I bought this a couple months ago from another forum member. I've probably slept in it 10 nights max and just got back from sleeping in it on a canoe trip to Quetico.

Wow! I can't believe how that pilot dropped that guy in there. Especially with those winds. I was impressed when watching from shugs video, but that perspective bless me away.
CB, glad you are on...
Great folks, great food, great weather! Thanks for making my first hang an awesome experience!
I could come up around the same time and help with setting up. I don't want to be a nuisance though so I can show up later if that's better.
This will be my first hang. Looking forward to it!
I'm off on Friday. What time do the festivities start?
Would the ridgeline seam collect water and leak? I know on my current tarp the ridgeline seam isn't and doesn't need to be sealed. Maybe if it were this idea would work.
Wind shift is something that definitely came to mind. They only diy sewing I've done is on bug nets. I might try to make one though. I'll definitely update if I do.

I like it Paul. And the design I'm thinking of might not really save much more weight. It might even be heavier.
I've been thinking about how to shave weight off a tarp. I've never tried an asym. I'm sure they work with practice but they just don't look like they offer much coverage to me.
Has or does...
I'm a side and stomach sleeper in bed and hate sleeping on my back normally.
In a hammock I sleep on my back and literally won't move all night.
Occasionally I'll just turn about a quarter...
Thanks everyone. That explains some things.
I have a 10 foot tablecloth hammock and sleep great in it. I'm 6 foot 185. For those of you with tablecloth experience, what type and weight material would you compare it to?
My 2 cents...
Backpacking or carcamping? Taking weight out of the equation opens up your options.
Dutch makes a great simple hammock. Haven't had any of the other brands mentioned. I have...

Very familiar with prusiks. Not prisons thankfully!!
Mad I'm gonna have to try moving the suspension inward. I think that will help. I'm familiar with the triangles but not the prisons. What are those?
Thanks for the encouragement gunner!
Thanks for the suggestions!I forgot about the UQ lifting the hammock. Thanks for the reminder.
Hopefully I'll give it another go soon!
The other night I slept out in the back yard and it got down to a low of 36. I kept waking up with cold spots on my back and bottom.
I think part of the problem was that my foot end of the...

I tipped a canoe over a few years ago. Everything that was in roll too dry bags got wet. Everything that was in a trash compactor bag in my pack stayed dry.
I use a small peace of Velcro to tie...
Ok, thanks for the heads up.
For everyone else, it's back on the market. It is an 11 footer.
Sold to squeezible pending funds.
It does have a pad opening and it has the knotty mod on both sides.
Catnapping on a beautiful day by the pond.

Almost brand new Dutch net-less hammock with knotty mod. DL Hexon 1.0. Burnt orange on the inside and charcoal grey on the outside. Double ended stuff sack included. Continuous loops on each end....
I couldn't agree more. Just this week I tried to go back to a pad on a test run for an upcoming trip. Couldn't take it. I'm so much more comfortable and dry in an UQ.
I have a Jar Bridge from...

I decided to use a spare set of straps...
Hoping to make it to this one! I had to miss the hang in MA last weekend.
Wow! Can't believe how many are going out! Hope to get out in the back yard next week for some testing.
Setting up a tent in the rain=no good
Setting up a hammock in the rain under your tarp=might as well not be raining!!
My wife and I use a superfly and no spreader bar. We just sleep with our heads at different ends. Usually works out pretty well.

Really looking forward to this! I haven't been to a "hang" yet. I'm coming, but I'm not sure for how long yet. It may just be for Saturday. Still trying to figure out what I can bring. If anyone...
Just in the basement but it's a start. He was content for a while and he really liked strumming the ridgeline....
Those would do the trick! Another Christmas wish list item.
Took my Jarbridge recently down to 27. Only thing that got cold was my feet. Had on wool socks. Could've used a little thermarest butt pad and I would've been in perfect shape. The Jarbridge did its...
Enter me in the give away. Thank you!
One more thing...bring the micro spikes. The north side of Lafayette is steep and damp. Could be slick that time of year even if there hasn't been snow.
My brother and I did part of this trip two years ago. I second the advice that you won't be able to hang anywhere. The woods in the whites are very thick at higher elevations as mentioned. We hung at...
