalk. But...
Well, if you could find a green...
I guess it would be a good idea to explain how I applied the leather dye, just to clear up any possilbe questions.
I used the aplicator to sponge the dye onto the fabric. Let it build up and use...
In response to you question Slowhike. The Tyvek had been worn byt crumpling it up and such and had been hand washed in warm to hot water twice. It was enough wearing to make the fabric softer but not...
It shouldn't be that expensive. It usually runs between 2 to 4 dollars a bottle. I happened to have some at home, so I figured I'd give it a try since it was sil based. Here is a link to the stuff I...
Well I figured I'd post some of what's happened so far on the coloring experiments...
We've tried a lot of things with decent succes with some chemicals but a lot of them would be hard to get a hold...
Sorry for the stupid mistake. It seems I confused polyester and polypropylene and had them mixed up in my mind. I went and checked the source I remember looking at last night and it was polypro....
I think you might have misunderstood me. I wasn't stating that nylon webbing didn't stretch, I can vouch for that myself easily, but that it stretches less than comparable polyester webbing. But, I...
It sounds like it would work to me. I definitely reccomend adding a ridgeline. It makes setting it up much faster, easier, and more consistant for a very small weight gain usually. It also allows for...
Gatlinburg is a good area to hike out of if you can live with the traffic.
Hi, I'm a new guy posting here who came over from HikingHQ.net.
I got interested in tyvek material as well as a fellow engineering student I talk to. We did a little experimentation with the Tyvek...
