I gotta work a full day tomorrow. I should get there around 7 pm. or thereabouts.
Looking forward to it. It's been far too long since I've been to a hang.
I'll be there with my DO's and lots of food!
These new dates work for me. I'm in!
I need to bow out on this one. We're having a family gathering that weekend for my Dad and his wife before they head to Florida for the Winter. I updated the spreadsheet accordingly.
Dagnabbit! I got family commitments both days that weekend. I love the Ashby hangs.
Here's my video from last year's hang.
The Seven Sisters is one of my favorite hikes. I'll shoot a vid there one of these days. Got hikes scheduled with my SIL, New England Hiker Girl at Monadnock in NH and Camels Hump in VT
If there's enough interest, I can bring 2 yaks. One for me and another to loan.
Don't worry. I got 3 new DO vids in the pipeline :-))
A day hike in Western Mass.
Maybe we can do an array of them spelling NEHHA?
I just signed up.
Tully Lake is an AWESOME venue! Lots of great hiking and paddling.
I would watch the weather like a hawk and be willing to bail if necessary.
The Franconia Ridge can be particularly dangerous. I attempted to complete my NH 4,000 footers in time for my 50th...
That's a big ol' snapping turtle. You wouldn't want to tickle his nose with your pinky
As promised, here is part 2
This is the NH & ME paddling trip from this past weekend. I had so much material for this one I decided to split it into two parts.
Here is Part 1.
I will publish part 2 next...
I'm sorting through a ton of still photos and raw video. I'll try to upload a video by the end of the week. What a great time!
Those of you who are riding with me Saturday morning (Dennis and John) here is our schedule. My goals is to arrive at the launch in Conway around 9 am. That will allow ample time to load my hatches...
We'll miss you Chaaz!
Does anyone know the driving time between the put-in and take-out? This information is needed to plan our logistics.
Also, I have three large dry bags available for loan....
The boat is yours for the weekend. Please see my reply to your PM for details.
I will meet the group for the 10 am Saturday launch. I just updated the spreadsheet accordingly.
I'm in! Mrs1960HikerDude graciously offered up her kayak as a loaner.
Unbeknownst to me (until I got home) someone put ALL the leftovers from the pot luck into one of my coolers. Mrs1960HikerDude and I don't need to buy groceries for at least a week.
We be eatin' good in the piney woods this weekend,
After carefully considering how much I value each and every one of you, I said to heck with it, I'm giving you all the bird....
NOT THAT "BIRD"!!!:scared:
My boss gave me permission to get out early Friday night. Looks like I'll get there around 5:30 (give or take)
I'll make my pot-luck announcement after I do my grocery shopping tonight.
6 pm Friday may be a little early for some folks to participate in the discussion. I live closer to this hang than anyone. On a good night, I leave my job in Worcester at 5. Then, I'll need to...
I'll be there! Wouldn't miss it
WAPACK TRAIL HIKE
We depart the campsite at 9 a.m. sharp Saturday morning. We will hike a section of the Wapack Trail starting at Windblown Ski Area, south over Barrett Mountain to a magnificent...
Another installment on the New England Outdoor Guide
Here's an awesome hike in the White Mountains of NH. I hit it on a perfect spring day. Check out the views!
A fun hike in Western Mass.
I really think any rule regarding alcohol should be specific to the event. Prohibiting alcohol at the winter hang was absolutely the right call due to the extreme cold conditions. This time, we're...
I'm working on a new project to compile a comprehensive video guide to the best outdoor location in New England. This is the second installment.
I'm in! I Can't pass up an Ashby hang.
What is the alcohol policy for this event? My attendance is not dependent on the answer. However, it is helpful to know ahead of time.
Thanks for the positive feedback.
@12trysomething & Clayfo - I have maps on the companion website neoutdoorguide.com. I've been reluctant to include maps in the videos as most maps are...
I launched a new project to create an online video guide to the New England's outdoor opportunities. The first video went live today. For this one I featured, Mount Watatic a small mountain close to...
Unfortunately, I need to bail on this one. I'm not all that crazy about the weather forecast. I can deal a little snow. But, the possibility of sleet/freezing rain is a deal-breaker...
I have to work Friday. My plan drive up early Saturday and hike in with my pulk. I am warily watching the forecast. If there is any possibility of snow turning to rain or sleet I will bail.
Whenever I need to score a couple grams, I see my man Dutch.
At least the didn't let her have any Reflectanium!
I'm not going to make it to the hang this weekend. I got to attend to some tasks here at home on Saturday. I will try to get out an hike Mt. Watatic on Sunday before the "Big Game"...
I think breaking it down into subforms is a great idea. The trick is to keep the information organized without it becoming too fragmented. 3 or 4 sub categories should be sufficient. I suggest,...
We survived. The log did not. I call that a victory.
