TZ, I can't really see how the hiking poles are attached in the pics. Maybe a more in depth description or the cup and loop. I do like that idea though.

About finding good trees, what if you were to use two trees and do bunk beds? Maybe putting the tarp on the 10' ridgeline?
Whatever the tarp weighs will technically be carried by two people. A spinn 12x10 from oes weighs 16 oz. which comes to 8 oz a person. 8 oz doesn't sound like a heavy tarp to me.
Im sure the Kelty's a great tarp but im looking for something as light as possible while still providing good coverage. Thats why i chose the spinn material.
So after a little research on the site, I decided that a 10x12 would do. Definately going with spinn, most likely from OES. I also considered a custom 12x12 but not sure if that is overkill. I would...
Mustardman, what does the 12x10 tarp OES made for you weigh and how much was it? Would you say it is sufficient coverage in nasty weather I would encounter on an AT thru hike? And what material was...
I really like the 10.75 oz. weight of the spinn mamajamba. Our plans are to thru hike the AT in 2012 and hanging under one tarp would save the weight.
My girlfriend and I are looking to hang under the same tarp. Does anybody hang 2 hammocks under 1 tarp regularly? I was looking at the big mamajamba, dimensions seem big enough.
