Nice video Jaxx. Makes me wish it wasn't snowing and blowing!
Thanks Donna for all the help you gave me with my UQP order. Great service and a USPS miracle worker too! I really appreciate it.
That middle picture is exactly why me and Dale never came back from Cabelas.
No can do. I'm working on the 21st and can't get out of it.
Sorry to hear that Hangin'Yankee. He was fun to be around last year.
Me and Dale will be there sometime after lunch on Friday. Save us a couple of good spots! ;)
You ought to be toasty warm going commando in that rig.
Here's what I took to last year's hang.

I'm just starting to plan a Wild hockey weekend in Minneapolis. If that falls through, I couldn't think of anything better than hiking and hanging.
I'm good with BYODM, and I'll use the outhouse. :)
@Traverson - Nothing that technical. We had the compass out for a few minutes is all, and we were working off of the standard map. It was really a matter of me feeling like the map was showing one...
Yeah, I was wondering about the whole galvanized thing. How would a person burn off the galvanizing? I could get a fire good and hot and throw it in.
How about this 20gal. model? I can go pick it up tomorrow, if you like it.
I think John Schultz and Browns Hollow sounds like a good plan. Me and Dale will also be at the park by mid-afternoon on Friday. Is anyone planning to spend an extra day at the park? I'm considering...
I'd be all over a northern IL hang. I've been planning on a visit to the Sand Ridge back country sites sometime this Fall. No idea when yet.
That's a bummer Shug. I just finalized my Fri and Sat off at work and was looking forward to hanging out around the fire with you again.
I'm still working on getting that Sat. off at work. I'm so looking forward to that weekend and seeing everyone we met last year and all of the new faces.
Hangin'Yankee, me and Dale left the park...
Welcome to the group! I was going to ask how you couldn't enjoy the outdoors in TN, and then I saw you used to live in west TN. I hope you like cold weather and ice fishing.
We didn't get over to Brown's Hollow last year. Sounds interesting.
I'm bound and determined to reschedule my work weekend. Me and my buddy, Dale, will be there on Fri unless it comes down to losing my job. I might try to get Dale to do Thursday too.
I thought...
I'd bring a box of Idahoan potatoes and a tub of margarine, or were you thinking of something more like peeling and mashing?
Todd
I'd definitely like to make my 2nd IA Fall Hang. My best weekend of the two is 1-3 as I have to work on the 16th. Make it whichever weekend is best for everybody, and I'll try to switch my work...
I'm right smack dab in the middle of the big bracket. Don't know what that means, but I'm **** glad I have a hammock to plan my trips around. It's funny how I contemplate my little vacations and...
Those are some beautiful pictures. Much better than the muddy rivers we have around here!
The flies look hummingbirds!
I use the WL with my eno DN
I use the WL Y-shaped stakes.
I just used them in the Grand Canyon. The ground was like cement, and I used a large rock to drive them in. I bent the top on a couple of stakes a bit, but they...
Love it! I was reading and looking at the pictures and thinking about my trip a couple weeks ago. It's an awesome place and I'd love to hang there the next time I go.
Was the fresh water running...
I really like my WL bug net. It's easy to get in and hangs low enough that I can just drop my book over the side when I get tired without hurting the net.
I haven't used it in the rain, so I'm...
I also struggle to justify a top quilt. I wouldn't take my hammock out without my Incubator under quilt, but I'm perfectly happy and extremely cozy in my 20* rectangular down bag. I have no problems...
Looks like you had a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing. CryOTheWild got himself a nice pike, one of my favorite fish for catching or eating.
I don't know how many times I've thought that forums need a "Like" button!
I'm soloing the corridor trails in the Grand Canyon in Feb., and I'm planning to spend about a week hiking in the Shawnee forest in southern Illinois sometime in the spring or fall.
Here's my pack list for the Iowa hang in Nov.
Welcome to the group from just east of you.
Me and Dale are heading that way early Friday. We're going to Prairie Du Chien for lunch and Cabelas, and then heading to the park.
Count me in. Thanks.
I believe Fronkey was hit by a tree just hiking on the SHT, and Shug and a buddy had a run in with a tree at a SHT campsite.
It does happen. Pay attention out there.
As I said early on, I'll leave the final decision on campsites to you guys with experience. With that said, it sounds like you guys are on the right track with Schultz/Heffern.
Me and my buddy...
The date is set for Nov. 9, 10, & 11.
I love my Superfly. Had it rigged in porch mode in the BWCA last month, so I could look out at the lake. There's no better way to wake up than looking at a...
Welcome to hammock forums! Looking forward to meeting you.
I have a buddy that says he's going to come along. We've never been to the park before, so we'll let you Yellow River veterans have all the say on where we're sleeping.
What can we expect for...
20 degree Incubator
I've had it in the 20s on several occasions and never felt the slightest chill.
Here's my schedule for late Oct. and Nov. What works for you guys?
Oct. 20 - Maybe, I'm scheduled to work
Oct. 27 - Yes
Nov. 3 - No way
Nov. 10 - Yes
Nov. 17 - Maybe, I'm scheduled to work...
Google says it's three hours from home to the park. I'll be there if the timing works out.
Looks like everyone had a good time. I wished I could go as my inlaws used to live in Robbinsville, but it was my annual crappie weekend in KY. There's lots to like about that area. Maybe next time...
Welcome to the forum!
I'm looking forward to doing my first HF hang. It's a bit of a haul, but I'd make the trip if the timing works out.
+1 This is what I'd do in your situation.
Thanks for the advice. Nice list!
Arson,
Thank you for telling your story. I live very close to the Mississippi River. Sometime in January, I was talking to a guy at work about kayaking. We've had an extremely mild winter, and he...
