Yes, sounds like a suspension issue. Atlas Straps by ENO are great. I use them with my doublenest
I have done the C & O trip 3X bike packing. One suggestion, find a campsite away from the Canal. The train tracks run parallel to the canal in several sections. Just when I would fall asleep, a...
I have used reflectix between my hammock and UQ with great success. I velcro the reflectix to the the UQ. Adds 10 to 15 degrees of warmth.
I sleep with a piece 15" piece of ccf foam in my sleeping bag and will do the Nalgene trick as well.
I have velcroed a space blanket on the inside of my UQ and it definitely keeps the wind out. Pretty cheap and light weight as well.
I use reflectix windshield protector and 2 pieces of 1/2" thick ccf pad. 1 about 45" for upper body, 2nd 20" piece I keep inside the footbox of my 15 degree sleeping bag. Was warm in temps down to...
Reason # 47, you can set up a hammock virtually anywhere there are trees.
I use ENO Atlas straps. Very easily adjustable, quick setup. I initially made my own straps out of 1.5" polyester webbing from REI. They worked well, but were not as easy to adjust.
Elizabeth Furnace (Maneka Peak). I was there Monday. Great set of trails. About an hour from Leesburg.
I used the cheap emergency blanket in between my UQ and Hammock. Works like a charm. You don't have the condensation problem because of the air gap between the hammock and UQ.
Yeah, did the Nalgene bottle on my last trip to the Sawtooths. Worked like a charm. For cold feet, I cut a 15'' long piece of ccf pad and insert it in the foot end of my sleeping bag.
I am more worried about my car getting broken into than my campsite. Then again, I generally do not camp where I can be seen.
I velcroed a space blanket to the inside of my homemade synthetic sleeping bag UQ. Gave me an extra 7 to 10 degrees of warmth. The UQ seals and provides nice dead air. No condensation issues with...
Just got back from a 4 day backpacking trip in the Sawtooth Mountains, September 9 to 12. This trip was my 2nd trip using a hammock setup.
I have a ENO DN, Atlas Straps, Profly tarp, and homemade...
Thanks for the fire update. Heading to the same area a few days later. Being from Maryland, I am a bit anxious. Looks to be a change in weather after labor day. Hopefully you will get that camp...
I have an Etrex 300. It is a nice piece of equipment. EZ to use. Why are you sellling it?
I have almost the exact setup you mentioned, except a standard DN, not deluxe, profly not dry fly. I like the DN. I only have a few nights in it, as I am a noob. Many nights prior on the ground....
Sounds like a good time for sure. I will be out there on an adventure 9/10 to 9/14, wildfire permitting. What can I expect nighttime lows to be? I have an homemade 40* sleeping bag synthetic UQ. ...
Heading there next weekend. Can't wait. Sods is majestic. Hitting the Roaring Plains too.
Yes swallow falls is a great place to hang. At deep creek lake, the only place you can hang, legally, is at a state park. Most of the land around the lake is owned privately.
Montgomery County
Awesome pics. I am heading out to the Sawtooths Sept. 5 for a week. Using my ENO doublenest for the first time. Any suggestions regarding bug nets, UQ's..... for this time of year.
I use 15 feet of 1.5" nylon webbing. Sew loops at the end of each piece of the webbing. For additional length adjustment, you can always sew an additional loop in the middle of the length of...
Thanks. I just ordered an eno guardian from the site you suggested. How are things in Buffalo? I have a lot of family there.
