I retract my "I'll take it"
I'll take the Ridge Runner!
I bet it is a miniscule difference in weight. I just received my HG standard 40* +2 Burrow w/ sewn footbox. Hooray! Looks and feels very nice.
I ask about the weight difference because i just...
Anyone know how much lighter a sewn footbox is compared to the same quilt with the snaps?
Hey, that's good to know Ping! I will have to get back over to the old country some day and do some more exploring. Danmark is very smart with the bicycle paths and public transportation. You can...
What suspension does it have if any?
The weight 1# 1 oz. is with suspension and stuffsack?
Will a yeti UQ work with this hammock?
Or a HG Incubator?
Thanks
Well, i have a question on the sewn footbox.
Is there any disadvantage to the sewn footbox?
I have a JRB w the velcro ventable footbox and can say i never use it opened up. If it's too hot, i...
Nice! Congratulations.
So 0* for the Arkansas mountains, huh? How cold does it get in Arkansas? I guess w last years temps we could see anything.
Hey, Danmark! My Dad is a Dane and that makes me half Dane.
Where do you go walking and hanging in Danmark? Where are you allowed to make camp?
I have been all over the HG website and could not find any weights or specs. Strange i thought, so i looked here.
Sure enough, specs under the warranty tab on the mobile version, weird.
Not a...
Fall has always been my favorite season. This year it has come on really fast! Maybe fast as ever?
Dry crispy leaves make squirrels sound like, well, something bigger! :scared:  when the...
Sweet! Im thinking of switching to a poncho but wondering if enough protection in the semi cold? Say 35-60* F and raining?
I think the poncho in tarp mode will make a nice beak or wind break. That...
Yeah, i,ll second the unscented as those oils are pure! Peppermint could be a good bear attractant.:scared:
I bring one of those tiny little UL bottles of soap. More than enough...
I use a tiny...
i guess the Underquilt could be full size too.
i'm looking to get some things to add to my old gear so i can bring a pal that doesn't have any gear. That way if someone would like to go i have a setup for 'em! My wife could use it too, if she...

Congratulations! A most comfortable choice indeed.
Will you hang the BB on the bunks or structure where you are staying or are you hauling that stand over? Nice big shelf!
May the BB provide...
Mmmmmm! - camping on the lake....:)
Thanks everyone for your support and suggestions! :)
I went out the other day for a solo overnight and it was great! I'm looking to obviously now plan more in and have my gear and food ready to...
I know it's a stretch but I was thinking of it as a less expensive home - saving one more money and giving "more time in the woods"
Sorry, i'm just excited about it.
thanks for mentioning this. Good to keep it honest.;)
i like the this forum and find it to be quite friendly. We are backpackers after all.
Define small enough? is it possible? I've seen evidence of a maybe 18" diameter tree hit by lightning. The tree (hemlock-a favorite)was in chards down to about my waist level. Big spear like...
yeah - that's what i've been doing on this forum...
The quicklink is just something i have used on another forum and it's nice like an s-biner :D
just asking...
Thank you angrysparrow.
Can i transfer my images from the gallery to my albums and vice versa?
Sorry if this obvious - i'm still learning this stuff.
Can i modify the size of my pics after they are...
say any possibility of getting a quick link to "your posts" and "your threads"
"your profile" is pretty good but still 2 more clicks away...:D
thanks
sorry i wasn't more clear here. I make the mistake of thinking everyone knows about natural building! I have a tendency to type on and on so i may have been trying to keep it brief.
Great! I meant camp out to build yourself a home of natural materials is all. A child is a great response-ability, teacher and friend. I understand you aren't complaining, i'm doing my best to...
Yes, we have down sized quite a bit! We built a ~ 400 sq. ft. home of strawbales, clay, sand and logs. I bet i can still simplify more to get me more time in the woods though!:)
Great links and...
Hey, that's a great slideshow! Beautiful homes. I would encourage anyone to build their own! It's something we have only recently given up to the experts. Building shelter is something that has been...
Awesome! We also do alot of mt.biking and hammocks are perfect match! Good show!
I am fortunate to have found this nice home. Even though it's hard to leave home, it's still nice to get out and...
How about overhead? I know you like camping so how about making it your life for a few years? Have you heard of natural building? A little land, a lot of clay sand straw, some trees and a whole bunch...
++2 :D I love that cuben tarp clarity!
Yeah good luck :)
simplify, and reduce overhead. At least that got me to be my own boss - which has it's pluses and minuses.
some examples, + i'm hanging, - I'm not hiking!
...
yep that's about it too! perhaps not everything NEEDS to get done so long as we're hiking and hanging :D
Ouch! Yet another adventure:rolleyes:
I hear ya, i don't get in to the city/town much either but there is plenty of work here at home, -house build and repair, firewood, bees, garden stuff, chores etc.
When spring gets here - "it's...
Wow! thanks for all the great replies and ideas. The solution may be so simple but i guess that's why I so easily overlooked it. On the end of my nose - sort of speak.
Just plan it and schedule it...
i bet it's pretty tuff... enough to hold up w/ out a continuous RL.
kinda looks like the speer winter tarp! But Cuben...
I love the way you can see the canopy above ya, through the canopy!:D
really nice.
That sucks, sorry to hear of your loss:(
I like the fake lay idea - pretending someone's in the hammock hanging.
hey there all! I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas or tips on how to get in the woods more often. It seems hard to get my budds together anymore.:(
I feel silly asking but life can get...
Yeah, i bet you could get a pad to work well in a hammock though i only tried it once or twice. Use the double layer hammock w/ a suitable pad as you mentioned...
I went straight for the UQ...
any pic's yet?
I'd like to see that GT nano under the edge.
I have an edge in spinn and i like it:) A little crinkly in the beginning but mellows out w/ some use. Nice size.

hi there,
just wondering if donating (besides supporting a great forums) would grant me access to all the old threads that used to be here?
remember the off topic stuff like packs, rain gear,...
say that's a fine place to be - in the woods and care free:)
how do you like that aarn MM 55? is it big enough for most three season?
hey Brian
I look forward to your tests...
I bet the sharpie's probably would be fine as the solvent that carries the ink dries very quickly.
Still, no need to risk a fine tarp.:D
Kirk
I have no experience w/ MLD's stuff, but that tarp is nice - especially now that they have the olive green color.:)
MLD cuben:
11'x8' @ 7.8 oz. green cuben for 300$ very nice tarp
WB Edge...
I've successfully used a little stone (preferably round)
Place the stone at the edge of the tarp and wrap the tarp around the stone just enough to encompass the stone. Now wrap your cord around...
