I saw no real benefit or use for the strap, so it was removed.
I like to hang my Pack... Usually just use a binger to clip it to the tree strap of the hammock.
I thought of that, but the more I thought about it the less I think it will be a problem... It needs testing...(time to go to the woods).
This is what I would try first:
Klauss,
That makes perfect sense.
So on mine I could just cut the back of the shelf with a deep arc to create the two "points" ... that will require a "min." size tree but will reduce the total...
I love this concept! Could you just use a 2nd strap instead of the "spikes"?
So if I am sewing a channel:
Thread Type?
Stitch Type?
I just received (3) TCs to make some hammocks. I was thinking I wanted to sew a channel into the end (like my ENO has) instead of whipping the ends. (Just because I like the look better)...
Is...
NVM I miss read the post
Me too... I used a small drill bit and drilled through my toggle then added a "lanyard" to tie it off to the end of the tree hugger. Now each tree hugger has its own toggle and nothing gets lost.
REI has a great return policy
If you want a tarp for possible winter hang than the 12... Otherwise the 9 is plenty large. I had a post a last year about the actual size of the 9... It is much bigger than 9 point to point. I...

So my order came in... And I am impressed. I have not ordered from companies like this before maybe all these "cottage vendors" have the same quality but this stuff is nice.
The stitching on the...
I will take the Dora TQ...
Depending on the tree type and time of the year... The tree can do most of the work. Also pack covers help... atleast that has worked for me so far...
Yea I think that is my next order of business... Snake Skins for the tarp. Or maybe a new tarp then snake skins?
I have a Noah's 9 and like it... it is an easy one to setup as long as you have the space. If I remember correctly the thing requires like 172+/-" RL in Diamond formation.
Looks like the Tadpole...
Now how do give the ever so slightest suggestion that I want a hammock tarp and then once I get that suggestion thought how do I get the oh and by the way I want THAT...
LOL... What did that **** squirrel think he was just going to cut down the whole tree and make all the nuts fall on the ground?
So the last trip I had I when I got to my site I just strapped my pack to the tree at "working height" (ie about 36"-42" above the ground) and then proceeded to set up camp keeping everything up off...
I am thinking about asking the better half for a tarp for my B-Day... Need something reasonable around C-note give or take.
Some of the thoughts I have had so far are:
AHE Toxaway Lake

I live/work & play here in WNC, I did lots of "ground" camping through my younger years... I heard about Hammocking here and there but never enough, always thought you needed LOTS of expensive stuff...
ENO is made here in WNC... I have yet to head over to their place but I pass by it every couple of weeks.
I have not yet received my order but a nice price for Marlin Spike Hitch Whoopie Sling Kit and then add the Dynaglide Adjustable Ridge Line:

Do you not get "streching" problems when it gets wet?
Some Suspension stuff... I am making my daughter a hammock so I need another set of straps and whoopies and also wanted to replace my Harbor Freight Specials. So I ordered:

At least you buying some quality gear and if the color is a real problem after you get back, I would guess someone will buy it off your hands at a decent price then you can replace with it for...
I made an order yesterday and paid with PayPal... Once I got my email receipt from paypal I noticed the Address was not correct. I shot them a quick email and got a response back quickly noting...

I currently (am still new at all this) do not leave my Tarp attached to its RL... I am...
hang your own hang... Right?
I have been playing around with the tarp set up and decided to use a prusik with a toggle to attach to the tarp seems to work (have not tried it more than the 10mins playing around in the yard...
do you happen to have any kids sized hammocks for sale too?
Side bar/noob aleart:
What is this "Tadpole" everyone is mentioning?
It is on the sound side (not the gulf side)... but St. George Island... I have never camped there but my parents used to rent a house on the island there every fall... Very cool place for "quite".
...
So true... I will just make a couple of the "table cloth" hammocks and not worry about it for many many years to come.
Thank You.
Brown for me too.
I am on a brown, tan, coyote brown kick right now (for the last 4-5 years). Green works great during the late spring through the summer but I brown/tan type colors works year...
Do you remember how wide?
Which tablecloths?
Sounds like I wont have an issue...
Have either of you needed to "seal" the tarp at all? I have been lucky enough not to stuck in any 'real' weather yet and not sure if the tarp is going to leak...
Looks awesome.
I am still a newb myself... My first Hang was about a year ago... Had Nylon straps and I woke up in the middle of night with my butt dragging the floor.
I have a Kelty's Noah 9 and the stuff sack it came with is a little large for it and I was thinking about making my own... But my first question is what is the best way to store it?
Do I fold it...
Oh those look prime for a Forums "group" hang. I so want to hang out there. But does not look like something I will attempt for first camping trip with family.
Which one sales kids hammocks?
Background:
Trying to get the wife and daughter into camping... Wife wants to go to the beach. I thought I might try to get to decent car camp ground at the beach. When I was kid we went to...
I have 3 year old that wants to "hang" with me... I thinking of just making a hammock for her... I would want the hammock to last the next 3-5 years, so what size hammock would you make for the...
Thats what I currently do... But I was thinking there must be a better way.
So I get 2 trees the perfect length apart and oh how nice everything strings up... Expect all the excess line from the whoopies and tarp ridgeline that is now NOT being used because of the nicely...
I have a Kelty Noah's 9... And it works great pitched in a diamond. Pitched in a diamond you get away with a ridgeline and 2 stakes, NO Guylines. It seems all the specs say this thing is 9x9 point...
