No we parked at the Cold Mtn Overlook on 176. It was a 10.5 mile hike to where we camped between Black Balsom and Sam Knob.
.....but the important person in that sone is Dr Ralph Stanley.
How far is that from Trey Mtn Wilderness? I was almost struck by lightning there a couple of summers ago. I was in my hammock wondering if lighting was going to arc up and bite me in my butt.:scared:
Wow..... 4 boys!!!!!!:scared:
Hmmmmmgood idea. As I struggle to get off a few extra pounds It may be a bottle of Diet Mtn Dew......
Another funny thing was the guy we saw on friday looked as suprised to see us as we were to...
Flair4040 is also a great outdoor chef. He can come up with some of the best backpacking grub you ever eat......just beware of his "manlyman stew"!
Now that makes sense. The decender rings sound like a great idea. Thanks
I'm having a hard time thinking that whoopies are "absolutely neccessary" on any hammock setup. What makes the ENO different than other rigs that the whoopies are the only way to go?
Thanks for the heads up on the Slap Straps. I set my hammock up fairly tight and then let the straps stretch out. Worked well but I did make one adjustment in the night when nature called. We cut our...
Man you're 40? I would have guessed somewhere in the 65 range.
Rex is one fine hiking dog. He'll swing your hammock when he thinks you're sleeping and then stick his nose in the sleeping bag....
Bringing in the new year in the deep woods of Pisgah.......good times.
My lovely wife got me a new ENO single nest and slapstraps for Christmas. I have a trip planned with Flair4040 for this coming weekend......woohoo.Heading to the Blue Ridge Parkway/Shining Rock...
Wow.. I just googled flair4040 and had some disturbing things come up. I'm not too sure about camping with you guys......
I live in a small place called Bueladean......
Really? That is so nice of you to invite me . Would anyone mind if I let my dog tag along? I don't have a lot of experience in the out of doors but I am really enjoying the learning aspect of it all....
Me too......you do have some nice stuff.
I am really looking forward to taking you up on you offer to ride with me. I'm not real good on hard stuff but I like to try. Are you going to be doing anymore of these trips like in the video?
That would be great if you would do that. How hard is the riding there? I'll need to borrow a bike from a friend. Is there enough trails there to do a 30 mile ride?
I don't know what you do for a living but you must make a bundle, or you have no wife. Is there a club or something that would help a new person not get too lost? Why do you have so many bikes? You...
How is the bike riding where you are? I have been to Tsali and it's pretty good. Is that Dupont forest in that area too? Do you have the same bike gear sickness that you have for camping stuff?
What a gear head.
Same here. I use it for backpacking with a custom made Tree Line tarp and it workd great. I picked up the Hammock for 15 bucks at Diamond Brand Outdoors.....not a bad deal.
