Correct peanuts. I was giving simply the area rates. It is up to those deciding to make up their own conclusions.
If you notice on the maps the actual park is considered the safest of areas...

If you travel 75 north west there is red top mountain on lake allatoona. I've camped there a few times to test out new gear but it is a little out of your way if you're heading to hilton head....
There are tons of other places to camp in northern GA if you just want to make a stop at stone mountain. I personally have never camped there due to the previous post.
