Figuring out what to order!
Any thoughts?
I like the idea of a multi-tool biner but I am wondering if the daisy chain will be twisted / folded within the biner and thus degrade quicker than expected
I like the...
Correct. But he carries 8 different fabric that I do not know. So that would be $56 hehe :-)
From my experience, Hexon and Argon are not anywhere close to the parachute nylon feel.
I was advised that crinkle taffeta comes close. I am not familiar with this fabric and unsure who carries it....
I currently have three hammocks:
- a mainstream relaxation un-named hammock made out of some "parachute fabric" which I presume is some form of nylon
- as well as two backpacking/sleeping hammocks...
A 100 year old tree is a huge tree. This seems strange.
Who are the "one or two of us"?
Are Dutch and RipstopByTheRoll fabrics made in the US?
Will be interesting to see the effect on China-made quilt by EE and Massdrop. Maybe this will bring back...
It seems to me that the Reapers are, for a given temperature, quite heavier than the Habanero. I think the zigzag results in more materials (dividers) and more down to ensure that every corner is...
Curious as to how you think the down in a 60F quilt will insulate you long term with respect to down migration?
I have an EE rated at 40F in 950FP. As much as I love down, for these warmer Summer...
"This is just an argument for argument's sake"
Indeed. I think the OP is looking for either a mechanical, physical or experimental argumentation/substanciation. I am interested as well. I have...
Who sells 2 inch tree huggers? I have not seen them from Dutch lately
And I thought I would replace my Trek Light China-made day backpack with a US cottage-made one.
I 'd rather see them improving and automating their US production process than sending my money...
Those ain't no man in China?
What's up with the socks?
These tarps, as beautiful as they are, may end up being a real eyesore in the woods. Hopefully, people practice LNT and do not camp anywhere close to beautiful points of...
Made in ...
Thanks for your pictures. This is an awesome quilt and it looks so great.
I am curious to understand why you selected the Carolina Reaper design (instead of the Habanero for instance). I have...
In two weeks
Looks great. You opted for 10F straight baffle, right? Did you overfilled it?
Well lucky him then!
I am sure these quilts are worth waiting for but I am a tad disappointed not to have been provided an updated ETA for my quilt. I understand emailing all customers could be...
If interested in quantifiable differences and metrics between various underquilt from different cottage providers, I'd like to point out to this thread:
...
I think the lead-time estimates are not correct then. Wasn't that 12 weeks right after the Black Friday sales? I think we are approaching the 15 or 16 week mark. Did you get an email with an ETA...
"Topless - Keeps fallin down"
Well well well....
Oops looks like I missed this. Had it in my cart this Sunday / Monday morning and thought the promo was good for this week. Too bad!
If you speak about children...
Having attended a top notch US engineering school, I can tell you whose children can actually afford to go to top notch US school. They are not keeping benefits for...
Make sure that the poles can fold in sections that are less than the maximum dimension of a carry-on baggage on airlines i.e. 22 in on AA, UA, and DL. Since there may be no pointy stakes involved in...
Usually this is considered a "Custom made underquilt" and the pricing is very different. Last I checked, a 65'ish 20F Phincubator with less down and less fabric is significantly more than a short...
No offense taken mate
You are right and there is little debate about that.
But, at the same time, if I were given $1 each time someone mentions on these forums that "You cannot go wrong with any of the cottage...
Ah ah I design airplanes :D
Hi All!
I am currently shopping for a 20F underquilt to supplement my 40F underquilt. In order to provide a rational for choosing among the great cottage manufacturers that we have (aren’t we...
Thanks for sharing your experience!
Yep I do use the staggering. However staggering would affect mostly a length problem i.e. not going high enough for the head/shoulder/neck or far enough for the feet/calf I presume. In my case, the...
Wondering when you would realize that you need a wide UQ?
This triggers my curiosity because this week-end I was using (actually pushing) my 40F Phoenix underquilt and realized that:
1) When my...
Awesome. I so wish you had some 950FP...but I also understand why you do not offer it.
:)
Anyone with insights about a UL fabric that I could use to make a pillow / pillowcase?
For stomach-sleepers and side-sleepers with the ear directly on the fabric at night, some fabrics are really...
Can you soak in Permethryn the continuous loops?
Hello there Mr. Down E. Mac Goodness!
Anyway, back to the topic:
Without having to try them one by one, how to find out whether a / what physical properties have fabrics that are noisy when you lay your ear over them? Not easy to...
Yes and no. You can always afford a little bit of luxury even if UL. I am not speaking of a quilt, but merely of a pillow.
Plus, not gonna try down -which would end up with same deficiencies- for my...
Trying to understand what is the source of noise in certain fabric.
I am finished making a DIY pillow using Ion fabric and Climashield and whenever something is brushed on the pillow, it makes...
Wondering if any of you Chameleon owners have tried Dutch double whoopies or double beetle buckle in a dual side by side setup. How was it?
If so, which tarp would you recommend or would be...
You might want a high wing to hang you hammock... Just sayin...
Still trying to simplify things. Fewer parts, less headaches and more aesthetically pleasing:
Tarp Tieout -> Permanent bowline knot of Reflectic -> Reflectic --> HookWorm --> Shockcord permanently...
Looks good. Zing it for the ridgeline. What are you using for the tieouts? Litesmith? If so, are you using any bling?
Are you using litesmith reflx 1.1 with Dutch bling (mosquitoes, fleaz, wasps, worms, ticks and tarantulas :-) )?
I thought the bling was for 1.75 lines?
Someone has to know the answer to this...
Speaking of tensioning a tarp at the four tieout corners, what is the advantage of the Dutch titanium Fleaz / hookworms with a Dring compared to a simple LineLoc? I understand these are nice piece of...
Hi There,
Wondering what is the difference between the Hammock Gear Quest and the Dutchware gear Xenon Hex sold by Dutch.
Looks almost the same to me, even the specs are very close.
What is the...
