SOLD Eagles Nest Outfitters (ENO) Double Nest Hammock with SlapStraps Pro, complete setup ready to hang. My first hammock, hung maybe 5 times total in the yard, until I invested in a WB Blackbird,...
Good turnaround time for me- I ordered mine on Monday, Shipped today (Friday)!
I have noticed that using the double layer makes a big difference when using a pad in my WBBB. If I tried to lay directly on the pad in a Hennessy, I would sweat a lot, whether it was hot or cold...
Parked at RipRap parking lot off of Skyline Drive, and hiked clockwise around the loop. It is a tough climb out on day 2. You can also park at Wildcat Ridge, that was less crowded.
FOR SALE: Complete Hammock setup.
Hennessy Expedition Asym Classic Bottom Entry. Stuff sack says Asym ZIP, but it is a velcro bottom entry. Includes Jacks-R-Better complete suspension kit...
I never thought of putting pad inside quilt, but that is a good idea. My foot pad always slides around, even inside the double layer
I got a little wet once in my BMJ, but i had not yet seam sealed the pull outs. No problems since then
I have a Phoenix and Incubator, both 20 degree. I like the Phoenix better. If it is really cold, I double them up.
Big Mama Jama and 1.75 zing it!
I also use the small figure 9's and 1.75 zing it. I just wrap 2 or 3 times and also tie it off in a loop for good measure. Never had a problem.
Mountain goat snakeskins and figure 9's did the trick for me. I used to get beat up by my tarp anytime there was any wind at all. Makes the take down and packing up process simple as well.
Thanks for the Google tip! Backpacker magazine just had an article about tree sap removal also.
Superfly or Big Mama Jama!
Bobwhite- Looks nice. Did you tie the door panels together, or use a guy line and stake? Do you think the new Tato connectors work a lot better than prussics?
A pleasant and challenging 9.5 milehike. Combines a short piece of the AT with 2 side trails. Camped at the intersection of RipRap and Wildcat Ridge. Found some good viewpoints and a great swimming...
+2 on this
My son wants to hike the Priest this summer, hope I am up for it
Good to know, thanks for posting
I have always wanted to camp there
The water source at Campbell's Shelter is about 5 minute walk. It is a good camp site, you can watch sunset from the top and walk down to camp.
Maccat standard works well for my WBBB. Takes some practice to get adequate coverage on the ends, but good tarp.
I agree with Thumbs. Underquilts can be hung to vent, allowing use in much higher temps than rating. If it is too hot, just push off to the side. I have a 20, but would buy a 0 if I had it do over...
I use my jacket also, works well for feet
I always use an underquilt. If it is very hot, I just rig it to hang low, or push it off to the side. If it is below 70, I get CBS. Pads make me sweat.
I have a friend who hung his pack from the hammock suspension straps. He left some salmon pouches in the pack, thinking they were sealed and wouldn't present any problem. He woke up in the middle of...
Has happened to me, thanks for posting
Thanks for posting, I am thinking of buying a superfly
Campbell Sheter, about 1 mile past McAfee Knob
Is it possible to use prussiks on yellow zing it (1.75 mm) for a tarp ridge line? If not how do most connect the tarp to the ridge line? The yellow zing-it seems to slick to allow a prussick to...
I need to get up there, thanks for posting
Pads and bubble wrap always result in my back sweating, even in cold temperatures. It is much more expensive, but an underquilt is the way to go. It is easy to vent them in higher temperatures to...
I think sewn is the way to go. I guess snap would be better if you were using in warmer temps.
They are all good. I have a HG Burrow Zero and it is great. Very responsive, good customer service.
I love my HG Burrow Zero degree. I was always getting cold with a sleeping bag. Have used it up to 40 degrees with no overheating. Very light and it vents well.
I ordered a HG Burrow Zero degree, and it is great. Have used it from 10 to 40 degrees, and no issues. Much more comfortable than my sleeping bag.
If you are ever in the Roanoke, VA area, 4.5 mile hike from parking lot to McAfee Knob is well worth the time and effort. View at top is spectacular. Two different AT shelters are nearby. Took my...
I had never had a problem with the slap straps, I only used them for lounging in the back yard. I took them out on an overnight, and found myself about 2" from the ground the next morning.
I wish I could
Thanks for all the help. Will try loosening the shock cord and get me some hooks if that doesn't work
I have been having problems with my HammockGear Phoenix 3/4 underquilt slipping out from underneath my left shoulder. The suspension is tight, and slips to the other side of the hammock. It is an...
