Well, I have been experimenting with my new Flex since yesterday, and I have yet to figure out a real flat hang with just myself or with two people involved. That sewed ridge in the middle of the...
Without an underquilt I use mine pretty often. Unless it is actually hot out, I say it is just cozier with it.
Thanks for the photos! So, it looks like you are using "Chain Link" loops on all three attachment points? Then with the Dutch Hooks, they go to Whoopie slings and then what do you use to attach to...
Cool, thanks for the encouragement. I think pvc is actually pretty heavy. I would look into a thinner wall pipe of some sort. An arrow shaft would be excellent, but you would likely need to connect a...
Hi, I just plunked down the cash for a new Flex. I don't expect I will be satisfied with the standard rope setup for long. My other Clark has a set of Amsteel Whoopies and I was thinking I could...
So.. you started a topic on the flex-180 and whoopie slings and then directed us here. Unless I am missing something.. there is no useful information to be found here about the use of whoopie slings...
I am about to buy one new. If I like it, I will be ready to sell my NX250. I suppose there is a small chance I will prefer my old hammock over the Flex.. in which case I can let you know.
I haven't been able to find a used one. There have been a couple on eBay every few months, but I never see them in time to bid. But even then, they well for less than $50 below new price.
Looking for a lightly used Flex-180, ideally in camo. PM me if you have one to sell. I also have a camo NX-150 I might be willing to trade for it.
That's awesome. I had a chance to try the Flex on at the Clark store in SLC and it was great. My only reservation is the massive amount of Velcro underneath didn't seem like a polished insulation...
I have an Argon 85 and can fit the 250 plus Zliner and my down bag in the sleeping bag compartment. You can see my old post about my setup.
So.. if anyone is unhappy with the Flex and wants to trade for my Camo NX-250 with Z-liner, let me know and we might be able to work sth out!
I am leaning toward UGQ for a custom top quilt. Seems economically priced for the best quality.
Oh, I see.
So, eightweight, on the Flex there are no storage pockets on the underside at all? What size UQ did you find to be the best? What fill did you go with? How much did it cost from UGQ?...
oh dang! flex on eBay. I emailed Clark about stopping by in salt lake but never heard back.
you stow your stuff in the pocket and the uq fit over the whole pocket?
I figured it was a long shot.. but maybe it'll happen..
thanks guys, good leads!
i have one full night's experience sleeping with two sardines in a clark nx-250. luckily, the fish are both skinny and one of them is pretty darn short. still, we took hours to sort out our rubiks...
yup. looking for one. preferably the flex. would also consider trading for a camo NX-250.
Recommend a good one? Ideally one that could pack small enough to be a luxury quilt for one, on occasion. I am used to a Marmot Couloir 0deg down bag and don't currently have any kind of TQ, but I am...
I am passing through Salt Lake around Thanksgiving and might just wait to see em in person, assuming Clark has some kind of storefront that is open to the public. My main concern with both the Flex...
any more report backs on the flex? thinking of switching out the nx250 for one..
get a chance to use it? i am trying to decide on a vertex or this flex one for couples nights. i already have an nx250, but i might try selling it for the flex, if it seems good.
well.. still looking if anyone has a decent tarp.
word. i am telling all my hobo tarpologist friends! thanks for the tip.
40L Terracotta is the one I have. Here it is on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Exped-2016-Shbag-8-Shrink-Bag/dp/B0047C8EC8 The smaller yellow one would probably work for a summer setup.
obviously everyone has their own way of doing things, but here are two things i am stoked on that you might find worthwhile--
1) i read an old post with little fanfare from DemostiX that suggested...
hmm.. could be interested. what is the size and shape? if you already have the photos, might as well send em.
i just posted a wtb for a tarp of about this description. if you can get better res photos i would be very interested.
Mamajamba or similar tarp (silnylon, hex cat cut, no smaller than 11'x10', a little larger would be fine, not too concerned about weight) and some skins (mesh or otherwise)! Looking for a compromise...
PMed. if you still have it, let me know.
