2nd half of November / 1st half of December is good... I was thinking about having the Sipsey Hang sometime in the 2nd half of October. I guess I need to post that up, don't I ?
Dang! Too slow typing... enjoy DD!
FWIW, if Scott says it's sharp: it's surgical sharp. I got a Buck knife from him...will not only shave the hair from your arm, but split them too!
I'll take it Scott. PM me your Paypal info.
Welcome to HF. I'm from the B'ham area..now in Gadsden. Like Obmit said: watch the trip planning thread for local hangs.
Welcome, from the other end (almost) of the Pinhoti.

The double ended stuff sack makes a good daypack: just run a webbing sling through it and wear it over your shoulder.
FWIW, I have never gotten wet using a hex tarp....and I have weathered quite a few T-storms. If you're concerned about waste, I'll make you a silnylon hex tarp .(for less than you might...
Welcome, from Gadsen, Al. Can't help with the sleep apnea, but if you have any other questions,
shoot me a a PM.
Hi Fiver! Welcome.
I've tried the narrow hemmers: can't seem to keep our type fabrics in it. Same with the adjustable hemmer. Some of the old Griest rolled hemmers work OK. The best by far, for me has been:...
Don't know about #1
#3: narrow hemmer-turn it over and look at the slot underneath to see the width of the hem it makes.
#4:adjustable width hemmer
#5:adjustable zipper foot
Thanks for the trip report, Ashley. The Skyway is the only trail I haven't completed in the area. (From the campsite at 17.25 in your video to Devil's Den was new to me.) That dinner you had along...
Wow! I don't know where to begin...:boggle: Hotlips and Kingsford have hosted the most awesome hang we have ever been to. Thank you for inviting us, and a special thanks for all you two did. Words...
Wow...I just found out about Buckley. We were on the road almost all day, and didn't know until I climbed in my hammock. Glad to hear he is responding to the antibiotics. Take care and get here when...
They see me hangin'....they hatin'.
I'd love to join y'all too, but we're headed to NC for the Smoke Butt Hang. It's been too long since we were on Yonah!
Don't forget Buckley!
I forgot to mention: The tarp's final weight, with full suspension and Dutch Bling, in it's stuff bag with an accessory bag for stakes, is 19. 0 ounces.
Beautiful! That's the ticket for bridge hammocks.

I made that tarp for a forum member, so I don't have it around to play with. But, like you said: I think I would lower the side panel tie outs a bit. I put them in the flat felled seam for strength,...
Sorry to hear y'all won't be there, but I understand. I've missed a lot of trips myself due to the job.
I'm sure I have an extra you could borrow.
In the future, you could also pre-treat your grosgrain pieces with silicone/MS mix to keep them from wicking.
I made one like that, using the same plans scaled up. Here's what it will look like:
Welcome Johan, from Alabama. Thanks for posting the picture. There is something nice about seeing others around the world doing the same things we are doing here!
Wow! Without a doubt, the largest group hang I've ever attended. As far as parking goes, the boat launch area looks like a good alternative parking spot. Most spaces however, seem to be marked for...
Thanks for that map link: I see now. Looks like about a mile to hike in.
Thanks, but it will be so late I'd hate to bother you. Combining a concert and a hammock hang is a first for us!
Can you tell from this pic, where we will be camped? You said sites 3 and 4,...
Welcome from a Gadsden knucklehead:laugh:!! I grew up not far from Hueytown...in Ensley.
I've been to many shows too, but it's been a long, long time. White carpet ...that long ago.
Are you really going to the Greenville show?
Smoked meats, hammocks and camping...yet another hallowed triumverate! I'd love to hear that story too.
Thank you, Tonya. Where did Kingsford see it? Just curious, I made one (this tarp's twin) for someone back in February. He is in the Winston-Salem area.
I just added my other teenage son to the...
Other than the old Greist guides mentioned by Boston above, the only thing that consistently works for me is this:
I finally finished the raffle tarp: 12' ridgeline winter tarp (Sunkmail's design), in RipstopByTheRoll's olive yellow silnylon with lots of Dutch Bling. :shades:
I think this is it, before BackpackerGuy did the sil treatment. 108378
Happy Mother's Day!
So, you just recently got the trailer and it's already maxed out? I see one of these in your future: 108350
Sorry to hear about your pups passing, Tonya. BeBop will kiss the skin right off your face if you let him!
I hope you can bring him. As long as he and BeBop get along, I wouldn't mind...
Stubby, is that your pup in the avatar? I hope so: we have 3 Bostons. I'll probably be bringing this one...BeBop 108263loves hammocks!
It looks like I will make it after all. We are hoping to be there Wednesday evening through Saturday. I'm still working on the tarp that will be on the raffle table. It's practically done: just...
Roasting a wild pig would be cool. Maybe you could hook us up with a local who could make that happen? Most of us live too far away to get up there frequently.
You're right: we should have done a...
Thanks Dutch. I'm glad she (and you) are enjoying it. Y'all might need to start wearing some eye protection though. Saying it stands out is an understatement. It even casts a pink reflection on the...
No wonder I didn't get an answer to this question:
You realize that's per foot-not per yard, right? At least it's 65' wide, that's a plus.
Great job there for your first tarp! I like the way you did the tie-outs and side pulls too.
I use the same method for my cat-cuts: 6' Swanson ruler from Lowes.
Thanks RATyson, I have two other Bostons as well: Jasmine and Jethro. Looking forward to meeting Mobie someday.
And yes: Thank You Kirk, for the nice video :)
