Just wanted to post that I talk to Killarney today and they still have lots of snow/ice but they anticipate the trails should be fairly clear by May 4. :D
Another week and I can start watching...
Since you'll be on the water a few days before I head up, have you heard anything about ice out?
I hoping the trails are in OK condition to keep a good pace.
When I did my reservation for May I got all the sites I initially wanted. I booked about six weeks before my trip. If I were to go later in the summer I would definitely book the second I knew I was...
Ill Be on Boundary on Tuesday May 5!
But definitely going light - my base weight right now ( with pack ) is just over 12 lbs - there's a few more things I need to add ( camera / gps / batteries / hatchet). But...
There should be a trip report after - I'm gonna use my daughters go pro - I know my solar charger can keep my phone going - just testing this week if I can keep my phone and a go pro charged.
I already got my Killarney trip May 4 - Wont be able to make it to Algonquin as well.
Hopefully I'll have some sort of trip report after - May is gong to arrive very fast this year.
I used Jeffs map for time estimates. The times I've been before ( just in and out trips ) I was really close to his posted times.
Day 1 - Arrive 10:00 - Trail Head 11:00AM
Heading to La Cloche Silhouette on May 4 2015 to do the entire loop in 4 days!
The plan is about 20 KM per day including Silver Peak

Only thing I'm DJing Friday and get home about 3:15 and will have to leave my house at 6:30 [emoji22].
So just curious about booking our permits
They can be booked online however I'm just worried if I book myself for sucker Lake site 125.
Will that reserve the site for me so no one else can book?
Is anyone staying Sunday night ?

I doubt there will be a shortage of axes / saws - I know I'll have a saw and an axe or 2 :)...
I like it because of the challenge.
In summer it's easy - grab some stuff and go.
In winter you need to plan a little more since there's less room for error. But when your preparation come...
I also booked off the weekend of the 20th
So I'm definitely in :)
As mentioned I can bring my hot tent as a warming area. it's not huge but at 10x10 we can fit a few chairs around the stove.
I was up Friday to test out the hot tent I made ( yes I slept on the ground )
Had a great night seeing some familiar faces and meeting a few new ones
Hot tent worked very well but I'm gonna...

Even with rain it looks like you had a good trip
I'm possible for the 20th but not the 27th
I'm good for whatever location :)
I've marked my calendar - hopefully work doesn't prevent me from attending
The trail was packed ( you technically didn't need snowshoes )
Off trail wasn't too bad about a foot to foot and a half deep but easy to dig down to the ground to set up the tent and stove ...
Liam and I got out for a night in Algonquin park for the winter solstice ( and new moon)
This trip I made a hot tent to test out. The plan - use the hot tent as a community shelter for the morning...

Haven't decided a final spot yet
But Liam ( he's 13) said he wants to hike about 4 km in.
It will probably be a trail off of 60 near the west gate we ventured the highland trail in the summer...
Liam and I are heading up to Algonquin for the night on December 21!
Winter solstice and new moon - hopefully some good stargazing that night
Been working on a hot tent ( just for a warming...

There's a good possibility I'll be able to make it friday night :D I'm working in Whitby Saturday so I'm just working out the details and such.
If I do make it I'll be solo in a kayak
