I'd take you up on that offer, but I'll be stuck at work in an office with no windows. Maybe next time.
Idaho hangers continue to multiply.... Are we closing in on 10 yet?
Here's a shout out from your Idaho neighbor. Not many of us here in Idaho either, but we're growing. The 3rd Annual Idaho Hang is coming up in Sept. if you interested. :shades:
...
Both pics are awesome. I'd give em' both an A+
Another option for rings is Paul a "AHE". :shades:

Good luck. Should be entertaining...
Welcome from SW Idaho. :shades:
One of my best friends lives in Otis Orchards. Have been there several times and love the area cause it's close to both Spokane and
Coeur d' Alene.
What part of Souther NM are you in? I've spent some time down you way.
Using the knot method, more webbing is required. Although minimal, this also means increased weight. Once you've tied the knot and hung in your hammock, it will be very difficult to untie... (if...
Absolutely agree. Check out as much of the surrounding country as you can. Obviously in Yellowstone, you'll see Elk, Deer, Bears and Bison, but if your lucky you'll see moose, goats and perhaps...
Received my tarp skins the other day and I must say they are exactly what the doctor ordered. Workmanship is very good and the price is very reasonable. Get a set while you still can.
Family and I spent some time in the Arenal area of Costa Rica a few weeks ago. Made sure to wear my new Warbonnet t-shirt.
Where else have Brandon's goods been seen in the world?
Thanks for sharing your story and pics.
There's nothing better than spending time with kids in the piney woods.
Waiting for the weather to improve here in Idaho before my 11yr old...
I think "Rooster" got it right. The seam SHOULD be on the top.
I also have the Hex but don't have the same "wrinkle" problem.
Reading these posts made me realize that if any single group is stimulating the economy, it's gear junkies like myself, on this forum.
Welcome from Idaho.
You live in an awesome area. I lived in Kent and Renton while stationed in the Coast Guard. You'll likely find the forum to be very addictive as I did. I'm constantly checking...
I especially like the way you edit your videos, showing multiple points of view of a single event, such as the water crosssing. It makes for a much more enjoyable and informative trip report. ...
Yea... We grow em' big up here in the NW. ;)
Anybody seen the movie "Money Pit". Not that my hammock is a POS, but I've sunk more $$$ into this addiction, than should be allowed by law.
Is there a doctor on the forum that can help me ??? :crying
In the last 2-wks I've purchased a set of Dutch Tarp Flyz, a new OES MacCat Standard in silnylon, a UQ Protector from 2QZ2, a dozen...
Glad to hear the UQP helped hold in some heat. I just received my UQP today and hope to try it this week.
Very stealthy..... Are you sure you'll be able to find it when you venture into the piney woods?
Dibs... First FS purchase. PM coming.
Neighbors yards, parks, trees at work, etc.. You name it and I've looked for the perfect hangin' spot.
Yep, I think that's the basic idea. If the bag (zipper attached) offers a foot-box that your happy with, then great. If not, you may need to sew the sides together, until the foot-box is created.
...
I think placement of side panel pullouts is a personal choice. Also feel placement may depend on the type of hangin' you'll be doing. Will there be high winds, snow, heavy rain etc..etc..
A good...
Will someone out there please stop Dutch ??? Everytime I think I'm getting my rig just the way I want it, he comes out with something new. Will the madness never end ?!
Shugs videos are very informative, and they always make me smile. The video above is my favorite, especially at the 6:30 mark when he mentions he'd need a huge'r pack.
Welcome from Idaho. Where bout's in the "Land of Enchantment" are you located?
I can understand different folks stash their gear in different places while in camp, but what about when your away from camp... ie: fishing/day hikes etc..
Do you take your hammock/tarp/quilts...
I voted that I'm and "Average Sleeper" but as other has posted, when my wife wants to snuggle up in the middle of the night (cause she's cold)... I can only take it for a short while before I get to...
I beat myself up for nearly a week, deciding if I should pull the trigger and get and OES tarp before they become collectors items. Well, I finally did it and I'm happy bout' it.
I was ready to...
Give it time and yourself some credit. My thread injecting isn't good either, but it gets better with each attempt. Try simple DIY projects like stuff sacks, triangle thingies, ridgeline organizers...
Once you've started hangin', you'll never go back to the ground. Welcome to the madness and good luck. :)
Yup.. Me too.
I was also thinking about using two Tarp Flyz on my ridgeline, and I'm sure the concept would work.
If your using separate lines tied to the peak tieouts, using two Flyz should make positioning...
+1 on that although my 11yr old son thinks Shug is "the coolest" :shades:
I keep collecting parts/pieces and trying my hand at more DIY projects... My wife thinks I'm out of my mind. Each time the...
My best advise is to read as many posts on this forum you can. Using the search functions, you can find answers to nearly any question you can think of, and there are usually multiple solutions...
Paul, I knew it was only a matter of time before you posted the 3rd Annual Idaho hang. As you may recall, I had family issues last year and was unable to attend. Those matters have been resolved, and...
Here in the western U.S, trail names aren't that common (that I'm aware of).
Festus was chosen simply because he was an iconic figure in the old western show "Gun Smoke" which happened to be one...
Hello from SW Idaho. Welcome aboard...
Welcome aboard the CRAZY TRAIN.... More commonly referred to as... "The Forum"
If Paul from "Arrowhead Equipment" hasn't already beaten me to the punch, WELCOME from a fellow hanger' in SW Idaho. (Boise area) :D
First let me agree with Hawk-Eye concerning the great customer service provided by the various cottage industries associated with this site. It's refreshing to see that Hawk-Eye took the time and...
Your a braver man that I am. Haven't tried anything that difficult yet. Need to improve my thread injecting skills before trying a DIY quilt of any kind.
Received my copy today. Great illistrations and contained a ton of useful information. Thought I had most everything figured out, but learned a lot especially concerning site selection. Also thought...
pitch too tight ? Can't imagine falling out if there was enough sag, but anything's possible.
Although I've been trying my hand at hangin' for a little over a year, I'm constantly trying new things and tinkering with my setups. Whenever I can't figure things out, I've found Shug's videos to...
Simply trying new things has kept me going over the last year +. Had no intention on starting this addiction. Bought an ENO-DN just for fun. Thought it would be good when we take the horses camping...
