I'm out on this trip. You guys have a great hike. I will get my chance on Thanksgiving weekend.
My family and I will be making a day trip to Yosemite around the 15th of this month (October). Some of us plan on hiking the Four Mile Trail up to Glacier Point and was wondering if the road up to it...
Of course Songbird and I will be there. This time with the boys in tow! This is something that we look forward to every year.
I would also recommend 6x6's at least 10' if not 12' long and bury no less than 3'. My utility company replaced all the power poles on my road and left the old ones laying in the pasture. I snagged a...
A harem of hammocks! You lay with them all but probably have a favorite.
 I laughed way too hard at that!
Welcome to the Forum from the Southwest corner of our beautiful state! Congrats on the OHT thru! I definitely don't get up North near enough
I will be watching this one. I have been trying to knock out the OK sections for two years now.
You won't be disappointed with the Winter Dream!
And "hello" from another Arkie!
Welcome from SW Arkansas! My family is originally from the Marshfield/Niangua area.
Great to see another Arkansawyer on here! Welcome from the southwest corner of our beautiful state!
Welcome to the Forum! Tons of knowledge and good folks here.
Yeah, Paisley 2 with burnt orange would be sweet!
Welcome to the forum from next door in Arkansas. I'm in the southwest corner. Lots of great outdoor opportunities in Eastern Oklahoma/Western Arkansas.
Hopefully these will be a go in time for one to be under the Christmas tree for my wife!
Yeah, that site and Backpacking Arkansas.com that rhjanes mentioned are THE source for info on the ERL.
I have done this loop four times and sections of it more than I could count and it never...
Check out the Winding Stairs area of the Little Missouri Trail. It also happens to be part of the Eagle Rock Loop. It has great campsites and swimming holes. Even some fishing to be had. All the info...
I spit cheesecake all-over my tablet when I read this!!!
If I didn't have Scout-a-rama with my 11 year old this weekend I would be all over this trip!
Sounds like you have a solid plan. There is a campsite right below the trailhead on Blaylock...
I've used deer antler for toggles exclusively for years. They work great. After inserted into the MSH I just give them a tug and they are secure. Never even had a close call.
I'll throw my vote in for UGQ. I've had my Zeppelin 20 with two ounces of overstuff down to twelve degrees with warmth to spare.
ITEM WITHDRAWN
Awesome job! Where did you find the LED strand for the ridgeline?
My advice would be have fun and hope your legs are ready for the ABF section! I have another trip in the works for that weekend but if it falls thru I might be able to meetup with you
The Flight Jacket from UGQ is my favorite. I have a 20* with the sewn insulated footbox.
There is a small parking area just after you cross the bridge on FR 512 where the LMT crosses. It is just outside of Albert Pike which means it gets quite a bit of traffic through the area. I've...
Not sure if you are aware but Albert Pike is closed to overnight parking. I always like to start at the Blaylock TH and go CCW. It splits the mountains on the Athens-Big Fork section so you don't...
I've been fulltime since January of 2012 and have no complaints what so ever. I started because of shoulder problems as the hammock forces me to sleep on my back. I fall asleep instantly instead of...
Have you thought about Shady Lake in the Ouachita NF? They have a nice new access road with only a short stretch that is dirt.
Welcome to the Forum from the southwest corner of our beautiful state!
+1 on Harem. I love each one I have
http://www.duprephotography.com/ERL/index.html is pretty much the definitive site for the ERL. While it is a tough trail it all depends on your fitness level too. if you are in decent shape and dont...
Welcome from Southwest Arkansas!
Welcome from the SouthWestern part of our beautiful state
Welcome from the Southwest corner of our beautiful state.
Happens to me all the time. She will tell me to go out and relax in the hammock then once I'm good and comfortable here she comes!
If it wasn't Easter weekend I would be all over it. The forecast is looking good for Fri-Sun.
Great report Tom! I wanted to make this trip so bad. Glad you guys had agreat trip.
For various reassons we ended up cancelling again on this trip. It seems we are just not meant to hike this section of the OT. :(
We will hopefully get it it rescheduled before it gets too hot and...
Sounds like yall have a fine trip in the works!
I made a sewn PLUQ with two and a half layers of Insultex. It worked great down to 27*. I forget exactly how much it cost to put together, maybe 40-50 bucks.
Arrowhead Equipment offers the...
Og, according to OuachitaMaps.com there looks to be a decent campsite with water at the 7.3 mile mark. Deadman's Gap is at 7.9. It may be a good option for Friday night.
I will be there Friday night to start Saturday morning, probably at Deadman's Gap.
My DIY 11'er I named " the Hunter". It is a 1.7 woodland camo and I was listening heavily to Mastodon's album of the same name at the time I made it. Seemed appropriate.
I would park at the Flatside Pinnacle parking area on FR. 94 and hike the Ouachita Trail down to Crystal Prong and stay the night there for an out and back. Or if yall are in two vehicles shuttle...
I second the sawtooth oaks. Sturdy trees and they grow quickly. Sweetgums will drop gumballs but the sawtooths produce large amounts of LARGE acorns. The upside is those acorns attract tons of...
Parenting done right!! Both my boys love hammocks.
I wouldn't trade my Zeppelin for the world! While I haven't had hands-on experience with HG, I feel the suspension on my UGQ is idiotproof. It goes back and forth from my Clark to an ENO and...
The Great Blizzard has brought us almost 5" of snow here in Southwest Arkansas. If I weren't getting over a bad chest cold I would be out hangin' in it too. Glad you got to.
Another "welcome" from the southwest corner of our beautiful state.
