If you get cold, you WILL wake up.
Do we now have to solute twice when we see you?
There are a lot of folks down here in North Carolina that wish your soldiers had felt that way back in 1864. :)
Just when I thought I had everything ....
The Noah's 12 gives you lots of extra shade in the summer...
My first thought was "miniature BDSM gear."
WalMart sells something called the "Long Resistance Tube" in its sporting goods section for around $10. Gotta cut the handles off, though.
+1 Use the email; he'll do you right.
Very helpful video. Thanks. I'm building my list now and it's easily over $100 already.
I think the bug net on my WBBB definitely adds a few degrees of warmth. I notice it mostly during the heat of the summer. It does not stop cold winter breezes.
Last weekend I spent one night in...
The Lowes on the Outer Banks carries both 8 oz. and 10 oz. canvas painters tarps. I made a prototype sock out of the 12' X 12' eight ounce canvas painters tarp (yes, it is heavy ... over four...
There is a time when you could have been shot for that!
I stand corrected. I certainly did not see any alcohol at the hang. Urp!
Hmmmm. Could alcohol have anything to do with it?
Welcome SWP! Great to have you with us.
We had a GREAT time and everybody stayed warm. With no wind and an almost full moon, Saturday night was an absolutely fantastic night to be in the woods. It was beautiful!

Gunner's "official" trip report for the 2015 Frosty Butt is located here [URL="https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php/105361-Frosty-Butt-Hang-2015?p=1402507#post1402507"]
A huge round of thanks to Gunner76 for setting up another successful hang. Gunner, you make it look easy (but we know you put in hours of work behind the scenes). Thank you!
Ah ... Hot Lips, we missed you!
That combination of road kill pigeon, porcupine and possum ("Dutch oven P3") was brilliant! A savory blend of delicate wild flavors. ... almost as good as Hot Lips' cooking.
My friend got a better offer (Utah skiing) and will not be joining us. I still plan to arrive on Thursday.
Really sorry that I'll be missing the Spring Hang this year. I'll be down in Georgia for a family reunion. (yes, I tried to get them up to Merchants Millpond for the hang). I'll be watching this...
I'm working my way back up the coast from Florida. Should be there Thursday afternoon with a pot of pulled pork for one of our meals.
Why is it so cold up there? I got used to 60 degree nights...
So far during my southern trip to the Florida Hang, I've experienced two windy 17 degree nights in St. Marys, Georgia. Then, my thermometer read 24 degrees at Doe Lake in Central Florida at 4:00 AM...
Gunner76 always under-promises and over-delivers. :-)
A wonderful event! Extremely well organized. Many thanks to Gumbo, Timber and the "core group" who all put in many, many hours to make it all look easy. You did a wonderful job.
Thanks also to...
We are going to eat GOOOD!
Polar bear wrastelin'.
Or, maybe I'll bring a gator up from the Florida hang this weekend.
When a person is coming north from the Orlando area, do they also go to Ocala and follow the above directions? Is it easier to catch 19 north to 40?
I always thought Pythagoras was a disease.
No wonder my math teacher didn't like me.
I've had a Kelty Noahs 12 for seven or eight years. It's held up through some pretty severe coastal gales without a leak. My only complaint is the weight.
Here's Accuweather's ( http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/gatesville-nc/27938/january-weather/334838?monyr=1/1/2015 ) long range forecast for the Gatesville area:
Thur. Jan 29: 43*/30*
Fri. Jan 30:...
Good ... looking forward to it!
Some of my favorite Christmas holidays have been spent alone in the wilderness.
Congrats on your new hang!
I fully support every decision you make and think you are doing an outstanding job! :)
My back yard hang ...
I think my butt is sufficient to participate. I'll be there.
TATOgear.com is offering 20% off its entire site. I ordered an Element wood burning stove.
I had that happen up in Quetico one August night when the temp got down to about 30 degrees. It was very humid right next to the water.
My tarp was hung pretty high ... almost two feet above the...
That was my first thought. A dull needle can really mess things up ... and it doesn't take much to dull a needle. :scared:
I use a 12' Noah's Tarp hung diagonally. It provides way more coverage than I need. I've often thought that a 10' tarp, hung diagonally, would be just right.
Are you thinking of something similar to Freezer Flaps? https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php/100325-Introducing-Freezer-Flaps?highlight=freezer+flaps
I'm impressed. I've never attended a hang with an official music play list. Is there a wine list for Sunday morning communion? :)
When I lived in International Falls, minus-18 degrees was considered "light sweater weather." :)
Pulled my winter gear out of the deep closet today. It's been packed away since I moved to North Carolina fifteen years ago.
- Cotton anorak
- Military surplus mitts
- Winter insulated boots
So many hangs, not enough winter.
I'm in. Let it snow!
No snakes or gators in January. :)
No, no, no! I just went long on Kingsford. :)
I can just visualize Shug doing military training videos. His solute? "whoo, Buddy! ... Ah, Sir!"
Thanks for the kayak offer. But, I'm planning on taking several days to slowly work my way down the coast, camping and kayaking along the way. There's lots of nice water between the Outer Banks and...
