Thanks for the review and I had planned on purchasing the same quilt for my summer setup. Did yup go with the 700 or 850 wt. down?

Thanks for the review and I had planned on purchasing the same quilt for my summer setup. Did yup go with the 700 or 850 wt. down?
While on the Foothills Trail last week, using the Warbonnet sock, and temps as low as 22 degrees at night, I had no condensation, even with the sock completely closed. I have no way of knowing what...
Update:
Setup in the rain last night and got a good overnight rainfall.
The suspension stretched a bit as I would expect.
The carabiner set up though is less than ideal, so back to hanging the...
Ordered on a Sunday and received on Wednesday! Great service and am getting ready to check it out on a WBBB tonight in the pouring rain. Set up is a breeze, and decreased the time in doing so, and...
Big thumbs up to what Sherpa said. You need to find different trees at variable distances and experiment with height but I'll tell you this, you're straps are way too high and the best sleep I've...
Down booties for really cold conditions.
Check out www.featheredfriends.com and there are a few others who make them as well.
Nunatak comes to mind.
Received my Winter Yeti this week.
What a well made item!
Got it with the reflective liner too, so am awaiting a cold snap to test them out.
I have used the JRB Nest on my BB and just made sure that the quilt was properly attached and adjusted and it worked fine. But I have a Winter Yeti coming soon!
Will the Yeti be featured on the warbonnet website for ordering, once its available?
Just curious, why not a full length winter UQ?
I really like the reflective barrier!
I used the Gossamer pad for the first time last night. Hammock is a BB. Temps in the lower 40's, using also a JRB underquilt and weathershield. Toasty. I notice that the pad definitely creates a...
I use a Granite Gear compression sack for my BB, it works fine.
Could you elaborate on the p gibson top cover?
I did my first hang last night in the BB. Best sleep I've had in a long time! No problems with my knees getting sore, like they did in the HH ULB, and I actually had the BB ridgeline too taunt per...
I like the simplicity of the rope vs strap also. So a slip buntline hitch and off we go! Tonights my first hang in my new BB. (Had a HH which I had been using for the past couple of years which...
Received mine today, had enough time to set it up and do a quick trial stretch out in it. IMPRESSIVE!
I did the Art Loeb from Davidson north last month, and I use hammock also. There was very little water south of Pilot Mtn and that was quite a climb! Phone coverage was ok, using Verizon also,...
I just ordered a BB with line/staps and a 1.1 DL.
Almost always solo, in that the wife would rather not go, and hasn't in about 10 years, and thats fine, time away from each other is better time when spent together.
According to those at Trail Days, Hennessy introduced a new model hammock but has yet to offer it to the general hammocking community. Has anyone heard anything as of yet? I emailed them a couple...
Kayak: that's impressive, down to 0 that is. What did you have for overquilt, pad, etc etc that enabled you to go to 0?
Did Hennessy hint as to when production will begin on the new hammock and tarp?
Actually I like the bottom entry, but would like to try the top entry.
Also, you may be getting condensation up into the quilt (by not allowing damp clothes to dry BEFORE you get under the quilt) as has happened to me on several occassions, then it gets cold real quick.
JRB Nest. They now have a winter version also.
I have a HH and I tried their supershelter with pad. I replaced that with just using the JRB nest underquilt with their outer weathershield. Much more warmth and comfort, with no condensation.
Have the SS and gave up on it, not very effective and caused condensation. Go with an underquilt. I use the JRB nest and the JRB weather shield.
I really like the skins approach. Using the #4's I'm able to get the overcover, the undercover (minus the HH pad) and the new JRB WS2 all in one neat package. Really simplifies packing and...
Without an underquilt, and I have the JRB nest, you won't be warm below 50 degrees. Pads are bulky, a quality top quilt and underquilt will pack easily. I just added the JRB WS2 and what a...
My two JRB quilts (ORM and Nest), stuffed together into a compressible stuff sack, takes up no more room than most of my sleeping bags. My HH goes into snakeskins, then at the top of my ULA...
Motorcycle tent camper here for the past 30 years or so.
Switched to hammock hanging this past year, so will be trying it next solo bike ride I do.
I thoroughly enjoy it, lots of practical information.
I have the same tarp and really like it too, and relatively lightweight considering the square footage of coverage. I have a silnylon stuff sack it goes into, wet more often than not, and then I...
Tom at HH should be willing to swap out the larger hammock for the smaller one. I have the larger tarp and its a BIG improvement.
I took the quilt plunge early on when I found I didn't like using a sleeping bag in the traditional manner, was difficult getting in and out of, and since JRB was having a sale on their 4 season...
Not to cause any confusion but HH sent me the wrong Hammock when I ordered my ULB. You may want to call them and verify its what in fact you had ordered.
Tree huggers for both the tarp and the Hammock.
Tarp goes up first, comes down last.
The Nest JRB underquilt has matching velcro slit, but I prefer to just move it aside when entering and exiting.
I have a beautiful older Feathered Friends Widgeon but when it came to using it in the hammock I eventually switched to a JRB quilt. The reasons being:
-more difficult to enter and exit to and from...
What is the best material to use for a drip string? I definitely wished I had them on my most recent hiking trip.
ohmgrown: can you offer some side to side comparisons with the HH and the Clark? Thanks.
....can you let us know here when the production run is available here on this web site? IF it is OK to do that, that is. Thanks.
Me need it. :(
I switched from a pad/sleeping bag combo to the JRB quilt system and it made a huge difference. Much, much warmer, easier to use, and no condensation.
When I first received my order for a HH ultralight, it was actually the wrong model that they sent. I contacted them and they sent the right one, and told me just to keep the wrong one! I didn't, I...
Yes using the standard HH rope and a mini tie, but I am waiting to here from Hitchcraft, as I had another question regarding whether I would be better off with the Large tie as it was suggested, by...
So far I've had my Nest with HH into the mid 30's and stayed warm, but I plan on doing a colder nights hang as soon as the weather cooperates, which may be as soon as this weekend. I went the "4...
I received an excellent and thorough response from Hitchcraft. Given his explanation I strongly believe I over tightened the HH rope and that caused the fraying. So just passing on the advice to...
Thanks for the replies, I may contact Hitchcraft as I notice he specifically advertises use with a HH.
So no one has had any problems with this device?
As promised I'm checking back after a re-do of my quilt system. Last night it didn't get nearly as cold as predicted, only into the mid 30's, but by using the Nest on the outside of the SS...
I did a hang last night with my HH and large hex tarp. The winds picked up towards dawn and I, like you, wondered about whether a tarp would last long before tearing at one of the tie outs. So...
