I work at REI and I get 3 months a year off to get outdoors...they let me keep my insurance during that time. My girlfriend is a software developer and has worked at the same company for 18 years so...
I gotta say the northern end of the Long Trail was some of the hardest hiking we have done in a while. The miles DID NOT come easy. Next summer we're doing the JMT... pretty excited [emoji16][emoji16]
The last video just went up...9 in all. They were fun to make [emoji16]
We are posting a series of videos from our Long Trail thru hike this fall. We started in Canada and hiked 273 miles south to the Massachusetts Border. The videos are mostly walking and scenery shots...

Wow she replied before I could get my post up....
Crazy cat people unite...MtnGoat is sure to chime in on this thread :)
On my Colorado Trail thru hike I used a tent. When I got to camp I wiped down a little and changed into my Capilene 2 bottoms and my Capilene 4 hoody. I hardly ever hike in my Capilene stuff so...
Probably stored in a garage or some place warm and humid. I'd keep an eye on it
I cut a small piece of food grade plastic tubing...Like from a platypus drinking tube. I cut it maybe 1/4 inch thick

Greetings...
MtnGoat and I recently built a hammock and bug net for a friend. She is a relatively small person and is trying to lighten her load. She is coming from an ENO double nest and ENO...

I stretched out the tail end and knotted it to my ridge line to keep it from hanging. After I was sure I liked the length I cut it off
Sport wash is what I use for all of my technical fabrics:

I have one of these available to me. I've slept in a few times and they're REALLY fun. i think of it as a tent, but the way it feels when you lay in it feels like a hammock...more like a bridge...
I'm 5' 7 134 lbs and I can't do anything smaller than 9ft long and 5ft wide

Really pretty country. So many views. It was fun to hike in a new environment
Good luck with your hike. Take lots of pictures. I took a ton and wish i'd taken more. I really began to enjoy shooting video clips during the hike. I wish i'd practiced taking video before I...
25 miles, not 35...apologies. The section was Straight Creek to Taylor Lake in segment 26 and 27.
Also the book said that there were water sources at the end of segment 17 through Cochetopa...
Aww thanks Tacoma. Just keep the book. It's a gift.
The CT was a really nice hike...very different from east coast hiking. Not better... just different. Look forward to seeing you guys again
Depends on the year I think. Our 35 mile stretch did have a small water source in the middle but you couldn't count on it. I don't think it was there a few days before we got there but we met a hiker...
Chapter 8 has some good views... :)
seems like you have the perfect pups to hike the CT. I'll say first that water is a personal thing. I drink A LOT less water than most people when hiking, and my girlfriend uses less water than me....
We hiked with another person a lot that hammocked the whole way (SloBro). it seemed like he was always basing his mileage off of where the trees were. I don't think he had to go to ground a lot (if...
I have made some videos of my thru hike and I am uploading chapters to it over the next week or two. This was my first attempt at documenting a thru hike, so the videos are pretty amateur-ish. I...
Item received. condition was exactly as seller stated and shipped promptly....good purchase
I tested it 3 afternoons in a row. No wind, normal humidity...at 67 degrees I got cold. Every afternoon it was 67 dead on the money :)
I use the ZPacks no tangle stuff. Really nice...
Funds sent
I'll take it :)
Very nice English and welcome from North Carolina :)
The under quilt was a Jarbidge I think
Thanks SloBro! We picked up a few ideas from you while we hiked together on the CT. Goat and I like to go light and be efficient (seems we have that in common with you).
You were moving pretty...
I like multi use items. All my gear is really focused on weight savings without giving up safety or comfort. The bug net is really usable and I think it's one of the lightest I've seen. [emoji2]
I didn't even notice them in the background! I'm so used to hearing them I hardly notice. I do enjoy hearing them though. It's a part of a NC summer...
made a quick video to show the set up...

I stow my hammock and bug net (still attached to the suspension) in my Ridgeline organizer. I detach the Ridgeline organizer and stuff my hammock/net in it. The Ridgeline organizer has a pocket on...
We're headed to the Grayson Highlands hang so you can take a look at it there. We have some simple measurements for it, but i think the measurements would depend on the length of your hammock...
1. We did not hem the open edges but I wanted to. The edges on the .5 nanoseeum rolled up and made it hard to hem. we just left it unhemmed since this was our first attempt at the bug net and we...
Almost certain MtnGoat and I will be at the hang. We will have something to donate to the auction and bring some food too. Looking forward to seeing everybody this year.

Any plans to do pre-made tree straps?
An under quilt was a huge step up in comfort to me...but I did make pads work for probably 6 months before I invested in an under quilt. Pads were comfortable when you got them situated but there was...

Hiked 150 miles of the Colorado trail...some above treeline. Went to ground one time. The only thing I took was a short torso pad that doubled as my hammock footpad and a small piece of plastic...
Small guy...132 lbs and 5 ft 7 inches. I had a custom one made 39 inches wide. Fits me perfectly from should to shoulder...synthetic 30 degree 3/4 and weighs 12 oz
