Nice HK!
Yeah I had a similar thought, wondering what other gear markets that might make sense for Paul. I am sure he could make some great hammocks, but I bet he would want to bring something...

Nice HK!
Yeah I had a similar thought, wondering what other gear markets that might make sense for Paul. I am sure he could make some great hammocks, but I bet he would want to bring something...
Yay for vintage bags! I just scored an old REI Mt. Mckinley down sleeping bag. It is in excellent shape, so much loft its unreal.....well of course there is 2+ lbs of down in it! I washed it by...
Yeah I have sold a BB and a RR, don't regret it all. I am happier in my DIY 11 footer. Used the money from selling the RR/SpinDrift combo to get a proper UQ. Made all the difference in the world.
I have several 7oz. hammock bodies sitting in my garage, maybe I should Kickstart them?! They just don't seem to wanna stay connected to my trees though.
I think it's ridiculous to market a...
I assume you intend to cut it across the short sides, not length wise? Also, you will have already figured it out by the time you got to it, but you will want to make two rows of stitching and cut...
Just my opinion after cutting up JCP down jackets, and other DIY stuff. It's not easy. I think this project is pretty straightforward but right away I see sizing issues as it looks like that...
Hey all, just wanted to give heads up regarding some fabric I picked up at Walmart recently. It has a really small micro-grid ripstop on it, and the color is dark gray/black, with a shiny side. ...
heck yeah I have been avoiding putting cord locks on my stuff sacks, just tie it off!
Right on J,
was great to have you join. give me a shout via PM and I will get you my email address, would be cool to go out again before you leave.
Haha, yup, thanks G.
I mentioned it before, but I think that hikes like this are really good for you. It's a gear shakedown, but for your body and mind. Take you out of your comfort-zone, and...
Whooo buddy another signature hike.
So I called this trip, and was pretty bummed with the conditions, was hoping for much better. At the very least I expected the park meadows to somewhat...
That's much further North West..... :)
Nice work! I live in Rio Rancho, Albq as well! Hit me up for a hike!
Nice deal!
That's a decent jacket....wish they had it in a Large
Good point....darn cold makes everything work harder!
Hey guys, can I be let back in the tribe? I sold my BB and RR, but I recently ordered the "last (asym) tarp standing" from Brandon's gear storage.
It's been discontinued for a little while now,...
Very cool DIY bridge by the way!
Yeah those curlys are cool! Super light weight and I like the simplicity...
litetrail doesn't have many items, but basically all of them are very choice...
Thanks man, I will keep it in mind....I may have already found something that will work for me.
Edit:
Tarp found, thanks
Edit: Changed my mind
Sweet, you got it! PM incoming
Thanks!

Hey guys I just picked this up today at the REI garage sale. I goofed and only paid attention to the XL tag, not the S inseam.
I am unsure of exact model...I can try to look it up, the REI tag...
I have used a couple types of webbing:
Polypro is too stretchy...don't like.
Hennessy webbing is ridiculously big and heavy...don't like.
Strapworks is nice, but make sure you get the right...
Yeah, exactly Frenchy, it was good to know that I could deal with my feet being cold and wet....Now obviously, if this trip extended to more days and nights, and more hiking I do think that...
New Personal Best low temp hang:
14*F overnight in the Santa Fe National Forest. Humidity was pretty low. Super calm winds. Under tarp with doors configured and dialed in.
Topquilt is Golite...
Yezzir, we did get wet feet....Frenchy was using some new shoes, and the DWR on his shoes did pretty well, but I think on our long hike out, he said they were in fact wet now. The DWR on my runners...
Great video Frenchy!!!! Thanks very much for putting that together.
I have some photos and some one-shot videos to post as well.
So much fun! I would say the only "easy" part of the trip was...
It's a great idea actually. But most UQ protectors ride high, where the top edge of fabric is above the top edge of UQ and providing a little extra wind block for you, the user, inside of the...
Yeah I use a green 12 x 9.5 as well....heavy, but large.
Whooo I love New Mexico!
Look forward to it Frenchy!
Gotcha, that's a lot of layers on top, you probably would've been ok without the last two wally world garments....might also help to not compress the down in that nice Montbell down piece.
Dang, I...
Max distance could be quite a span, but other than tarp concerns, the minimum distance is very crucial...if the trees are too close, you will have a hard time getting a good lay on the RR. Not...
Right on Paul.
Aside from holiday rush, Paul shipped my quilt within 4 days of ordering....this was in November
I think yes, you could get it to your door before your trip.
The UQ can be stuffed either into stuff sack or just bottom of your pack, Mr. Gibson's quilts pack very reasonably for synthetic...in...
Nice to see that you pulled that off without layering extra UQ or TQ. Excellent work!
That UQ is ridiculously huge.....too awesome for words....
bada$$ self feeding fire man! I love a good stack like that....I bet that thing was roaring.
Yeah man, I sold my RR/Spindrift setup to fund a warmer gathered end setup....
I scored a Golite z30 quilt, Evernew 1.5l water bag, Sawyer Mini so far.... :)
Friends, this is a great pack, I have it and it is a joy to have on my back!
Ooohh the mystical bonefire hammock! Sweet....
Fun times!!!
Right on man, yeah these days the only reason I will carry a "heavy" nalgene is in the winter for this reason.
keep on keeping on!
Oh hey Frenchy, watched your video again....did you insulate your hot water bottle with a sock or anything? Yes it would be very hot without some sort of insulation, and adding a sock/mitten around...
Excellent! Will be contacting you soon....
Did you go anywhere special for this trip? Or just near your house?
Yess!!!!
Way to get out there Frenchy!
