I need some wisdom from the group. I'm doing a DIY open air hammock and want to do something more than a traditional rectangle design. From what I've seen there are a few options that are popular:...
My 20 Operator Top quilt and 30 Carolina Reaper landed. Will post a review as soon as I get them in the field. Thanks George they look and feel great.

Would you mind mentioning when you ordered? Trying to guess if I'll have a new quilt for my next trip or not.
Thank this helps! I'm sewing baffles now
Hey guys I'm in the process of building a DIY underquilt and I can't figure out the best way to attach a baffle on the bottom of the under quilt to block the draft similar to the way local libre does...
When it said "closed for new additions" I thought you were having a baby and came over here to congratulate you.
Anywho congrats on a great year and look forward to what's in store for 2018!
With a March NOBO start I would say use a thermarest ridge rest solite wide and cut it down to 4ft. By that and the pockets you should be plenty warm and could sleep in a shelter as well. For a bag...
Clarks are not ultra light hammocks, they are light weight hammocks, and for nx or tx 150's with weather shield you will be at a higher weight than a comparably priced big agnes or msr tent. Thats...
If you're running a tx 250 with poles the best thing you can do is get a whoopie sling / tree strap suspension, and check out dutchware for some dutch clips. They are easy to make but if you would...
I use 2 continuous loops at the head and foot which connect via camp nano carbiner to an adjustable structural ridge line (UCR). those connect to my tree straps that have UCR's girth hitched to...
Any word on with the titanium Cinch Buckles will be out? Ready to make the jump but want to wait for the lightest option
Customer service is just top notch here. Ordered some dutch buckles, ti clips, and 6 ft webbing for my suspension. Got a call right after I placed the order to confirm what I wanted as the website...
Hey guys,
Clark puts loops on the 4 corners of the hammock, and I was wondering if anyone has used them to install bungie spreaders, similar to the ones warbonnet and hennesy use for their...
I have a medium length xtherm I plan to use with my clark tropical ultra. In order to make it wider, I'm using two sections of a spare zrest with 2 shock cord loops linking them together. I slide...
Came in the mail. The hammock body - no tarp, suspension or anything else, w/o weather shield weighs 1 pound, 6 ounces. That's actually a little less than my DL WBB. This shaves about a pound of...
To those that didn't get one that wanted one, the price is a little higher but still may be worth it

It's my favorite...
Bump on the jacket, if no love it goes to BPL forums
Well, I think I'm going to order one tonight w/o weather shield. I'll do a full review once i get it in and set up.
Ula and clark sold pending funds. Jacket is still up for grabs. Over 3 inches of loft at that weight and price is hard to beat.
Ha sorry, ULA is a medium and Jacket is also a medium, but its a roomy fit designed to go over layers as opposed to going under them.
Also looks like they are giving these a new Tarp with cat cuts and no beak at the end, similar to the ones used for the NX series, just judging from the one picture on the website.
Hey guys,
Switching out some of my gear and the wife says I have too much stuff so hopefully this will help someone out here.
1) 2011 Clark TX-150 with weather shield and whoopie sling suspension...
Called Clark, they stated that the extra length helps out on the comfort factor, the pockets remain at the head end, and that the hammock body weight w/o tarp and suspension was 1 pound 14 ounces. I...
I currently have a tx 150 with w-shield that I'm thinking I would like to replace with this. I dont use the poles anymore as they are a hassle and installed a continuous ridge line instead. Is the...
Clark combined the ultra light and the tropical into one model at $299. Wonder what the differences are
This is perfect, wish it either had a higher rvalue or was lighter but size wise you cant beat it. I'm using a medium Xtherm with two zlite wings shockcorded around, whole thing weighs a hair over...
I have a slightly used mac cat standard that I'll see you for $85, pm me if you're interested
I own both, (well WBB 1.1 double and TX-150). First I would suggest the TX 150 over the NX as it vents better and the pockets are set up to where you can still use them in conjunction with a 3/4...
Hey guys,
I've seen several posts about NX-150's and 250's and thought it would be a good time to talk about my experience with the TX-150 I purchased around August. I bought this hammock as a...
What works well for me is making a tripod out of three sticks by wrapping some cord around about 3/4's of the way up, and hanging my backpack on it. This way it is off the ground, and I can keep it...
I ordered one of these right about the same time you did, but I got one w/o doors or tieouts, weighs in at under 5 ounces! Didn't think the doors added that much. I had a superfly, never liked the...
I just picked up one of these and would like to add that they come with the mad rock ultra light carbiners (nice biners, just slightly more heavy than the camp biners), and they do not come with tree...
If you threw in some down pants and a down hooded jacket you could prob pull b/t 5-10 degrees extra, and assuming a 35 rating which seems consistent from ppl that have had it that cold isnt bad, and...
May want to try a top cover for the bb. I believe KAQ makes one assuming you ate cold on top and not the bottom
check the $100 pertex top quilt thread, thats the best deal I came across
Well I finally did it, I've been on the road the last 4 weeks but I finally cut the back, and hemmed the sides, plus stitched the last 2 inches or so together. I will not be posting pics as I used...
They do have one that breathes (or will have one), see my post in the bottom insulation forum for the link, looks good, weighs 10 ounces
Looks like adventure medical kits has a breathable space blanket coming out. Any thoughts on how this would perform as an underquilt / pad / top cover?
...
I've got an AHE flamethrower that I like and I would also look at the hammock gear phenix
I have the TX and a 54 inch 3/4 underquilt. The quilt fills the gap bt the pockets perfectly like having a full uq for the weight penalty of a 3/4. Plus you can still. Use the pockets
I will as soon as I get to it, been on the road a lot for work. I think rather than bar tack the the bottom I will prob. cut a "V" down the middle and use part of that to patch where the cut stops,...
Got it! Weight is 17 ounces lots of down in the foot the Top area looks like it's good to about 40. Single layer of pertex on the back should be easy to cut into a quilt. I'll post pics after the...
Here's an idea clove hitch the rope around both trees that way the rope is fixed I.e. Each of the two free ends of the rope is secured in a manner where you cound hang off one side without needing...
I'm going to cut the back and make a true top quilt out of it. The temp ratings and specs are not correct on the hoodless version on the website. I know it has 7 ounces of 800 fill which is the same...
I did not get the AR it has a hood that I didnt want. DOG is the outlet for backcountry.com super reputable they also rn steepandcheap and ive ordered way too much stuff from there.
Its great, I've used it on my clark and my BB and does well on both. Haven't had it below 30 yet which is the real test but when it cools down ill put it through its paces
Just ordered the Rab Quantum Top Bag from Dpt of Goods for $103. It has 7 ounces of down weighs either 14 or 16 ounces (conflicting info, I'll post when i get it), uses pertex quantum and 800 fill...
Its super comfy weight is reasonable for what it is, you can really lay back in it, and it sets up well on unstable ground.
Sorry about not PM'ing back, I already have a 1.1 DL, and am trying to reduce some pack weight, and had 3 options,
1) Cuben Fiber Tarp, sell my maccat, saves aprox 5oz, cost $150 net
2) Sell my 1.1...
