Well done sir! Thanks for sharing.
Look'n good URZED. Definitely let us know how the 10" model works out, thanks for sharing.
There does not seem to be a very practical way to install one of these for backpacking, I do use one in the house and in the back yard but ultimately it turns out to be not very trail friendly.
I don't recall the size of the loop exactly but it seems like is was probably around 8" diameter. Long enough to comfortably go thru the hammock and larks head to the ring and not so long that it...
The pearl necklace, I find this very interesting, however there is still nothing except the diameter of the bead, to keep it all from just folding in half at the center. The fabric may have less of...
That's what I need right there!
That's some serious hardware Mouseskowitz but it looks good, the thimbles are a nice touch too.
How's she ride? Did you get any flex or bend in your bar?
Looks good, the all webbing suspension was unexpected, but looks like its working well for you. Well done.
Cool Uno, holes drilled for weigh savings I presume? Have you solved the falling out...
Due to my general laziness I've just copied the following from another thread about the hammock, but here is how I did the MSB on it:
Here's the photo of the rig. The suspension ring has attached...
It's worth a try. The MSB has a tendency to want to go askew so the challenge will be stopping these from sliding. Looking fwd to your results. Thanks for sharing.
Look'n good UnoGear. Always happy to hear a success story. Looking fwd to your report on the other end.
Always good to hear a success story, thanks for sharing.
Thats very cool Paprika.
I like'em both, OG and Detail Man. I'd be a little worried about the chafe with the T fitting but they both look very functional. Oldgringo, does the pvc want to squeeze up toward the buckle when...
So are you sticking the pvc in vertically so the hammock forms around the O.D.?That sounds brilliant. Look fwd to results.
On my latest tablecloth hammock I made a large continuous loop fed it thru the channel and pick up my SRL that comes thru a hole in the middle of the channel. Nothing new I show a similar setup a...
That is pretty flipp'n cool! I like it.
I had often considered an arched tube with a cross bar to keep it from collapsing, imagine a capitol letter D turned 90*, but then you're back to a big carabiner... or at least more than I want to...
The problem with 1/2" amsteel is the bury is gonna be huge. To make a simple dogbone, the shortest possible length it could be is over 44", that assuming only an 1" eye and a two fid bury with the...
Thanks for the pix. I looked at those things all summer, every time I went to Menards and just couldn't part with the 58¢. I mean thats $1.16 for two, who can afford that!?
Really,...
That is pretty dang cool Homemadehiker! I like it.
Thanks for the tip stevebo!
Thats a brilliant idea! Have any pics?
I really don't see the MSB being a problem for the footbox, butI've got no footbox experience either. Give it a try, get in gingerly and stop if it starts to feel over stressed.
I think you're the...
I also don't know if the end channel in warbonnet style hammock is load bearing.
No there doesn't seem to be any additional strain on the hammock. Mine is just sewn with reg. poly thread and the end channel shows no signs of strain.
The difference between this and the trad. is that the srl pulls on the apex of the suspension arc, and also doesn't cause the hammock to bunch in the middle. It still does bunch in the middle but...
Tried a few things today and had some interesting results.
First I melted a small hole in the center of the end channel on the hammock and when the suspension was run thru the channel I larks...
I only switched b/c I misplaced the others. Surprisingly my RL didnt slip on this but if it were anything but a test I'd do something else.
Sweet look'n rig there Rat, and good to see you around again, seems like you were MIA for a while there. Welcome back.
I know what you mean, I spend entirely too much time and money on my hammock addiction. Yep, those are elephant trunks, very nice pieces of gear. You gotta get some ;):D
Those were valid questions, it is after all, literally your butt on the line here.
Lately I've been playing with this. I would prefer a wood spreader bar but this was quicker and already lying around.
I just took one line and put two fixed eyes in the ends then took two separate...
I have experienced no tippiness and I've been using 1/2" pvc. The pvc that kinked on me was CPVC and the 1/2" variety of that is a lot smaller than schedule 40 PVC. I also had the cpvc inside the...
Doh! Hope you didnt hit the ground too hard.
Thems some nice proving grounds thats for sure!
Nice work Alrany, thats looking really good. Thats a good idea to start with the fixed eye and go down to the bar from there. Well done.
Very cool Mike.
I concur. :)
This is with 3/4" CPVC it flexes a bit, which is good, but not sure if I like it as well as when the hammock in below the bar... too early to tell.
Here the the hammock hangs on the bar, there are...
Well, today I learned that 1/2" CPVC is not up to the task of supporting my rear end. :D
At one point in my testing IIRC I had a loop larks headed onto the spreader bar, or maybe just a piece of zing-it with an eye in one end that I'd larks head onto the mini-bar. Anyway, with my RL ( a...
Nice work Rockdawg! Thanks for sharing. :thumbup1:
Sorry, I couldn't help myself. :D
Yeah, what he said, and is it gonna blow our mind!? ;)
Thanks hppyfngy, I look fwd to your unveiling from the inventing room.:)
Thats pretty slick RePete, the challenge (for me anyway) is to keep the suspension reasonably short, which is hard to...
Excellent idea. Looking fwd to the pics.
Nice work there OG. I like the hammock on a separate line like that. Looking fwd to future reports.
I was thinking tie a turks head around the bar and then epoxy it in place, that would probably hold and if you use clear epoxy it will look good too.
