Thanks for all the advice. I decided to take my sleeping bag just to be on the safe side. I should have just gone with the poncho liner because I was a little too hot most nights. I was fine with...
I'm leaving for a section hike on the AT tomorow and i'm still debating on whether or not to use my 32 degree sleeping bag (which i used last year) or if i should just use my poncho liner as a top...
This thread now makes me want to make a BOB
I dont really see any reason that one should not use a hammock.
i would just carry everything that i need to have so that i can set up without a...
sorry but i meant 7/64
you dont need to throw the idea of using amsteel out completly.
Any rope at all has decreased breaking strength from a knot and 7/32 amsteel is rated to 1600 lbs. so even with half the strenth is...
second dibs if anything happens and the deal doesn't go through
I think i know someone that would be interested
I'm not trying to sound like a smart alec but sin30 equals .5 so the weight is unaffected by a 30 degree angle
i did a weekend long trip on the AT this summer with my Noah's tarp 9 and had a double set up. It was giligan's island style (one hammock set up above the other on the same two trees). This set up...
[QUOTE=southmark;314076]I whipped it and it is doing fine.QUOTE]
I'll try to make it but its good that if it breaks i'll still be able to use the hammock
found it:http://www.hammockforums.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=3011&c=member&imageuser=1336
That's sucks, but at least u were able to fix it. Does the other end still work fine?
I wonder if there's some way to reinforce it
Good to know that it works
what exactly did you use the heat shrink for?
I've been checking out the posts on this site for quite some time(and they are incredibly usefull) but haven't really contributed much at all. After searching for an answer it appears that no one has...
That's awesome, too bad they don't do that any more
Do you mean that you got a free Hennessy Scout hammock?
i use a daisy chain (i think that's what it's called) which is essentially a bunch of slip knots tied into each other, when you need to hang your hammock up, just pull the right end of the rope and...
Ok thanks, i guess that's one place that i can save a tiny bit of weight
Thanks for the pictures Preacha Man, they helped me understand how to do the reinforcements.
Have you had any problems with having bugs come through the slit since there isn't any...
I think i might cut only 1/4 of the way instead of how the HH goes 1/2 way down. Will the slit be a problem if i want to lay on the centerline? If so would it be good for me to make it slightly off...
I'm 6'1 and the singlenest worked great for me when i was on the AT. No problems with constriction but that may be because i'm only 120lbs.
Thanks for the tip and how exactly did you do it?
pics might be helpfull if it's not too much to ask
sorry, but i won't be cutting up my ENO... cause i'd probably mess it up
I prefer to use my frogg togg jacket as a pillow
Here are those pictures
I just recently used the Noah's Tarp 9 on a section hike of the AT.
I set up with someone else so that i tied my hammock as close to the ridgeline as possible, and then he set up right below me....
NE Alabama, and thanks for the welcome
Thanks for all the replies
It looks like i'll just add a zipper where the bugnet attaches for now. Maybe later i'll try to add a bottom entry
I'm in the process of trying to make a more lightweight hammock than my ENO singlenest. I wanted to make the netting sewn onto it all the way, and have a velcro bottom entry like a HH.
Would...
