So I finally got my Amsteel in from diygearsupply.com! I ordered the7/6th stuff but I think they have me the 1/8th inch instead. But i was still able to make proper whoopies with it :) I used that...
Good to know. I was planning on talking them on a three nighter I have coming up here in a few weeks. Don't really want to fall on my bum. I think I'll just use them for my tarp and order me some...
Well shoot. Now I'm less excited. I guess it'll make for good guy lines on my tarp.
The catalog said it had a 400 lb. average strength... I figured that'd be enough... I guess I'll try it out in the yard a few nights before the field.
Just wanted to share my excitement! Just upgraded to whoopie slings and tree straps from hooks and paracord. I used some 1.75mm zing-it for the slings and some lashing straps for the straps and I cut...
Brilliant! Nothing better than a cheap easy way to do things. I have to try this now.
So many great ideas! Thanks! Since I haven't used the toggles before how does the mason line work? I assume it's just used to tie the toggle to the strap?
Haha good to know that's what I have laying around here
Haha that should be fun! Thanks for the heads up
Awesome! Thanks I think I have an old arrow shaft laying around. I'll give a couple things a try. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll let you know what works out!
So I'm swapping my suspension out for whoopie slings and tree straps but I can't figure out what I want to use for toggles. I was thinking about using a small piece of copper tubing but would that be...
Yea I might have to make it 3 days. I've heard it's one of the best hikes up there and I'd like to enjoy it
I was figuring on 2 days, staying at Diamond Lake for the night. I know the trees can get pretty sparse up there how is it for hanging?
I'm looking to do this hike maybe in August or September, wondering if any one or there has done it and can tell me how it would be for that time of year.
Thanks!
Finally going to be hanging it up for the first time this summer! I'm taking the family up to the mountains for the fourth just outside of the Trinity Alps in Far-Northern California for a few night...
haHA there's nothing like knowing you're not the only cheap one out there!
Nice! i think I'm going to try making one out of an old sleeping bag.
Awesome! well I'm gonna give it a shot in the next couple weeks. I'll let you know how it works
So I have an sun shade in my car that is really wanting to be cut apart. I had an idea to use it as insulation for my feet to go along with a 1/2 under quilt or make some covers for my nalgene's to...
Well howdy!
So I bought my first hammock about 6 years ago, before I had ever heard of it being a big deal to go camping or backpacking with. People thought I was crazy! Well i said to them,...
